Godly Reflection

Another homage to the interesting meta last gen called "Type Reflector", but changed the rules a bit, because of Steel's dominance last gen.

Metagame Rules
1.
The first slot of your team is reserved for your "god" and you can choose the mon up to Uber. Of course, you can also put OU mon or below here.
2.
The rest of the mon (slot 2 to 6), you can only choose up to OU
3
. What does the god do? The god transfers their primary typing into teammates' secondary typing.

Example: this is your team

Groudon
Dragonite
Landorus
Entei
suicune
Lucario

in this case

Groudon stays Ground type
Dragonite becomes Dragon/Ground type (if you have 2 typing already one will be replaced)
Landorus becomes pure Ground type
Entei becomes Fire/Ground type
Suicune becomes Water/Ground type
Lucario becomes Fighting/Ground type

Q: There's no limitation for the teammates as long as it's OU right?
A: Yes, this is not gods and followers

Q: Why did you have put Uber and not OU mon like last gen?
A: Last gen, Steel were absolutely unbreakable and the only S tier type, with a few typing lik Dark, Electric and Ghost following them, while types like Psychic, Fire are C/D rank. No, not even Fairy is that good because Steel is everywhere. In Ubers, there's very few good primary Steel mon (Solg and Necro-DM is Psychic btw), probably only Arceus-Steel. Because of this, I think this will give better chance to types like Psychic and Fire.

This meta sounds really interesting and steel still sounds scary. Kyu-B now has a great Dragon/Steel typing and with a 170 base attack, iron head and dragon claw along with its other coverage is taking lives. Buzzwole now gets that Bug/Steel typing that it gets in OMs like Mnm (without filter and defense boost of course). A fun mon could be Gourgeist who was some good bulk and now a very good typing in Ghost/Steel. Adding normal type to espeeders could be nice but not too sure if its as great as it sounds. Nonetheless I really love how this meta sounds.

I would play this as I really enjoyed Type Reflectors but Steel would still be very popular. Dialga, and of Steel Arceus still donate the type.

I find that the two types to watch out for here are Normal and Fairy. I went and made a ESpeed spam HO for that matter - untested but here's what I got down for the roles of each Pokemon.

Arceus @ Chople Berry
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Shadow Claw
- Swords Dance
- Recover

Standard EKiller, main roles are lategame sweeper and Normal donor. EVs are to outpace Lele so that it's harder for it to bust my team.

Dragonite @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Extreme Speed
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Dragon Dance

Secondary Primal Groudon switch - main niche is a bulky Dragon with the ability to do heavy damage to Steel-type teams.

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Shadow Claw
- Return
- Swords Dance
- Will-O-Wisp

Mimikyu - annoys the crap out of Marshadow and a general physical blanket check. Also helps Normal mirror against EKiller.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Explosion
- Swords Dance
- Stealth Rock

Primary Primal Groudon switch and SR setter. Nukes early-game too, and yet softens up the Steel matchup.

Greninja @ Psychium Z
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Low Kick
- Extrasensory
- Grass Knot
- Spikes

Spikes Gren - helps with the Fighting matchup as well as softening the Ground matchup with GK. Low Kick yet again helps in the Normal mirror and softens Steel matchup.

Entei @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sacred Fire
- Extreme Speed
- Stone Edge
- Toxic

Main role is speed control and Xern 'check'. Particularly helps against spam of Steel/Fairy archetypes and can prove useful as a cleaner lategame.

Overall, sounds like a fun but centralizing metagame - but that's what an Ubers based meta is, isn't it?

Both normal and fairy will struggle a bit against steel and that is a problem if steel became the best type again. Xerneas is quite strong though. I would count ground as another strong type just because of primal don and its decent/great matchup agaist steel. Lucario might be surpridingly good for HO despite having a primary fighting type.

Is mega ray allowed?

