Yeah, now that you have a legit, non-chained, shiny you can find your SID with it and RNG for shinies with good IVs.

I'm not familiar with HGSS, except for grooming from Daisy; I heard that the haircut brothers give random happiness points. All I can say is keep cycling around with the Soothe Bell equipped (every 256 steps is 1 happiness point plus 1 extra from the Soothe Bell) - that's the only free way I can think of unless you have unlimited access to items.
You should've given it a Soothe Bell and massaged it twice (once in Veilstone City and once in the Resort Area Ribbon Syndicate). You can only massage once a day each though.

Yeah, that's definitely my Battle Tower Starmie lol. You can have it if you wish; those IVs are completely random though.
