2010 music

so uhh i know this was partly discussed in the metal thread but..

Did anyone get Road Salt one by Pain of Salvation?

is anyone looking forward to The Obsidian Conspiracy by Nevermore? PoS already came out, and TOC is out this month i believe.
yeah, Road Salt One is quite decent, doesn't sound like the rest of the albums they had put out so far, but I think it's better than One Hour By The Concrete Lake; not better than Entropia or the other albums though.

and TOC has already been leaked for two weeks now, but I've been really busy and didn't have time yet to get it, though I've heard people saying it's definitely good

tbh I've been hearing pretty negative things about this album

and the one track I've heard from it was pretty terrible so I don't have high hopes for the rest of it
what negative things?

"hipster garbage"?

people who say shit like that are worse than actual hipsters.

i hate it because it because combining multiple genres doesn't always work. sometimes it is seamless, sometimes it sounds overdone. to me the album is a gimmick. it might open doors to better bands who do that kind of thing, and for that i'm thankful, but i just don't like the album.

more like it's devoid of any musicality and it's just "loud for the sake of loud", and things along those lines.

also I would bet it is hipster garbage D:

lol i only have TPE and Remedy Lane :(

I liked TGE and DHIaDW, so i was definitely going to check out TOC. I was pretty sure both have been leaked, but whatever :D

haha.

well first, there's nothing wrong with "loud for the sake of loud".

second, yeah it's fucking loud, but it's also catchy as fuck. :nerd:

Sooooo, there's not a whole lot coming out lately.

So since Arcade Fire's new album is dropping in less than 2 months, I listened to Funeral and Neon Bible again.

And I know previously I said "Ya well Funeral is so perfect, Neon Bible was good but it just wasn't as solid."

But now I'm thinking Neon Bible > Funeral for some reason.

Really excited to see Arcade Fire live at Lollapalooza. In my opinion, few albums ever can top Funeral, so I would say Funeral >>>>> Neon Bible.

I've gotta say I'm not really getting all the hype around Sleigh Bells. I've been sent tracks by four friends now, who's musical taste I highly respect - but they aren't doing it for me. I've listened to as much of their stuff as I possibly can, hoping for it to click...still waiting...:(

funeral is far and away better than neon bible, but you've probably just heard funeral so much that you forget about neon bible which is definitely still a great album.

and relating to the above post, mias kala just totally clicked for me this week and i cant fucking wait for her new album. xxxo is so good, holy shit. i love it when albums i didnt like just click like that. sleigh bells is another one, i wasnt so hot first time around but im enjoying it now.

Yea but, I mean.

Fuckinnnn Ocean of Noise and The Well & The Lighthouse are just so fuckinggg pro.

And I mean, Keep The Car Running, My Body Is A Cage, Intervention, I mean every song in Neon Bible is generally perfect.

Iunnnnnno, at this point I think Arcade Fire had better songs, but Neon Bible was more coherent as an album.

Bah, I don't know. I just know Funeral DEFINITELY does not totally outclass Neon Bible. So, tbh, Funeral = Neon Bible

I see what your saying like the Jay - Z Linking Park songs that came out not really good lol.

I dont really have a problem with the way they combined genres. Aside from the fact that the combined them with some of the most boring vocals I have ever heard.

I kind of have the feeling that they are intentionally being dull for ironys sake? Like it's mocking highschool bands or something.. Either that or they think they can get away with it by combining it with the other stuff.

Bleh, I dont know, I shouldnt play devils advocate.. Anyway, my assessment is it is pretty bad.

Have a nice day.

@ Altmer.. if you were using SHIT in the negative connotation, id have to agree with you... I guess i was expecting something different. Catchy riffs and some hooks using interesting melodies. Instead... i dont even know. Was it a bad album? I guess not really. But it definitely wasn't progressive metal, and it definitely didnt have that key PoS sound that is evident in past works (RL, TPE)

Nevermore's was alright but they dont stray too far. Loomis being loomis with some drums and melodic singing.

somehow i missed this post. o.0

personally i think they did an excellent job taking several different aesthetics and forming them into something new.

i love Treats and am really looking forward to what they do in the future.

I don't even care that it's not "prog metal" an sich but it doesn't even remotely sound like them apart from the fact Daniel is singing.
