np: XY OU Suspect Testing Round 5 - Ghost of Perdition

This suspect test has been very interesting to go through and despite the fact that I simply don't have the skills to get to reqs (for whatever reason that is, I just can't seem to do it), I've thought long and hard on what my opinion was on Aegislash. 1. Set Dominance Having played from the...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

    >sinning Which in point proves you CAN'T read and am no longer worth my time. Thanks for proving that to me. Just...stop. If something is uncompetitive because you can't outspeed it, then it stands to reason that its also uncompetitive in all other metas where this is the case. The replays show...

    >No Choice Scarf and somewhat comparable metas Try again. Electrode enjoyed a near impossible to "revenge-kill" Swagger, which was the point.

Other XY OU Viability Ranking Thread (B- and C+ Pokemon discussion)

A Rank seems to me fine for Mega Scizor. He does fulfill a few niches, such as a bulky Defogging and a powerful Swords Dance set. But it does have its issues, notably in that several Pokemon in the S and A rank can set up on it(both forms of Charizard, and even Aegislash if it runs HP...

That's because I'm ambivalent on the issue. I'm not anti-ban, but neither am I pro-ban. I can relate to it being late though so don't worry. ^^; I don't feel the arguments on either side are strong enough for me, especially after testing, but I do lean towards nipping Swagger in the bud.

While I agree there has been a lot of bad posts lately(every person who mentions Numel makes me want to hit my head on the wall), this isn't going to endear you to anyone. At least try to keep it civil please? :3 Now, I must admit that while I am familiar with the concept of Prankster + Swagger...

Tabuu: If it's something that would rile people up by singling people out, don't say it as a general thing. It tends to make matters worse. I'm not ticked off, not in the slightest, but other people might and in general some civility and respect is a good thing. I think I need to make this...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Gen III shows why Prankster isn't the problem. People says that confusion that outspeeds every Pokemon is bad. This has existed in the past. This "unavoidable 50/50" situation existed in the past, and not a single person thought it was "uncompetitive". People keep saying "Prankster didn't exist"...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Wrong. The problem with Prankster Swagger was that its impossible to revenge kill, but without Prankster you could use Choice Scarf. Gen III didn't have CS, so there was impossible to revenge kill Swagger Pokemon. And yet? Swagger was never banned.

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

This is the best thing right here. People have forgotten, or are entirely ignoring, that this strategy has always been a thing. People who argue about Prankster making it unable to be revenge killed don't pay attention to the fact that one could use this strategy in Gen III, where on many...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

You really need to stop assuming that's what other people are actually saying. I never once said that people will win with SwagPlay with Electrode. Terrakion and Latios do exist(though I haven't seen Scarf versions of them in a while.) The argument is that confusion's 50/50 chance is...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

For the sake of argument, I would like people to look at http://veekun.com/dex/moves/swagger . Veekun allows you to sort by speed, and I do ask that people do so, because it essentially proves that Prankster isn't the problem. Why? Look at all the Pokemon that get Swagger. The fastest Pokemon...

First off, thank you for replying pipotchi. Now... >OHKO moves versus Confusion While I do see the comparison, it is noticeable to note that the chance of SwagPlay working for the Sub + Confusion is actually worse than using a OHKO move twice. 45% versus 51%. OHKO moves rarely if ever swept...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

    >ban Swagger, Confuse Ray etc on Prankster Pokemon How is this a problem? Actually, let me rephrase that. How is it a problem that's big enough to ban? I don't think it really is. Prankster Pokemon get the boost of having priority to their attacks, that's true, but there are other fast abusers...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

    >people saying ban Swagger because it does nothing for the meta So does Misty Terrain, Safeguard, Pound, Infestation, Acupressure, Power Split etc etc. That's a terrible argument. It doesn't actually try to pinpoint what the problem is. It's scapegoating, and that's simple. Swagger has never...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Honestly there is a pretty big difference here and you know it. The Evasion Move clause exists because every single Pokemon that learns TMs can learn Double Team, and so can abuse evasion. Not to mention the several Pokemon who can run Minimize. The Evasion Ability clause, let's face it, really...

SwagPlay, evaluating potential bans (basic definition of "uncompetitive" in OP)

Oh hi everyone. Though I'd put my two cents into this. Q1. Ban Swagger? No. Swagger as a move has existed since Gen II. Clearly if it had Uber-broken potential it would be have been banned four generations ago. So is Swagger the problem? No, its not. The move hasn't changed at all. Q2. Ban...