The problem I find with Steel at the moment is the fact that a lot of secondary typings from good Pokemon are outright removed for it and therefore some combinations are actually inferior to other types. I'd argue that Fairy has the better matchup against itself due to the ability to create multiple Steel/Fairies - Jirachi and Celesteela come to mind. However, Steel teams have very few ways of avoiding Xerneas' coverage, and struggle consistently with the dominance of Ground-type teams (see: Primal Groudon, Zygarde)

I think steel have tools to check xerneas, though it is impossible to counter. AV Alola muk can check it provided it doesnt have earthquake and you can force it out with mega medicham or banded scizor's bullet punch. Whimscoot can prevent the opponent from even clicking geomancy since it has prankster and encore, while unawere clefable can at least cripple it. Unboosted xerneas will struggle against mew/lele or misgamius/haunter depending on its coverage move.

I dont deny that xerneas will be a force to reckon with but steel can at least handle it and they can threaten other the rest of the team, minus toxapex, with their god. They also got tapu bulu which helps against earthquakes (though groudon and groundceus exist).

Some more Prioritize sets.

terrakion.gif

Terrakion @ Focus Sash
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Smack Down / Stone Edge
- Double Kick
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake

Double Kick is a nice 60 power priority attack that can go through subs and sashes. This Terrakion set is designed to be a suicide lead, with Double Kick helping it beat other suicide leads.

weavile.gif

Weavile @ Choice Band
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash

Yep, this is just standard Weavile. Pursuit's boost in priority means it won't have to worry as much about its victims hitting back instead of fleeing, and if Ice Shard gets increased priority as well (can I get a confirm/deny on that?) it doesn't have to worry about opposing priority pretty much at all.

haxorus.gif

Haxorus @ Lum Berry
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dual Chop
- Poison Jab
- Earthquake

The Haxorus that Rose_Warrior forsaw in his nightmares. It's just standard Haxorus with SD + DC instead of DD + Outrage. EDIT: Never mind about the Swords Dance. You need the speed to outrun opposing priority.

marowak.gif

Marowak @ Thick Club
Ability: Rock Head / Battle Armor
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bonemerang
- Smack Down
- Power-Up Punch / Double Kick
- Double-Edge / Swords Dance

I think this will be the standard Marowak set. It thankfully has Smack Down to compensate for being unable to throw bones vertically.

tapubulu.gif

Tapu Bulu @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Wood Hammer / Horn Leech
- Leafage
- Superpower

Tapu Lele will have a huge presence, so another Tapu can be used to remove Psychic Terrain.

klefki.gif

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Iron Defense
- Calm Mind
- Draining Kiss
- Substitute

Draining Kiss is cool in that it restores 75% of the damage dealt. With Prankster and a great defensive typing, Klefki can boost its offense and defense and restore more damage than it receives.

Honestly I'd consider running DD over SD because of the amount of priority in the meta. The speed boost will allow it to outspeed other priority. Otherwise cool sets!

For those that are unaware, I have decided to add Mud Slap into Prioritize's banlist as the move is unhealthy with the priority boost. That change was done yesterday, but since I don't know how to word my post properly, hence the late announcement. Outside of the potential bans and threats that I have mentioned, there isn't anything that I should add to the banlist right now.
Now, back to your regular schedule!

No, Mega Ray is not allowed.

Also I would count Yveltal as a potent god when it can check both Primal Groudon and Arceus, and it doesn’t really have a bad matchup vs Steel.

Psychic was a bad type last gen but this gen, with Ultranecro, Psychic teams may be underrated, especially when their boss has Neuroforce, a VERY useful Ability in this meta. The team will be “Preparing for Ultranecro sweep” team with teammates appearing as support for Ultranecro.

Mega Gengar and Mega Lucario ARE viable here btw, unlike in Gods and Followers, because your followers aren’t limited. Giving your teammates Ghost type is a really good deal, though I’m not so sure about Fighting.

I'd really like to know, do moves like Quick Attack and Bullet Punch become +2 priority?

