anyway, all of this talking with you has motivated me to kickstart the distillery crawl planning and I've found a lovely little cluster of distilleries all within a 30ish mile area. it's in the speyside region about 60 miles northwest of Aberdeen.

obviously it would probably be impractical/suicidal to visit them all so we're working on narrowing the list down a little. Obviously MacAllan is on the list and will likely be a highlight, Glenfiddich and Glen Grant are up there too. Spot any names on that map that you'd recommend?

I know of MacAllan, had a single about a month back. Don't take this the wrong way, but I'm impressed at the variety and quality of whisky available over there. You've rang off a couple of the best names that I know of. how readily available is it...I'd have thought you'd have to order it specially. what do they generally serve in bars? Around here, most bars just serve the 'usual shit' ... the general selection being Bells, Teachers and Famous Grouse but we have a few specialist pubs dotted around where you can get the real highland brands. Still, I live just outside Scotland and I can struggle at times so I'm shocked to here somebody on the other side of the world talking like this.

nope, don't believe I have good sir. shall i take this as a recommendation? me and my pal from Aberdeen have been entertaining the idea of taking a 'distillery crawl' around the Highlands this summer and, after googling the location of the old fettercairn brewery, it seems like it might be within our range so maybe i'll be able to discuss it with you in a few months time? will keep an eye out for it the meanwhile. I see you drink Glenmorangie...one of my favourites! soft and fruity but in a manly way! You tried any of the others I listed? Oh, and I forgot to mention Speyburn, that's great too. Would welcome any suggestions really
