The whole placement thing just added that one final level of complication that makes it less fun than Singles or Doubles.
I was stuck on the placement thing too.
I just don't know what to do if I don't like the current placing.
Ah, I see. That never really confused me, I think if planned better it could be better:
1. Placement Distinction: As of right now I think how it works which Pokemon is sent out if that your first is on your left, second in middle, third on right. Not only that, it changes on perspective. So I think they should mark the zones with colors (we'll use red, purple, blue). Red will be on the left, purple in middle, and blue on right, however when you need to make a decision in terms of placement the game will refer to the zones by color.
2. Position Swapping: As of right now the ONLY way to swap your Pokemon's position (without constant switching in and out) is with a move called Ally Swap and that only exchanges the Pokemon on the left with the one on the right. That should change. I think an option for your turn should be being able to have (1.) adjacent Pokemon switch positions but not lose their turn or (2.) the Pokemon on the right and left switch but they lose their turn due to the distance they needed to travel (that way Ally Switch has some purpose, it allows the Pokemon that didn't use the move to still attack despite switching).
Also, if someone only has one Pokemon remaining they're placed in the middle automatically. The battle will also revert into a double battle if both opponents only have two Pokemon remaining (mechanic-wise they'd just get rid of the middle field and the restrictions preventing Pokemon attacking opponents on the far other side of the field normally).
3. Move Restriction: As of right now
only a few moves can hit a Pokemon on the far other side of the field. While this makes sense for most moves, I would still say it should be expanded upon to not limit a Pokemon. First moves like Earthquake, Magnitude, Surf, Muddy Water, etc. (moves that would theoretically effect the whole field) should hit everyone regardless of position. Next I think they should expand on moves which can hit a target on the far other side of the field (for example I think it makes sense for the
semi-invulnerable turn moves except for Sky Drop. If my Pokemon is flying high or digging underground, they shouldn't be limited in who they can hit). Finally if you really want your non-middle Pokemon to attack an opponent on the far other side of the field I think it should be allowed BUT it gets negative priority for distance the attack needs to travel.
I like the idea of Triple Battles, but right now its a bit too limited which adds complications. I know everything I said sounds like it adds in more complication but I think it would simplify things as it'll give you more freedom and able to position the Pokemon the way you want them.
But I personally feel that if your whole team is on the field at once, it's kinda funny.
You know if they did Double Rotation Battles that would be possible. :P
Pokemon Sun and Moon will NOT be distributed in China.
Despite the inclusion of Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese, Nintendo has no plans of distributing the games in China.
The Chinese version is merely for Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia.
I suppose it's because China's laws are still too fiddly for Nintendo to handle.
Well at least GF is trying as best they can for their Chinese fans. Hmm, I wonder if this means we won't be getting a region based on China any time soon.
Masuda made a Vine and posted it on his Twitter. It's tagged for Sun and Moon.