For Prioritize, I came up with some interesting sets for the meta:

Breloom @ Life Orb / Focus Sash
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Power-Up Punch / Focus Punch
- Spore / Substitute
- Swords Dance / Substitute

Bruxish @ Life Orb
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Fang
- Crunch
- Psychic Fangs
- Swords Dance

Poison Fang having a chance to poison while being boosted by strong jaw and having priority is ridiculous. This will be great for wearing down walls, annoying checks, and a great way to revenge kill faster threats. It could be a low key threat, or just a decent one lol

Sharpedo @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Poison Fang
- Ice Fang
- Psychic Fangs
- Crunch

Poison Fang could be a way of avoiding running protect. It also makes Sharpedo-Mega much more annoying to deal with outside of late game, having a chance to poison switch-ins.

Medicham-Mega @ Medichamite
Ability: Pure Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Power-Up Punch
- High Jump Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Ice Punch

Power-Up Punch could be extremely deadly on Medicham-Mega. Turning him into "no-switch-ins". Mew literally would have trouble switching in as it now has a decent way of boosting. This might have to get banned as it now has a better way of dealing with faster threats (STAB priority now), and it pretty much has no switch-ins.

Tapu Bulu @ Rose Incense
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 112 HP / 252 Atk / 144 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance / Bulk Up
- Horn Leech
- Megahorn
- Leafage

Leafage is an interesting move for Tapu Bulu. Finally having priority is good, but it pretty much has the power of E-Speed. Unlike E-Speed, it actually hits mons for super effective damage. This could be a very deadly set.

Magearna @ Fairium Z / Fightinium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 120 SpA / 136 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind / Shift Gear
- Aura Sphere / Focus Blast / Ice Beam
- Fleur Cannon
- Charge Beam

A fat mon like Magearna with priority? Oooh, trouble for sure. Enough speed to out speed bulky lando, by the way. Not only that, but Charge Beam giving boosts, soul-heart giving boosts, and calm mind boosts basically means free fleur cannons. With all these boosts, you're also killing Blissey real quick. You could also run a shift gear version with max special attack and max speed. These sets would be very obnoxious.

Edit: My bad on Bullet Seed Priority mistake lol. I saw dual chop everywhere and assumed all multi-hitting moves got priority. My bad. Power-Up Punch is definitely a good move to use over rock smash too. Forgot that even existed lol.

Technician boosted STAB Bullet Seeds with Priority sounds like a good deal for Breloom. Breloom would be even harder to check due to dual priority. Rock Smash is also great for weakening switch-ins.

Bullet Seed doesn't get priority.

Multi-strike moves that can hit 2-5 times at random are unaffected as well.

Additionally, Power-Up Punch would be much better than Rock Smash on Breloom and Medi. Mach Punch is also still an option on Loom for +2 priority.

Metagame Jamboree

Concept: A Pokemon named after an OM will function under that OM's mechanics.
Clauses: Standard Clauses, Metagame Clause (A meta's additional clauses are applied to any Pokemon subject to their mechanics.), Banned Meta Clause (Naming a Pokemon after a banned meta does not have any effect.), Shared Power Clauses (Illegal abilities can not be activated by Shared Power, Only one ability of a Pokebilities Pokemon can be activated by Shared Power, Shared Power can not use items from Dual Wielding.)
Bans: Metagame bans, using certain metas (Banned metagames are in the spoiler "Banned Metagames")
Threats: Pretty much any threat of a legal meta is a threat here. Triage Buzzwole, Tier Shift Pyukumuku, Inheritance Celesteela, all of them could be considered threats here.
Questions for the Community: Are there any other metas that should be banned or unbanned? Any Pokemon that should be banned or unbanned? Are there any problems this meta may have?

