The gorilla does not have an Afro, it has drummer dreads. You know, for the punk theme. There was absolutely zero controversy about this. And obviously it did not apply to gen 1. Because gen 1 was made by a group of friends. there was no committees back then, and Jynx is the main reason why this is.Well they clearly don’t do their job or they were implemented very late given Pokemon’s history, even past Gen 1. Even in Gen 8, there is a Pokemon that’s a monkey with an Afro.
I’m talking about Darmanitan-G, not RillaboomThe gorilla does not have an Afro, it has drummer dreads. You know, for the punk theme. There was absolutely zero controversy about this. A gorilla with a (predominately white) genre style of hair is not a controversy. That’s grasping, and pretty silly grasping at that.
Well, I’m not quite sure what the argument would be here then. It looks like a snowman, and I do not recall any significant controversy relating to its design.I’m talking about Darmanitan-G, not Rillaboom

That's not an afro, that's bed hair.
on the other hand...
Ahem. Also, if you want a concrete example, I was think something along the lines of Guns N’ Roses or Twisted Sister as being the inspiration for Rillaboom’s hair.I think they were referring to Darm-G.
Also that’s not bed hair, that’s whatever hairstyle so many bands in the 80s adopted.
Weezing got new abilities, and Aeiglash got stat decreasesI am in the more pessimistic camp regarding buffed since almost nothing in Sword and Shield got stat buffs or new abilities iirc. Misty Terrain and Grassy Surge will probably be on new Pokemon.
more deserving? maybe, but I think the thing you're missing is that both sunflora and wigglytuff already have 3 abilities whereas gogoat and florges have room for one more ability, the only time they have ever replaced an ability on a pokemon was replacing levitate with cursed body on gengar for consistency reasons (gengar... doesn't float)I'm going to side with the crowd that expects old Pokemon to be buffed. Gogoat and Florges are pretty good guesses. But, looking at the dex, I think Wigglytuff and Sunflora are probably more deserving in my eyes.
less things got direct buffs in sword and shield but that seems to be more of an exception considering both gens 6 and 7 had numerous stat buffs to old pokemon, I understand the pessimism but a lack of many new pokemon that the surges with fit with makes me belive that it's going to be put on old onesI am in the more pessimistic camp regarding buffs since almost nothing in Sword and Shield got stat buffs or new abilities iirc. Has any leaks mentioned if the Origin forms for Palkia and Dialga will be available in this game?
Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are said to be transferrable via the leaked dex list. I am almost 100% certain this is due to two of them getting new forms in Legends: Arceus so they can be used in a more traditional title.
Trimmed the list of all your "Definite no" for convenience. Looking at the remaining possibles: Cacnea, Carnivine, Foongus, Ferroseed, Dhelmise all seem...not grassy enough. If I'm giving Grassy Surge to something, it's not a mushroom or seaweed. They gave Exeggutor a new regional form very recently, I think they'll let that mon rest a bit before more changes. That leaves Oddish, Bellsprout, Skiddo, Fomantis.Grass
- Oddish
- Bellsprout
- Exeggcute
- Cacnea
- Carnivine
- Foongus
- Ferroseed
- Skiddo (pls don’t make me run two Gogoat just to have fun with Grass Pelt)
- Fomantis
- Dhelmise
Fairy
- Floette
- Spritzee
- Swirlix
- Carbink (Incidentally, I wonder, if they ever gave Carbink a 2nd Ability, would they do the same for Diancie for flavor’s sake? IIRC it’d be the only Legendary/Mythical to have two regular Abilities, aside from Zygarde who’s kind of a special case)
- Klefki
- Milcery
Aww, I usually like fossil mons.- Lileep (would presumably, though not necessarily, indicate a 2nd Ability for Anorith as well; although, I think it was confirmed by either Khu or Kaka that there were no Fossil mons in SV?)
Speed Boost on Scoliopede instead of Poison Point, and swapping the HAs on the Legendary Beasts+Zapdos.more deserving? maybe, but I think the thing you're missing is that both sunflora and wigglytuff already have 3 abilities whereas gogoat and florges have room for one more ability, the only time they have ever replaced an ability on a pokemon was replacing levitate with cursed body on gengar for consistency reasons (gengar... doesn't float)

...
Yeah, Skiddo seems obvious, though I could see some interesting options with, say, Grassy Surge Bellossom and putting something else potent on Vileplume.
For the Fairy list: Honestly, could be basically any of them, they're all very similar mons. Not Klefki, mostly because it's already pretty good, but the rest...stick their names on a dart board and it'll be as accurate as any guess I can make.

Or they do the chandelure treatment and swap out the HAs with something worse.
Just imagine if we got shadow tag chandelure... now lets all agree never to imagine that again.
Can we expect stat leaks before the game is released?
every pokemon game since gen 6 has leaked before release, I highly doubt this game will be any different, it's technically possible but I'd give it like a 95:5 in favor of it leaking at least a few days earlyIf previous game leaks are anything to go by then yes. I remember stats and movesets for SM leaking well over a week before release.
That is to say it's possible but not a guarantee.
Cursed Body Gengar was almost certainly done to nerf it. Either way they've done it before, they could do it again. Unlikely perhaps, but very possible.but I think the thing you're missing is that both sunflora and wigglytuff already have 3 abilities
I highly doubt it was done to nerf it, base gengar was completely fine in vgc, if they wanted to nerf gengar they would've targeted it's mega instead, yes, they've done it before, but they've made a precedent of only changing abilities to fit the pokemon better, not explicitly as buffs or nerfs, speed boost fits the themes of the scolopede line a lot more than quick feet (especially whirlapede) and as I mentioned previously, gengar is straight up not levitating, I'm not trying to deny you the unholy abomination that is sunflora sweeping with grassy glide, I'm trying to be realistic, can you really say that the surge abilities fit either of those pokemon particularly well? or at the very least, better than the goat and the flower/ new mons?Cursed Body Gengar was almost certainly done to nerf it. Either way they've done it before, they could do it again. Unlikely perhaps, but very possible.
Would you deny me full power Misty Explosion Jigglypuff?![]()
gengar is straight up not levitating
