What is your dream job/passion?

I finish high school in December, and have applied to Broadcasting School (Screen and TV bachelors). I am following my dream of working at Roosterteeth, as I am passionate about entertainment. I want to know what your dream job or passion is now, or when you were younger. If you are following your dream, what are you doing in order to make it happen. I'm curious to know the passions and dreams of people in this community.

Fire Away!

Good luck with your dream! I love Roosterteeth, working for them would be so much fun. How did you get into entertainment?

I love true crime, particularly learning about serial killers. I'm pretty much set on having a career where I can deal with criminals atm. I'm not entirely sure what I exactly that career would be though. I've considered detective, forensic scientist, and criminal profiler. Working for the FBI would be interesting.

Dude, being a detective would be awesome. There is something about Crime and Murder that is just oddly fascinating. Like, it kinda gets you hooked.

I got into entertainment through YouTube. Letsplayers, Skits, Reviewers, Comedians, Podcasts among others interested me. I always thought it would be so cool to do that kind of stuff for a living. I discovered Roosterteeth and saw they did everything from animated shows, to live actions, podcasts, and letsplays, and I thought it would be awesome, every day would be different. Just like working in the line of crime, everyday would bring something new, and that excites me

Definitely. I got into it back in 10th grade, I believe. The crimes are fascinating to learn about, but I'm particularly interested in the minds of the criminals themselves. It's that basic question of "What drives a person to do this?" I feel like all the careers I named would provide me a mental challenge as well.

Roosterteeth has such a wide variety of content, so I definitely understand where you're coming from. Something new everyday is what I would like out of a career.

I really want to be a skydiving instructor, I've dived a couple times and researched extensively. The requirements to be a tandem instructor (among other things) is at least 500 jumps over 4 years and it'll cost around 50 grand, so it's about as long and almost as pricy as many university programs.

Also my friend in high school did an internship with rooster teeth and loved it fwiw

Dude, thats awesome, your friend is so lucky.
I like the fact that you've researched it. I hope it works out! That would be an awesome job.

Hi!
Good on you btw for wanting to work for RoosterTeeth I love their youtube videos (Red vs Blue is what got me into playing halo). Will forever love that company so goodluck!!!!

As for me, I'm currently going to uni to get a degree in Computer Engineering and recently got an internship at Kimley-Horn and Associates to start this summer in their firm in Florida :-) so i'm super excited about that.
As for my passion, I always loved coding and programming and has always been a great hobby and passion since middle school. But my main passion was always art and writing. My main medium is painting preferably oil and watercolor and I've been writing poetry for a little over a decade now (i'm 21 now).

Dude, thats awesome, I was never any good at art, but poetry is so cool. I hope you can find a way to be successful from Art and writing, AND coding and programming. Keep us posted how it goes at your firm

I'm hoping to get a degree in graphic design or anything relating to game media so that I may become a game designer. Fortunately, I live in a town where there is a college nearby offering game design classes, so I don't have to go down to Arkansas State University away from home. I'm also thinking of taking those Java script online free courses to get the basics of coding.

I've been pretty successful doing day trading alongside attending university (on my final year of a mathematics degree), and that's what I want to be doing for the foreseeable future be it with my own money or as an employee at a buy-side firm. I got into the stock market at a young age thanks to my uncle who's done really well as a day trader after quitting his job with Intel years ago. I started doing paper trading as practice when I was about 13-14 and I immediately opened a brokerage account with whatever I had saved up from part-time/summer work when I turned 18. I ended up growing my capital quite considerably trading penny stocks, but to be honest I feel I got extremely lucky there, penny stocks are volatile af and I could have just as easily ended up blowing all the money. I don't do those anymore, but that initial run of success/luck allowed me to have a decent enough capital to see some actual returns without having to go for something super risky.

Right now I'm looking to stay in academia and get a doctorate, as I also do quite enjoy what I'm doing at university, though afterwards I'm looking to apply that knowledge doing something like quant trading at hedge fund. In the end I want to be 'independent' and doing my own thing, but that experience of trading as a professional would be invaluable if I get to do it, and of course it's more income. Having a minimum fixed salary means more security financially as well, obviously.

But yeah, idk why I decided to type out an essay about this on smogon.com forums. If anyone here is interested in or does this sort of thing though, feel free to hmu for a discussion anytime, I love hearing other people's ideas and trading/investing strategies :toast:

My real dream job is to be a PA announcer for some major league sports team. I have a knack for doing that and used to call plays for my high school (American) football, hockey, and lacrosse teams. One day I'd love to head to the TD Garden and say for the arena to hear, "Boston goal scored by #37 Patrice Bergeron! Assisted by #63 Brad Marchand and #47 Torey Krug! Time of the goal, 13 minutes and 37 seconds!"

But because that's not gonna happen (those guys have job security for life), I want to use my passion for math and science to pursue a career as a civil engineer.

Studying a bachelor of biomedicine at uni at the moment and I intend to go into (actual) medicine afterwards. I'm quite far from the end goal, but to specialise in something such as neurology would be quite enthralling.

I'm a first year student in a Biochemistry University (yes if you look at my age, it's 16, and yes I really am in University, you can get in early if you get a good score on the finals, as you can take them if you're a second/early third year if you're really confident), and as of now, I really think that I want to become a vet. My reason for this is I have a pet dog, and I can't bear the sadness of other people losing their pets in an accident because I'm pretty sure most people really love their pets and I think that if I could be the one to help these pets lives then I'll feel very proud of myself. Also because I love animals, and I've always have since pre-school, and I would definitely want to help them. If this doesn't become true then I'll probably find a career that relates to Biology or Chemistry one way or another :3

I have no clue what I want to do with my life (or even what I'm good at), so I'd like to know how other people landed upon exactly where their passions lie. I would assume for most people it was just something you always knew, but at this point the only passion I know that I have is a passion for being obscenely lazy, so if anyone has advice or something idk that would be quite helpful oo

It nice to see so many people having interesting dreams and passions.

Myself? Energy efficient buildings. One day, I'd like to help design a decently-sized building pushing the 20 kWh/m2/year barrier, or something shattering the requirements of "BREEAM-NOR Outstanding". Probably as mundane as dreams can be, so it doesn't seem to be too many of us on Smogon. I graduated university in June with pretty good grades, but haven't been able to find a job yet - everywhere I've applied, they're asking for years of experience in the relevant field. Another window of opportunity should open right before the next class graduates, so until then I'm honing my skills, applying for whichever job becomes available, and taking work at a local hardware store.

I'm just a lowly high school student right now, but I have a dream to work with NASA as an astrophysicist or something of that nature someday. Finding something that nobody has seen before would be an amazing thing for me. I can't even begin to describe how giddy I get just thinking about it.

(This is also probably the reason that I'm one of the frontrunners of the senior voting in my school for "Most Likely To Discover A Planet"...)

I'm currently working several jobs at once since I enjoy the thrill of always being busy. I guess its the effect of being unemployed for almost a year after graduating. I'm currently head of science at a large tuition centre in addition to being a physics specialist at a large Sixth Form in East London. I do some private tutoring on the side so the money adds up really nicely which is just a bonus as the jobs have amazing atmosphere.

Standing in front of a Chalk/Whiteboard making kids solve differential equations without realizing what they're doing.

I mean c'mon, how cool would it be as a nerd to manufacture other smaller nerds?