So let's start with this Mimikyu set.
mimikyu.gif

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch

Now, let's say we wanted to make it able to abuse priority. Well, we can do that here!

mimikyu.gif

Fortemons (Mimikyu) @ Shadow Sneak
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch

By naming the Mimikyu "Fortemons", we made it able to use Fortemons' mechanics, thus allowing it to get +1 priority on all of it's attacks by having Shadow Sneak as it's item.

Now, let's take a defensive Landorus-Therian.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice
- U-turn

There is a lot that could be improved upon here. However, we can make those improvements.

landorus-therian.gif

STABmons (Landorus-Therian) @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Beak Blast
- U-turn

Now it actually has Flying-type STAB, and a way to inflict status.
But we could do better...

landorus-therian.gif

STABmons (Landorus-Therian) @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Thousand Arrows
- Beak Blast
- U-turn

...If Thousand Arrows wasn't restricted in STABmons.

You may also think of having a certain someone on your team...

chansey.gif

Balanced Hackmons (Chansey) @ Eviolite
Ability: Imposter
- pretty much anything

...but use of Balanced Hackmons is banned, so no Imposter Chansey for you.
As to be expected (hopefully), there are banned metagames that can not be used. There are different groups of metagames that are banned from usage. Here are all of these such groups:

OM Mashups
The reason why these are banned is quite obvious. Balanced Hackmons is placed in this category as it has traits of AAA.

"Nontraditional" Metas
These are metas that stray too far away from the core gameplay of Pokemon. This is definition may seem vague to some, so I'll provide a list of metas in this category:

  • 1v1 (And any metagame based on it, like Chimera)
  • Monotype
  • Suicide Cup
  • Benjamin Butterfree
  • Follow the Leader (Subject to change)
  • Gods and Followers
  • Godly Gift
  • Pet Mods
Uber-based Metas
Any metagame based on the Ubers tier is in this category. It should be obvious why these are banned. However, Scalemons is exempt from this.

Other
These are banned for miscellaneous reasons.
  • Ultimate Z
  • OMs that do not affect a Pokemon directly (e.g. All Terrain)
  • OMs that do not affect a Pokemon at all (e.g. Mediocremons)
  • OMs that use names as part of their mechanics (Including this meta)
  • OMs that utilize fainting in their mechanics (Last Will is excluded from this, however)
  • Unofficial OMs
  • OMs that aren't available in Gen 7

  • Gods and Followers
  • Godly Gift
  • Pet Mods
Uber-based Metas
Any metagame based on the Ubers tier is in this category. It should be obvious why these are banned.

Other
These are banned for miscellaneous reasons.
That's so weird and broken that I like it. Also, how would work Follow the Leader? Does the pokemon named gives its movepool, or does the pokemon with this name gain access to the movepool of the first pokemon?

Triage Buzzwole, 350 Cup Spritzee, Inheritance Celesteela, all of them could be considered threats here.
Questions for the Community: Are there any other metas that should be banned or unbanned? Any Pokemon that should be banned or unbanned? Are there any problems this meta may have?

So let's start with this Mimikyu set.
mimikyu.gif

Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch

Now, let's say we wanted to make it able to abuse priority. Well, we can do that here!

mimikyu.gif

Fortemons (Mimikyu) @ Shadow Sneak
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak
- Drain Punch

By naming the Mimikyu "Fortemons", we made it able to use Fortemons' mechanics, thus allowing it to get +1 priority on all of it's attacks by having Shadow Sneak as it's item.

Now, let's take a defensive Landorus-Therian.

landorus-therian.gif

Landorus-Therian @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power Ice
- U-turn

There is a lot that could be improved upon here. However, we can make those improvements.

landorus-therian.gif

STABmons (Landorus-Therian) @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 240 Def / 16 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Beak Blast
- U-turn

Now it actually has Flying-type STAB, and a way to inflict status.
But we could do better...

This looks pretty cool! I just have a few comments/questions:
-Shouldnt BH be banned because everything would be broken, not because you can have any Ability?
-would there be a metagame clause limiting amount of pokemon from each metagame?
-under threats, you list Inheritance Celesteela but that's a nickname based meta, which is banned.

