Okay, it's finally clear why Enamorus has such a long tail.

When using Springtide Storm (and possibly other non-contact moves), the tail contorts into a glowing-pink heart.

Something a little odd I noticed while playing through the game - apparently Dartrix evolves at Level 36 instead of 35 in this game to match with the other starters.

Haven't confirmed if Cyndaquil's level requirements were changed at all, but if so that's kinda cool.

I think I might have sequence broke some available Pokemon to catch by accident. If you dismount wrydeer at the height of your jump, you can get a bit of extra height getting onto ledges and platforms. I was able to get to some area with a level 40 wild pikachu and an alpha raichu while the surrounding Pokemon were level 20ish. Keep that trick in mind I guess if you want to go wherever without sneasler.

Apparently this trick also lets you get to the area with Goomy that you otherwise need Basculegion to get to. There's some spot at a river splitting near the bottom of the map, I read.

Speedrunners already tingling for this

A side note, but one that I feel is worth bringing up that came to mind after I remembered that trading exists in this game.

I know you don't need to trade to evolve them in this game, but has anyone figured out if trading with other players in this game still unlocks evolution for the original four trade evolutions (ie Alakazam, Machamp, Golem, and Gengar)? I know you could feasibly use the HDMI cable on them and that will trigger their evolution, but if you do trade them to someone else, will that trigger/unlock evolution for them? Like if you say, trade a Kadabra for a Haunter, will that cause both of them to evolve into Alakazam and Gengar immediately after they reach the other player (or grant them the ability to evolve them as soon as they obtain them from the player they are trading with)?

It's something I thought was worth bringing up, and no one has discussed beforehand.

If my memory serves correctly, my Cyndaquil gave me the option to evolve at level 17 instead of 14.

I have a question, how is a full moon for Ursaring's evolution determined in game? Is it a certain day of week or month?
It's determined by whether or not the moon is visibly full. The day/night cycle is no longer tied to the Switch's clock (THANK ARCEUS that was long overdue imo), and you can skip to different times of day as you so please. You just have to angle the POV to check the moon's phase and/or just attempt to use the item on Ursaring and cycle back to night if it doesn't show as compatible

Currently chaining for a shiny Goomy, can confirm. The area also has early Petilils if you want a Lilligant. (Just be sure to stay out of sight of the Alpha Sliggoo, that fucker's faster than it looks.)

I could see Flareon using Calm Mind, Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, and then slotting Superpower to hit Rock Types or special walls.

Serene Grace Moonblast… no thank you…

Steel Beam on Empoleon isnt super helpful, but the event one with Roost is a game changer. Honestly, even WITH power creep I think Roostpoleon could find a slot in “fullhouse” OU, thanks to its unique typing for blocking a lot of otherwise solid “2 pair” moves: Water/Fairy, Water/Dragon, Water/Normal… really, just putting a water resist on a steel type is a big deal, and finally being able to heal up afterwards is going to make it a pain to deal with, not even mentioning the Offensive possibilities.

Wave Crash in general might be nuts. It’s either a stronger Priority move that has recoil, or a recoil move that boosts your speed stat. Either one is nuts for any physical water type that learns it

I could have sworn I saw that Typhlosion-H also gets Calm Mind. If it does, that’s honestly pretty massive. Technically Chandy hits harder with it, but Ty has a better speed tier, and even if it DOESNT get Focus Blast (it probably will tho), Focus Punch as a possible TechRecord could even be run Dry on a Calm Mind set thanks to the immunities: if you switch into a Choiced Close Combat, they kind of HAVE to accept that you either get a free SpA boost, or you Take a huge bite out of Blissey or Chansey on switch in, opening the door for later special sweepers

Mach Punch and Drain Punch for Machamp. Freaking. Finally. It’s still not as minmaxed as Conkeldur, but having a STAB priority at least evens it out a little bit.

Should Mega’s return, Lopunny-M now gets Scrappy STAB Mach Punch, and BP 120 normal STAB

Baby Doll Chansey might have some meme utility to shrug off scarfed physical mons, but it’s probably not much to write home about.

