I highly doubt King Dedede is a part of the starting roster, so this may confirm the fact that they are revealing unlockables on the site.

Uhhh how does Kirby using a hammer in 1 attack make them alike in that sense at all?

I see him being a cross between Kirby and Ice Climbers.

He's gonna be the first guy I use if he's on the starting roster.
 
I'm happy for this update too, if only because it makes Ridley the most popular character who isn't yet confirmed! Looks good that Norfair has yet to be announced on the Dojo ... they're probably holding back on something. I'm hoping for a triple update of Ridley as PC + Norfair + Samus and Ridley join the Brawl, but heh.

On a more related note Dedede looks a bit more cartoonish than I would have expected him to be, for an antagonist (for the most part) of the Kirby series. Very similar to a fan rendition I saw on the net too : Fan's Dedede. The official one has more detail of course, but the fan one is pretty close to the concept IMO. I also agree with those saying Sakurai-san is revealing unlockable characters; I highly doubt Kirby, Meta Knight, AND Dedede are starters.

No more than Link is an Ike clone. King Dedede has a ton of unique moveset options that can be taken from his games. I honestly cannot imagine King Dedede as a Kirby clone, it'd would frankly be insulting if he was; if King Dedede's own creator cannot thing of a unique moveset for him ;/
 
More like how Ike will be a clone of Marth, considering that both are FE characters who use swords >_>

They're putting in a lot of powerhouses. Gannondorf has a big chance to be in, even though he isn't confirmed, Bowser supposedly has improved, Ike is the uber-powerhouse with super-armor frames and now we're getting the powerhouse of the Kirby series.

I wanted to use the Ike and Link comparison though because of how absurd it is though :toast:

I just hope they actually have more of a balance between speed and power type character this time around.

I wonder if stars will fly out when he uses his hammer? And I'd say that he'll definitely float, but I wonder if there will be lag to it like in the games he's in?
 
The interesting thing about dedede is that he's a heavyweight with good potential for nice recovery. Bowser, DK and Ike all seem to have very situational recovery, as in they really focus on either horizontal or vertical recovery.

He'll probably have a hammer charge-up move similar to DK's Giant Punch as neutral B, pulled straght from Kirby Super Star. Smash B might be a Hammer Boomerang, taking the Hammer throw from KSS and just having it return.

Really, between the Hammer ability from KSS and all of Dedede's signature attacks, a moveset for him shouldn't be too difficult.

I mean, Captain Falcon got a moveset and he starred in a racing game. Speaking of CF, I hope we see him soon.

He could also potentially do a Bowser Bomb type move, since he does that in the games. It wou;ld be cool if his Up B was like kirby's Aerial Forward B in Melee, only shooting straight up and acting like a Screw Attack.
 
Wow, I'm really glad Dedede is in this game. He's going to be awesome. Hoping he has more than just a hammer though.. does this mean the Ice Climbers might get cut?

Dedede is cool, he was one of the most likely of new unconfirmed characters to make it.

Now we need some fucking KING K. ROOL ACTION RIGHT HERE BABY

umm and i could honestly see krystal as a playable character. it is logical to say that star fox will have at least one brand new character, and considering krystal is the new main character from the series' last major game, it makes sense.

Not officially. There was some weird article a bit ago saying that both Sheik & Gannondorf make a return.

If you look at the videos from E For All, the character select screen didn't show all of the playable characters. Like Zelda. Plus, with the demos of Subspace Emissary, the scenario that was playable after the start of it was Kirby and Peach. So, it's a bit suspicious, no?

A+ on spelling Sheik correctly.

Isn't HAL the first party who makes both SSB and Kirby? I'm sure they will.

Ha, I booted up Melee today and realized I never beat Event Match 36.