Otherwise looks very interesting!

Just going to edit in some threats:
Benjamin Butterfree Blissey
Camomons Mawile
Inverse Avalugg
Full Potential Tyranitar

So can any pokemon on the team have an om effects? Or did each pokemon have to choose a different om effect?

Kanto Cup

I guess stuff like Updated Kanto (the meta, not the player) and Kanto 2: Gen 1-Pandering Boogaloo work as well.

Concept: With the upcoming release of Pokemon Let's Go, a game which features only first-gen mons, a metagame featuring only these Pokemon could become a reality. What would a meta featuring the original 151 Pokemon look like when accounting for the updates over the past twenty-plus years? This includes but is not limited to: New evolution lines, the addition of Dark, Steel, and Fairy-type Pokemon, the physical/special split, mega evolution, z-moves, alolan variants, and more.

Clauses: Standard Clauses

Bans: Mewtwo, Mewtwonite X, Mewtwonite Y, Gengarite, Arena Trap

Threats: Most mega evolutions will be even more threatening after some of their traditional checks / counters cease to exist.

Questions for the Community: Are some megas and z-moves broken? Which Pokemon have become more or less viable with the updates as well as a much smaller meta? Will the meta be like Gen 1, with a few staple Pokemon and a chess-like battle, or like recent gens, with many viable mons and a less predictable environment? Would people please stop suggesting metagames based on Gen 1, for the love of Arceus?!

I realize that similar suggestions have probably been made in the past. Despite this, I believe that the release of a new Gen 1-centered game warrants at least a discussion about a revamped Gen 1-esque metagame. Ideally it will be competitive and enjoyable. Feel free to roast me now.

Some more Prioritize sets.

hoopa-unbound.gif

Hoopa-Unbound @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magician
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Confusion
- Dark Pulse
- Focus Blast
- Psyshock

Hoopa is one of the strongest Psychic types to get Confusion, and it helps patch up its okay speed.

pinsir-mega.gif

Pinsir-Mega @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double Hit / Cut
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Close Combat

ambipom.gif

Ambipom @ Silk Scarf / Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double Hit / Cut
- Power-Up Punch
- Knock Off / Pursuit
- U-turn

Double Hit is basically a stronger Double Kick, at 70 base power. Not quite as strong as Dual Chop, but it's still really good when paired with abilities to boost its power. Cut is weaker, but might have merit if the meta becomes infested with Rocky Helmets to counter stuff like Double Kick, Double Hit, and Dual Shop.

charizard-megax.gif

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Flame Charge
- Dragon Claw
- Roost / Earthquake

Flame Charge has a niche in being a priority move that becomes very hard to outprioritize. It's unfortunate that Zard lacks Dual Chop, though.

350 Cup is an Uber based meta, which is banned. Anyway, in this meta, you can do crazy things like this lol.

Metagamiate (Kartana) @ Life Orb / Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance / Leaf Blade
- Return
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off

Camomons (Mawile) @ Mawilite
Ability: Intimidate

EVs: 160 Atk / 96 SpA / 252 Spe

Don’t get me started on -atespeed mons, Boomburst Noivern in any meta, Inheritance Torkoal + Heatran, Sketchmons Lele with Psycho Boost, Nature Swap Naughty Azumarill... and many more I forgot.

If i am not wrong, mega gyara is the only dark type in the meta, unless all eeveelutions are allowed, so he might be an overcentraliced pick to stop alakazam and mew (the new lele). With hp fire for scizor and focus blast for magnezone, mega alakazam might be quite threatening. Also every pokemon that resist shadow ball is slower than gengar and weak to focus blast, so gengar has perfect coverage and he can use 2 slots for utility, and being one of the only 2 ghost types is really neat (alowak might be interesting tho, as it checks zapdos reliably)

Edit: i forgot alola muk.
