Hey if anyone knows much Japanese grammar I would like to ask something about Kiteruguma. I know that グマ (ぐま; guma) a contextual intonation of くま (kuma) which is "bear", but due to my limited vocab I can't seem to work out what the other part of it's name is referring to. Any suggestions?

I was looking at 4chan and it's apparently like his comments on the two. He says something like 'I want to bite his arm off' (more or less) for the bear and "this pikachu smells weird"

If "Kiteru" has both positive and negative connotations like the article says it does, it could be referencing it's love for hugging trainers (positive) but the danger if it does so due to it's immense strength (negative). Makes sense tbh.

I don't understand why people say this. There was no other precedent to judge Gen 1 as lazy. When you say something is lazily designed, you're comparing it to previous designs. Nothing existed.

I say that because Gen 1 had things like Ekans which is literally just a snake with more pronounced eyes or Diglett/Dugtrio and Magnemite/Magneton. It bothers me because in hindsight there are things back in Gen 1 there are things that look like they had just the same amount of effort put in to it.

So, Game Freak is trying to make this the cutest generation ever. I just love the design of Kiteruguma. It's so adorable that I'm willing to risk giving it a hug. If I die, I'll die happy.

The sad thing is that it likely will not be cute if and after it evolves.

Also, to those who don't like it, you must live sad lives if you can't love this thing.

This is a really awesome Pokémon. The design is great, the typing is fantastic, and I just can't wait to see more about it.

At the beginning I hated that pink bear but... The longer I look at it.. And as much as I hate to say it... It's really fucking cute. The fan art makes it look so much better and I feel like it's going to end up being everyone's favourite because it's so damn cute [in a simplistic weird-ass way], I swear to god it will grow on you. Even still, I wish it was normal / fairy or fairy / fighting because that warm pink doesn't really fit with it's typing.

I have fallen in love with Mimikkyu. It is definitely my favorite of this gen. The design and back story is amazing.

Great, I want to use both of these. I still need a Water-type and a Ground-type, but unfortunately the Water/Grounds are rarely available early. Although it's likely one or both of these won't be either. Pikaboo (please let that be its English name) would be the first non-Electric Pikaclone (unless you want to count Marill), which is also pretty cool, as well as having a new and awesome type combination in Ghost/Fairy.

I do enjoy seeing the complete 180 on the design of that bear. "It's worse than bad fanart!" Then, "Actually, it's pretty cute!" See what happens when you give things time to settle in? Meanwhile, a worrysome defensive typing but awesome offensively, having perfect neutral coverage on anything not a Ghost. The existence of Mega Lopunny makes me skeptical of a potential Scrappy HA, but I would love to see that.

Nope, as far as I know! Cresselia~~ said something about pokejungle leaking it, but I couldn't find it myself.

I am not looking forward to Kiteruguma. Bears in Pokemon for whatever reason have a history of sucking (Pangoro's an exception, but he needs the Move Tutors that will most likely not be in Sun/Moon), and I doubt that this bear will be any different (until the Tutors come into play, that is). Its design is also as bad as Druddigon's in my opinion, which isn't a good thing (They're even similar in that their heads are a completely different colour than their body is). Also, am I the only one who hopes that if it gets an evolution then it'll be absolutely bloodthirsty and evil? I've always loved it when the weakest and cutest Pokemon turned out to become real badasses when they evolve (Pancham, Deino, Litwick, Axew, Gible, Munchlax, Magikarp, etc).

Pikaboo on the other hand looks interesting. I hope that it gets an evolution (and an actually powerful one at that), and I hope that even the base form is useful. GameFreak has wasted interesting typings on not-so-good Pokemon before (Poison/Dragon, Poison/Dark, Bug/Rock, etc), but hopefully that isn't the case here. Typically Ghost-Type Pokemon are pretty good in game, so I actually have high hopes for this one.

Edit: I get that pandas in general are also related to raccoons, but that still isn't a good medium to go by given how much Linoone sucks.
