The Most Facepalm Worthy Thing You Have Done in All of Pokémon

I've been playing Pokemon for 8 years, and I didn't know that same type moves got a boost until two years ago.

Also, in Emerald, I thought it was so cool to have a Gardevoir that had Fire, Ice, and Thunderpunch. I think its fourth move was Hyper Beam, I dunno. I just remember having a karate master lady in a dress.

EDIT: It was swagger because 9 year old me was a douchebag.

That would be OK in 3rd gen because the elemental punches were special back then. In the case of Hyper Beam, that sucks because that was physical back then. Nowadays it would really suck ingame because the punches are physical now.

I have a couple. My first game was Pearl. I didn't get into Pokemon until mid-fourth generation. My first starter, Torterra, and Palkia, were the only Pokemon I used. Because I was a noob. By the time I got to the Elite Four I had to go through the hell of beating the Elite Four with an HM Slave Torterra and an all-Dragon type move Palkia (with Heal Block...). I somehow beat Cynthia, but damn, I sucked.

More recently, in Omega Ruby, I had just found the Master Ball at Team Magma's area. I vowed to save that thing, hearing of the hell that was Deoxys. So some time went by, and right before facing Primal Groudon, I looked in my bag and saw that my Master Ball was no where to be seen. I went to my PC and found my Master Ball. There was a Clamperl inside it. I wasted a Master Ball on accident in a game with Goomy-Knows how many Legendaries.

Then there are some others. The Palkia I mentioned earlier was very well at Lv. 100, and some kids wanted it. They wanted to battle me, and said to bring my Palkia. I grew a bit suspicious, but I ignored it. All they sent out was a Togepi and I Spacial Rended the shit out of it. When the battle was over, I asked them what the whole point of that was. Apparently, they thought they could use a Master Ball in a WiFi Battle. Durp.

Other than that, not much.

It knew it wasn't "bad", but I thought it was funny, looking back at my Gardevoir that kicked ass, takes names, and punches everything. If Gallade had existed, that would have been my favorite Pokemon now, because of that.

Doing the Pokémon League in Diamond. The only two decent-level Pokémon I was using were Golduck and Torterra. After Golduck ran out of PP, and fainted to Struggle damage, I then decided to Revive Golduck and not heal its PP. I'm sure you can guess how that went.

I was searching for the Scanner on the Abandoned Ship in Omega Ruby. I didn't fight Wallace yet so as usual, I couldn't have found it so I wasted half an hour just looking for it.

So I booted up Y so I could buy some vitamins to help me EV train my Altaria since I am rich there, but not so much in Alpha Sapphire. I walk out the Pokémon Center and push Y then I remember: the Eon Flute does not exist in Y. Luckily, I had my Shiny Ho-Oh (bad nature = HM Slave) in my party, so I was fine.
EDIT:

And I just remembered: I already have about 200 of each Vitamin in Y since it is so easy to get money in that game.

Reading that just made my day, it sounds so hilarious on their part!

A fail (kinda) of my brother's part was when he was doing Black 2, he never wanted to go to Nurse Joy because he thought she would steal his Pokemon.

*EDIT* Quote fail... whatever.

Wow, I glossed over that story. You think that they would know better since you can't do that to regular AI trainers.

Masterballs are the root of so many fails in Pokemon. I can imagine thousands have been wasted accidentally, with Pokemon that just sit in the PC with their troll face on being like "LOL U SRSLY USED THIS ON MEH?!" and laughing. Thinking about other times I have used the Master Ball, I have decided I never should of used it on Xerneas. Why? Because Moltres is so dang hard to catch. Eleven tries. Eleven tries to catch that legendary bird. I am noting to myself to save the Master Ball for Articuno in my next X play-through.

I never used a Master Ball until the original Hoenn games, and even then I knew better than to waste it on anything but a legendary. LOL I once caught a Ho-Oh in Crystal with over 200 Pokéballs. You can imagine my horror when my game was destroyed after being doused in grape juice.

Hyper Beam on all Pokemon after Gen 1 because I haven't expected the Game Mechanics would change until much latter.

Look at this "beast" for instants

They used cheat codes, so they were used to spamming Master Balls on trainers. I remember how with the codes, a random Probopass or a random Masquerain would just appear out of nowhere in the wild of Sinnoh. I'd ask if I could have an Arceus and he'd be like "sure I have like... three of them or something."

So why didn't they use a cheat code to make Palkia appear in the wild, and then use some of those 999 Rare Candies to level it up?

Ah, yes. I remember when I was a kid and stupid. I ended up with a level 100 Machoke in Gold because I thought it would eventually evolve on its own into Machamp without trading. I also thought Delibird would evolve into Lugia at some point. To be fair, Delibird and Lugia had pretty similar cries.

My friend had a Sneasel and a bunch of rare candies got from this one guy's action replay. They kept using Rare Candies on Sneasel, hoping it would evolve. Obviously, that's not how it worked, and now they were stuck with a Lv. 100 Sneasel. No Weavile.

Not sure if I said it here yet but...

I didn't evolve my Dragonair up to level 97, because I think that Dragonite is ugly and makes the line seem so out of place.

SO TRUE. But on Showdown, where the evolutionary lines aren't in the same environment, you just kinda get used to Dragonite being its own thing. It's kinda weird tho. Rather than be a serpent, we got this fatass derp Dragon with wings so small it would probably be impossible for them to lift his weight off the ground. He also has a horn so small that it's practically useless, and antennae for some reason. I still like the design, but this isn't something Dragonair of all things should evolve into.

A long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away
I realized that you could skip Winona until the end. This was before I realized that Fly was good.

I didn't play that file for years, then started again. I ended up wiping my save file at the Elite four because I didn't realize that I never beat Winona.

Speaking of Fly…

I managed to beat FireRed, and complete all of the end-game without managing to find Fly. Wtf.
