Sure thing. :) Btw, make sure you get to Kanto, hatch the Togepi and show it to Elm, and get Pokérus on your game. Then you should be ready to go!
Well, it's not really that hard, but if you are wrong, because you had to save because you wanted to check your SID, you have to delete your saved file first before you can try again. So, on DS, it'll take long, but it's do-able. :) I did it on my original Platinum as well.
But if you don't really care about legends, then you should start your SS game, finish it, and get yourself a flawless Ditto, find your SID, get some parents and fly to Goldenrod, then head south to the Day Care. Once there, I'll teach you to RNG abuse shiny perfect eggs.
Well if you abuse your ID/SID combo, you can capture Shiny Legendary Pokémon, with perfect IV's. I know how to do ID/SID abuse on Platinum, but I don't know how to breed there exactly. So, just think of what you really want, do you want shiny legends, then abuse both your SS and PT ID/SID combo's. And if I were you, I should really do breeding on SS, because 1. that's way easier then on DPPt and 2. you can get some tutor moves on it, which aren't available in 5th gen.
But it's your call, where do you want to start with?
