  1. Jumpluff: Whimsicott PRIME! (No, still 0.5)

Jumpluff may get Sleep Powder as an advantage over Erufuun, but I never thought Sleep Powder was that useful for Pluff in the first place due to 4 moveslot syndrome. Subseed takes two move slots and Encore is a must have. I used Jumpluff on one of my Gen 4 OU teams and I felt that an attack move...

I wouldn't count on Focus Blast's shaky 70% accuracy to eliminate ScarfTar. There's definitely better Pokemon for the job. Also, Alakazam lacks Gengar's 3 immunities and 2 4x resistances, making it a lot harder to switch in.
  3. Pokemon Black & White, aka Gen 5. Coming to Japan in Fall 2010.

Really now? The "obvious banlist" isn't well-designed. Jirachi gets banned because it's an event Pokemon and Garchomp is allowed. You really think an arbitrary banlist by Nintendo beats one tested by thousands of people battling all the time? The tiers below OU exist for organization purposes...
  4. Pokemon Black & White, aka Gen 5. Coming to Japan in Fall 2010.

The Pokemon you mentioned were never good in competitive play in the first place. Porygon's stats are just unusable, and Misdreavus isn't great either. Would you use Misdreavus as anything but a gimmick in UU if Mismagius didn't exist? Probably not. It's slow and doesn't have much power, even...

That Lapras set could be run more effectively by Kingdra, who has better all around stats except HP, much more speed, better typing, and the ability to use Rain Dance as an alternative to Dragon Dance. A Mixed Dragon Dance set doesn't seem like a very good idea, though. Once you get a chance to...
  6. Pokemon Black & White, aka Gen 5. Coming to Japan in Fall 2010.

Why in the world would a random mid-game Pokemon like Sableye get an evolution with godly stats like that? 560 BST is higher than Arcanine's 555 and near the legendary trio standard 580. Something like 60/100/100/90/90/60 would be much more realistic.

Stop feeding the troll. As for the Blastoise, I'm agreeing with ChouToshio. That set actually looks pretty usable in OU. I like Spin leads because they render suicide leads useless. The best thing about Blastoise is probably that it doesn't lose to Metagross, Infernape, and a few of the other...

Sub eases prediction for Gyarados, but it's really a wasted move in a lot of cases since people don't often target Gyarados with status. DD or another attack would probably be more useful.
  9. The First Smogon Council - Salamence

Bronzong falls to two Fire Blasts (59.8% - 70.4% with MixMence, 72.25% chance of hitting with both) and the standard wall set doesn't do enough to 1hko with Gyro Ball, even after LO recoil and SR. It's a good check, but as mentioned Bronzong has better things to do than check Salamence. If...
  10. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

Fearow does not need survivability, because Fearow has three weaknesses to very common attacks, and will die in one hit to just about any powerful neutral attack anyway. Damage from common OU Ground/Fighting attack users: 0 Impish Hippowdon Stone Edge: 83.1%-97.8% - Adamant Metagross Meteor...
  11. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

Fearow's frailness is exactly what makes Life Orb a better option. Fearow is not going to live to sweep. The only thing it's capable of doing is hitting hard and hitting fast, and hopefully knocking down a Pokemon or two before it goes down. Expert Belt won't help Fearow at all. It's too weak...
  12. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

The biggest problem with Kingler besides a lack of STAB options is its poor speed and complete lack of bulk or immunities. It's going to have a hard time switching in on anything. I mean, look at your Hippowdon calcs. That's a 2hko on you most of the time after LO Recoil, and you only do ~50%...
  13. The First Smogon Council - Salamence

The biggest reason Mence isn't as decidedly Uber as Garchomp and Latias is its Stealth Rock weakness and lesser bulk. Mence is quickly worn down by residual damage, whereas the other two can get many switch-ins in one match, Mence is usually limited to 2, sometimes 1 or 3. Mence is every bit as...
  14. The First Smogon Council - Salamence

How the hell are you going to get Dugtrio in safely? Hope Tentacruel predicts a switch and Rapid Spins?
  15. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

I think Draco Meteor would be a useful move on a Focus Energy/Sniper Kingdra. Not only does DM hit for nearly as much as Dragon Pulse even at -2, but a Critical Hit completely ignores the SpA drop and will hit for full damage. A Critical Draco Meteor is basically hitting like you had two Nasty...
  16. Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 23 (READ THE OP)

With any luck, I think so. As long as they're simple.
  17. The First Smogon Council - Salamence

Even without Salamence, Stall is quite beatable. There do not exist 6 Pokemon that can hard counter every thing in the game. I like a metagame in which stall is actually a viable strategy and doesn't risk falling apart instantly as one Pokemon switches in. Of course, I'm exaggerating here...
  18. Pokemon Black & White, aka Gen 5. Coming to Japan in Fall 2010.

I would still prefer the weather to be present on the battle as a simple animation while you were choosing a move. Is it that hard to do?
  19. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

Looks like a pretty solid switch-in to Salamence, but I'm not convinced that a mixed Tank Bronzong is much good for anything else. It's beaten by the same Pokemon that normally switch into Bronzong, like Rotom-A, Gyarados, and other Bulky Waters. Charge Beam actually only does 32.4% - 38.9% to...
  20. New and 'creative' moveset/EV spread thread Mk. 5

MixMence 1hko's you 100% of the time with Fire Blast after SR damage. DDMence will be forced out, but it can do 79.4%-93.5% damage with Fire Blast if it chooses to stay in. Fire Blast does more damage than a +1 Earthquake, so I'm not sure why you think Salamence would use EQ in the first place...
