Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
No timer because the lag of desmume makes using a timer inconsistent (at least for me).
The only thing I use is the windows clock and Patience. This is my on method so I'll try to explain the best I can.
Let's say the delay I need to hit is 678.
I know that a usual delay on HG (on a cart) is 490 for 14 seconds. I do some "testing" with some trial and error.
I set my time to 11:59:30 and soft reset at 12:00:00.
I wait and hit A on continue at 12:00:15 and note the delay, it was 560.
So I just keep soft reseting until I'm close enough to my delay (+/-10).
If you're hitting a close delay the problem it's probably your seconds.
Of course you need to synchronize with the windows clock since that's the time that your emulator uses.
Let's say your traget time is february 3rd 12:00:12.
Set your date to February 3rd and time at 11:59:30.
When it reaches 12:00:00 hit ctrl+R (soft-reset on emulator).
If the elm calls don't match, capture a pokemon as fast as possible and use the search for seed with the monsters IVs options and make sure you see the seconds you hit also. If you didn't see 12 seconds then that was your problem and you need to adjust accordingly.
Oh.. sorry forgot. In that case, you just have to watch the memory locations and stuff. Emulators lag which makes them inconsistent no matter what you're using to time. They're supposed to be easier, but I have no idea how.
Ok.. I can guess here. You're aiming for 12 seconds and you hit 12 seconds close to your delay. The thing is, when you're aiming for that particular second, it takes more than a minute. Are you setting your time to 4:48 before starting?
