it's even worse when you consider he did it against his old club - you'd expect a little more sportsmanship.

total sickener for Tevez who got booked for diving yesterday when he was clearly fouled and then this happens today haha.
 
You can clearly see Young's leg leaning out,searching for the leg that the defender had pulled out and as soon as he got that touch he jumped.I think we will have to conclude that phalanx is blind.
 
if free kicks are your criteria then id like to put Siggurdsson forward as potentially the best player in the premier league
 
Honestly, when Young deliberately punches a ball out of a goal in the last minute of extra time in a World Cup quarterfinals match, that's when I'll compare him to Suarez.
 
he is nothing like suarez, and nor am I blind, it looks complety differant to the angle i saw it from at the time.
and that view, makes it look more like he changed direction and stood on his foot.
maybe if refs gave it when players were honest it wouldn't be a problem

I think that's pretty sweet, it's nice to see that people actually do things instead just saying "that's so sad." I have huge respect for famous people who do stuff like that.
 
Wow. What a day for football. I'll start with Young. Absolutely vulgar. The contact is minor, he's shaping for it already with the trailing leg, then he goes over in the opposite direction like Tom Daly. Get that boy signed up for London 2012. Dives like that are what's giving our league a bad name.

And the afternoon, well. As a Spurs fan, I won't drag on, but I was pretty incensed. The first goal was a boss, and fair play to Drogs for pulling that out. The second, even Atkinson said isn't a goal, so why haven't we got goal-line technology, or refs who make decisions that don't ruin the match. Our goal was shady, i've seen keepers sent off, regardless of it going it, as it was a last man challenge. Our head were down though, understandably so, and so we shipped three goals. Just made it look like a drubbing.

I'm sort of glad we can concentrate on the League finish, but I don't have any faith in many of the officials now. Probably going to get cheated out of it. I can see where Viera was coming from, the refs do love the big teams. Probably because they line their pockets and wank them all off.

Yeah that's a really nice gesture by Di Natale, being the club captain and all he stands up for his teammate when it really matters which is really nice to see.

On the referee issue, you do wonder whether Ferguson and co give them something of a 'pat on the back' if they turn a few decisions for them. Ferguson's been at the top of the game for so long that he's bound to have made a few contacts or two over the years. Say if a referee has a bad game for Utd then Ferguson could have a few words and stunt the career prospects of said referee, or have a few words and help him up a bit if he has a good game for Utd. This applies to other powerful managers/people as well of course. I'm more paranoid than most on the referee issue mainly because so many key decisions have happened over the years where it shaped the title at a crucial moment or the champions league and FIFA are absolutely adamant that they do not want to change. FIFA probably have the biggest stake in the whole influencing referees thing because if a referee knows FIFA is not going to like a decision then they won't give it because their career could be on the line. I'm starting to believe it more and more anyway...
 
ferguson and guardiola are the main culprits. i also have a feeling that abramovic has been bribing referees out of desperation when he understood that sacking another manager isn't going to work.
 
Martin Atkinson giving chelsea descisions? as per usual. how he can give a goal when the ball has hit an area with 3 players just behind the line is beyond a joke tbh.
and they cant talk about referees, thier careers never change, they are crap in equal mesure.
Has ryan taylor never seen suarez?
 
I'd say that goal mattered if we won by 2-0 or 2-1 but we scored 3 more goals if i recall.

This is true, but something like that changes the whole momentum of the game. Instead of us having a one goal deficit to fight back from, we all of a sudden had two, which makes things a whole lot harder. Outlandish decisions DO have a big effect on the way a game is going.

Right, no, you got dicked fair and square. If it was 2-0 or 2-1 I'd get your point but that wasn't what happened, Chelsea scored the second (or didnt) and you responded well for about twenty minutes before it all went to shit. As has happened incredibly frequently with you lately. And if you want to argue the whole 'fightback from one goal/from two' actually it wasn't until the second goal that Spurs started looking lively, so by your logic he should actually have awarded the goal..?

Also, your goal wasn't dodgy, Atkinson let you play advantage and you scored. Hence no sending off for denying a clear goalscoring opportunity, and no penalty. I'm actually shit with the laws of the game and even I can understand this (even though obviously as a Spurs fan I'd rather have seen Cech walk and have the pen, probably, though that's a matter of opinion)
 
I'm not saying we deserved to win at all, we did look sloppy at the back, and having the second choice centre backs in wasn't exactly what I was looking for when lining up against a team like Chelsea. It is different though. you say we only looked lively when we were two down, but thats because we had to really push for it, leaving King/Gallas susceptible to pressure it's clear they can't handle anymore. At 1-0 we're not under so much pressure and can take a little more time to look for goals.

I'm not excusing our play, i'm getting regally fucked off with Tottenham, but I don't get how you can say "oh, the decisions didn't change anything". It's still an appalling decision, that could have made it a better game, even if the result still went the same way.
 
About Young, as a die hard United fan, I was absolutely disgusted by his antics. That was a ridiculous dive, and I have seen shitty dives *cough* barca *cough* but this was just awful. I was so glad to see Ferguson go out of his way to say that Young was diving. It is not like he didn't dive earlier. see:

I really hope this reduces to a minimal level. This was not just the case with Young, but with any player who plays football. Diving is shameful and is disrespectful to what the game stands for.
