(Little) Things that annoy you in Pokémon

I don't really like the idea of changing around Keldeo's stats like that because it breaks the stat layout of the Muskedeers - they all have the same HP and Speed stats, but they all have one stat of 72, two 90s and one 129, just arranged differently. Instead I would have liked to have seen a different ability for Resolute Keldeo.

Oh, I never realized that. Okay, scratch that, yeah I guess changing its Ability would be the next best thing. Adaptability probably, if not a new signature one.

Not only is Adaptability an incredibly lazy choice, it would break Keldeo in half. SPECS SECRET SWORD ALL THE THINGS!!!

Well I was also thinking Moody (Japanese name is Sudden Impulse so I think it fits). Also how many times have a Pokemon gotten something, people say it would break the game, players react to it (either using it or trying to counter it), and later things settle back down as if it was common place? Besides mixing up the metagame a bit never hurt, keeps things fresh and players getting complacent on their feet.

Posted a lot, to save space I'm hiding my comments:

Hmm, just yesterday I was having problems with something similar. I was going around catching the Legendaries (I caught all of them except for Kyurem and that's only because I hadn't sent over one of my Reshiram's yet). Anyway, it started with Terrakion who I wanted two of the guaranteed 31 IVs Attack & Speed and not one in Special Attack. However it ALWAYS kept putting one of the 31 IVs in Special Attack! Eventually I got one without 31 IVs in Special Attack, but it took me like a dozen tries!

Next was Cresselia where the OPPOSITE problem happened, putting one of the 31 IVs into Attack! After another dozen tries I got one with 4 31 IVs and though one was in Attack at least it had 3 in other places. Finally I caught Landurus and YET AGAIN the game decided it wanted to be a special attacker and kept putting a 31 IV into Special Attack! Once again I had to do a few dozen before I got one with 4 31 IVs.

And I still have Kyurem to get...

Yeah, I'm like "why can't you just give me what I want?!". The game doesn't say anything, but if it could, I swear it'd give me a frakking troll face!

God, it is no wonder people use cheating devices!!!

The fact that the AI still spams Double Team and minimize.
Fuck people trying to justify it in competitive, I hate it everywhere. Even before I ever found out about competitive I always found it to be the most annoying, pretentious, boring thing to do ever. It doesn't involve skill, it doesn't challenge the player, it just adds an extremely obnoxious element to the RNG. Fuck this move.

I'm really annoyed by how much paralysis there is in-game in ORAS. I run out of Cheri Berries really quickly and buying around 5 Paralyze Heals before the next city is usually never enough, and I have to choose between continuing with a paralysed party or going back to heal at the Pokemon Centre. Between mons with the Static ability whom I don't always have the ability to attack with non-contact moves, Thunder Wave user and Stun Spore users, it's all a bit too much.

the lack of a good place to gring money fast really annoys me for some reason. I guess the elite four is decent, but it is not even comparable to restaurant le wow using amulet coin and price money power 3. I really miss that.

Also, I really hate the musketeer trio appearing algorithm. Having to wait days to be able to capture a pokemon just seems stupid. Especially if you mainly play in weekends.

A little hint here: You only have to land on Pathless Plain on the day a particular one of those three appears on to make it appear. For example, if you land there on Saturday, you fight Terrakion. Which one you face doesn't change until you leave and land again. This is also true for the beast trio and the lake trio with their timings. (albeit you have to enter the cave itself with the latter. The message is important) Cresselia's the worst, since Crescent Isle appears randomly and there's no guarantee it'll be there even with StreetPass helping the odds.

Can't argue about the lack of a good place to grind money quickly, though. I think the best you can do is rematch Rich Boy Winston, Lady Cindy, and Gentleman Walter, but it's still a pain.

Well, it's still a pain to get the musketeers, regardless of when you actually catch it, you still have to wait for a specific day to encounter it. My main problem is not being able to catch them in one day. Cres is a pain too though :( anyway, thanks for the tip ^^

Actually, the Rich Boy in Battle Resort is the best. With Amulet Coin, he gives $14,000! Although even if you rematch all four in one day, you get around $47,000 dollars(assuming Walter gives the same as Winston and Cindy), which is not that much to quickly grind for money. I still remember the CasteliaCone girl in BW2, with which I got around 2 million, and Restaurant Le Wow in XY, with which I also got around 2 million. Although in AS, I have like $9,000(mostly because I bought 99 Super Repels)

And money isn't the only problem in ORAS(this also applies to XY), there's the confusion problem. 90% of the time when I'm confused, I hit myself, and countless times I almost lost a Battle Maison streak because of that(I even lost a Super Singles streak in AS) To add on that, the AI gets extremely lucky with confusion.