Gardevoir’s packing some HEAT. Technically it’s packing Cold, but you get the idea. Aura to kill Steel Types without needing to risk a miss, Ice beam for Landos, and Recover is nothing to scoff at when you’ve got Trace and good SpD. Not a move I’d run, but Gardie’s gonna be a lot harder to predict and counter now

If power shift works like I think it does, Gengar can turn itself into a special wall. Not useful, but could be a fun gimmick with willo and Pain Split

Probopass, on the other hand, might be able to turn itself into a nuclear glass cannon

There’s a reason people don’t usually run Acid spray, but an AV Tangrowth with AS and Giga Drain sounds like a pain to switch into. Maybe better to just double click Giga, but an untauntable way to halve someone’s SpD on a Pokémon that’s already ridiculously hard to remove sounds… unpleasant

I doubt it, but I wonder if the abilities of the new pokemon/forms will change in the upcoming generation. The reason I say this is because there were no new abilities added to all the pokemon(Even the New legends), while most of them remained the same as their counterpart. Like I said though, seems unlikely but I wouldn't say it's impossible.
Yeah I'm definitely hoping some of the mons whose regionals have the same ability are just placeholder. IIRC no regional form has had NO ability changes

I didn't really give this conversation much thought at the time. In fact, I dismissed it as wishful thinking. Of course Zoroark keeps Illusion, for example; it wouldn't be Zoroark without it. But now that I've acquainted myself with the kits of Enamorus and some old favorites, I've taken a closer look at some Hisuian forms that never really piqued my interest and found them... incongruent with the Pokémon the trailers seemed to be building up.

To name the most glaring example: something's up with Hisuian Growlithe. All the advertising underscored its "stony horn," and the dex confirms its fur is made of volcanic rock. Its entire reason for being Rock-type is the big, rhyolitic helmet obscuring half its face. Yet in-game, Growlithe does not learn Head Smash despite the move being fully implemented for sake of Rampardos—you know, the one Rock-type move that would make use of the rocky horn. Nor is it listed with the ability Rock Head, which would be the one other logical extrapolation of its core flavor. For all practical purposes, its one difference from a regular Growlithe is STAB Rock Slide. It is lacking.

If Growlithe is to be denied Head Smash and even Megahorn, then what was the point of basing the new variant on a horn in the first place?

With such an enigma as this on the table, I don't suppose I can blame fans for speculating the abilities will change down the line. As currently implemented, H-Growlithe's kit doesn't make a lick of sense. It needs something to help it stand apart from the same old Growlithe we've been seeing since Kanto, and I'm not convinced Rock Slide alone does the trick. Visually, it has an identity. Mechanically, it has nothing but old tack. Nor does it have any DLC surprises to tease like Galarian Slowpoke, the only other regional form with so little distinction from its counterpart. So what gives? Is something missing after all?

I hope some of the abilities do change somewhat. In my opinion, they went the very lazy route with some of them, basically just keeping it the same. Heck, Electrode is almost identical to its Kanto form with the exception of the Grass type being slapped on to it. It has the same stats and abilities and very similar movepools.

At least once they come to a main series, we may see their movepools fleshed out a lot more, hopefully.

Apologies if this has been posted. But going back to Khu's riddles about Gen 9 news being in April.

Then for Pokemon day end of Feb., I guess that means we're expecting DLC news for PLA? Boy, can't wait. You know they won't just stop at 242.

Honestly, seems like a case of Pheromosa. Its marketing and name all pointed to a Pokemon who used pheromones to enamore anything, but then that goes completely ignored in both its Pokedex entries and its moves, instead focusing on its speed, its kicks, and its very unhealthy fear of uncleanliness.

No glitches required for this one. There is a tall outcrop overseeing that area in the southwestern direction, from where you can cross the river with a huge leap. Got an alpha Sliggoo there which is able to immediately evolve into Goodra.
