Pokkén Tournament

Something very exciting to note about this - beyond the fact that Chandelure is cool as shit - is that Chandelure was a Pokémon in the background of a Pokken stage (can't remember which off the top of my head).
This means that we can't discount Pokémon that appear as background extras as potential playable Pokémon.

I was expecting and hoping for Swampert to finally get his day to shine.

BUT MAH GOD CHANDELURE FROM OUTTA NOWHERE

The only concern I have is that there are a lot of fire types at this point... other than that, golden. Chandelure is one of my favorites from 5th gen, so this makes me enormously happy.

I do kind of like how Chandelure was so despised as one of the examples of "pokemon's so unoriginal now" that salty geewunners and a ton of other people cited at the start of Gen 5
And now everyone's pouring in support for my beautiful little chandelier of death and destruction :')
Yeah, I always found that hate weird. To me, Chandelure was an obvious winner of Generation 5 in terms of design. Unique typing, awesome gothic design, bitchin' name, and Pokedex entries that you gotta respect.

"Being consumed in Chandelure's flame burns up the spirit, leaving the body behind."

"The spirits burned up in its ominous flame lose their way and wonder this world forever."

So yeah, it fuels its fire by burning the souls of the damned.

I don't understand how anyone could possibly hate this guy, yet genwunners seem to hate all inanimate object Pokemon.... which is especially weird considering that gen 1 was the generation is the gen that introduced us to the likes of three magnets and upside down Pokeball, but who am I to judge?

So I guess the color of the question mark doesn't matter.

Also, looking back at Karxrida's "probs not in" list, Chandelure is listed there because it appears in a background of a stage. So with Braixen and Chandelure I guess this proves any Pokemon can be a fighter (though I kind of figured even if a Pokemon showed up in a background it doesn't mean they can't be a fighter since that's just another member of the species. However the pre-evolution was a bit surprising though as everyone said Braixen looks more mobile than Delphox).

My guess Braixen's Burst will have to do with its signature move, Mystical Fire.

And yeah Chandelure (yet ANOTHER Fire-type, lol. Watch IGN's review be like "7.8. Too much fire" (and Team Aqua will have its revenge))! Nice to see a Gen V Pokemon and I can see where some people would be decisive about it being its a chandelier (though I'm surprised someone guessed it). But I can see the move potentials for it, mostly with it wrapping itself with flames and spinning around, maybe sending out flame shockwaves, and sending out Will-O-Wisps. Not sure what'll do for its Burst (aside from a strong Fire-type move or maybe a super Will-O-Wisp).

Now this oddly also makes me want Vanilluxe to be a fighter to have Gen V's most hated Pokemon kicking it with all the popular mons.

EDIT: Oh, I guess I should also talk about how it looks:

Not bad, I like the crystal effect of the glass making it look like a chandelier but at the same time something that you could argue have formed naturally. And of course those ghostly blue flame effects look great (especially with that overlapping "aura" layer on it).

Also, Sylveon+ Croagunk and Pachirisu + Magikarp have been revealed as new support sets.

What it does is make our opponent laugh themselves into submission... that or suddenly evolve to Gyarados after flopping around for a few seconds and cause havoc. OR it'll let you throw it at your opponent to do a lot of damage.

Oh, and they are being consistent -- Ra is also the last letter of Chandelure's name.

Hmm, I'm going to say that's maybe just a coincidence or something they did to throw us off if they do this again (... unless that's what they want us to think...).

For its burst, it summons a giant fire

Its burst attack may as well be something that give reference to its ability to kill and burn their enemies' souls. I dunno, a fire Scythe? Like Necrophos in DotA 2 where its Reaper Scythe automatically kills an enemy hero once it reaches a certain percentage of health. Just imagin a a weak burst attack if the enemy has higher than 40% health. However, if enemy health is at 40% health below, if the landing move for Chandy's burst attack connects, they are guaranteed dead. Look, this thing is a Grim Reaper! You may as well murder somebody for good.

LAN mode confirmed by Serebii. The competitive scene's going to live.

The 2-player mode on one system (which forces you to use the gamepad) will play with an FPS of 30.
I am so fucking happy. At first I was like "well... even if the competitive won't be good, it'll still be fun to mess around with" when I heard of the multiplayer method, but this sounds awesome.
By the way guys, if you don't want to bother with clicking your Serebii bookmark, the way this works is that a LAN cable will be linked between two Wii Us. Also, it runs at 60 FPS for that and during the other multiplayer mode (pokken controller vs wii u gamepad), the game for some reason runs at 30 FPS.

In addition the Online Mode will also have rankings and competitions.

Finally they also announced "Single Mode", which has three difficulty settings. Hmmmm... story mode?

Man, I wonder why I forgot it somehow. I can't remember anything about Charizard.

I don't think they really advertise Charizard much being in Pokken, honestly him being in there an SSB4 is mainly for fanservice. It should be easier to remember he's in there once they make Greninja and Jigglypuff fighters (they have Pikachu, Lucario, Charizard, and Mewtwo; I don't think its too farfetched they'll go for the full SSB4 cast. I'm also hoping for Meowth, its sort of the secondary/villain mascot of the anime).

What do you mean they haven't been advertising him? He got his own trailer:

Him, Gengar, and Weavile were the only launch Pokemon to get their own trailers.

Anyway, take a look at these awesome Braixen screenshots:

There's a bunch more of 'em that serebii posted on this page, including a bunch with Garchomp too. I just wanted to post the Braixen pics mainly to comment on how interesting its fighting stlye looks. I like that Broomstick looking attack especially!

TheTraininator:
Sure he has a trailer but what else has he had? Though To be fair he isn't the only fighter that doesn't get much focus outside their initial appearance.
I'm not sure I follow, what else could he have had? He had his own trailer, he was on the roster since launch, and people have been playing him in Japan for months. I mean I guess you see Pikachu and Lucario a bit more often in most trailers, but the little promotional material we've gotten so far has definitely had him in it. When the Wii U version was announced to be coming to the states, Charizard appeared several times in the trailer.

So it's not like we haven't seen any of Charizard, I think it's more along the lines of the fact that Nintendo has done very little promotional work for this game in the states AT ALL as of right now. I imagine that will change as we get closer to the release date.

True, I guess it could just be lack of promotional materiel period. But as you said, I'd say Lucario, Blaziken, and maybe even Machamp are more running the show (and now Mewtwo).

Some stuff I noticed on the English website's character page:

1. Shadow Mewtwo looks like a selectable fighter.
2. Chandelure is a far-range attacker and Burst looks creepy like rows of Will-O-Wisps?
chandelure-04.jpg
3. Braizen's Burst actually looks to be a Psychic-type attack. Maybe Psychic or Psyshock? It's also a far-range fighter.
braxien-04.jpg
4. Normal Mewtwo's Burst is also Mega Mewtwo X. From it sounds like Normal Mewtwo may be more agile but weaker than Shadow Mewtwo.