Walter gives out 20,000 with the amulet coin. So.
Money I found generally is no issue in XY. It's incredibly easy to grind off of restaurant le wow. Honestly ORAS is imo just a trainer customization, a friend safari and a restaurant le wow away from being perfect

I'm pretty sure the AI hasn't actively cheated since Gen IV, but I don't know the programming so I can't confirm. DHR-107 you're a smart guy, do you know?

But yeah losing to the AI because of hax is definitely frustrating because you haven't been beaten by something that was your fault. Misplacing or getting outplayed is one thing, but had is just BS.

There's also the Rich Boy and Lady on Route 104. On their Fourth Rematch (aka after becoming Champion) they give 5,880 (11,760 with Amulet Coin/Luck Incense) each and they'll eventually be up to another battle in no time. Battle them, run around and battle a few other trainers, keep checking back until they're ready to battle again, and rinse and repeat.

I feel that pokemon made ORAS and then saw; this needs something to really improve from XY, and that's why we won't get XY patched for new megas/moves, which is really a shame IMO. The games are very different, and complete comparability would IMO just improve every aspect of enjoy ability playing both games. Maybe that's just me though.

And XY is just a post game, move tutors and additional megas away from being perfect!

Inkay's method of evolution.
It's just really annoying because the gyroscope is, of course, not perfect, so half the time you'll fail to do it right. Just evolve you stupid dex-filler.

Yeah, when are you suppose to start holding the DS upside down? I held mine upside down just before the battle ended and it worked, but I had a feeling I was doing it earlier then I needed to.

And they better hope they never remove the Gyroscope otherwise they'd need to give it another evolution method (probably a held item like they had to do with Feebas).

Okay, I'm going to talk about about something that's really starting to grate my cheese: Individual Values.

The only thing they accomplish is to waste the goddamn time of players who know enough to look for them - by breeding or soft resetting until you have what you need.

"Oh, but Fanboy," you say, "It separates the scrubs from the top players!"

What, using the right pokemon, having a well-designed team, making sure to cover your weaknesses, and knowing what the metagame consists of doesn't do that?

"Oh, but Fanboy," you say, "What about Hidden Power?"

What about it? Either it's ignored (by scrubs), cursed (by players who don't have time or patience to get the 'right' ones), or just makes players WASTE MORE TIME trying to get the right one - what's that guy's record in the SR for Legendaries on trying to get an HP Fire on his Yvetal? 2,000 plus?

Link it to another one of the 'hidden' stats, like EVs or personality value, and be fragging well DONE with IVs. It's nothing but a goddamn time sink in a game that doesn't need more of them.

Fuck it.

Extending on about Hidden Power: Now that HP's Power has been set to 60 it's questionable if its even worth using. When you could get a HP that had 70 Power MAYBE it was worth trying to get one, but at 60? It feels at that point that you're better off preparing another Pokemon to cover that Pokemon's weakness (which could be what they're doing, but if that's the case why have HP at all?) as I don't think HP would be helping to cover anything. Also its use of a "coverage" move is hampered that it can only be used by Special Attackers. Finally HP not being able to become a Fairy-type is revealing it's a bit of a relic Move. It was introduced in Gen II to possibly "show off" the new IV mechanic at the time (sort of a "look what we can do!") and since then has been grandfathered in until recently when they gave it a set 60 Power to both help breeders only have to worry about what type it'll be but also show (at least to me) that they sort of don't want you relying on it.

IVs existed in Generation I and the same system was used in Gen II (with the former Special IV doubling for both Special Attack and Special Defense).

Oops, misread Bulbapedia, I thought that was when the Special split occurred. Though I still say it's to show off the IV mechanic in a sort of way like "we can use the IV mechanic to do this".

Oh, wow, I just realized that there was no breeding in Gen I. If you wanted to catch a Pokemon with good/perfect IVs in Gen I you had to catch the Pokemon in the wild and hope for the dice to roll in your favor. And if its a rare Pokemon/Safari Zone Pokemon...

I've pretty much given up on trying to understand the HP mechanics. It is now based on something less forgiving, such as how high or low this given IV is, which the IV checker won't even tell me, and that is almost impossible to control, while keeping all of the other IVs 31.

Less annoying is having to go through 16 different Cresselias just to get one with decent IVs. But at least I got one with 31 IVs in HP, Special Attack, and Speed. This one is a keeper.

And I think that ORAS would be perfect if they had redone the Battle Hill to act as a sort of Battle Chateau, where you could grind for EXP and Money, had the Battle Frontier, if you could battle the Gym Leaders, and if you could battle in the restaurants as much as you want.

Well all Hidden Power cares about is if certain stats are even or odd. A flawless stat (31) is odd, and you can check HP anytime in Anistar/Fortree. Still, I can't really be bothered to breed for Hidden Power and mostly just use the HP checker to help determine if the less than 30 IV stats are even or odd when shoving the result into an IV calculator...
