What do you guys reckon about torres insisting that he's unhappy at chelsea.
"This season I felt things I had never felt [before]. I felt they have treated me in a way I was not expecting; not in the manner for which the club brought me here.

"We have had many conversations and, now the season has finished, we will have more talks to see what happens because this is not the role for which I came. I'm not happy. All this makes up for it, of course, but as far the future is concerned, well, football has been fair to me. Right now I do feel it's all worth it but the truth is I've gone through some very bad moments.

"The worst moments of my career have come during this season and I am not willing to relive those moments. There have been ups and downs, and moments where I've felt lost and didn't know what to do or where to be. I want to thank my family, the club's owner, who's always supported me and backed me, and, above all, the fans. If it wasn't for the fans many times this season I would have thrown in the towel."

He has no one but himself to blame for that treatment.He has performed miserably since his move from Liverpool.He disappoints almost every time he is given a chance.From what I hear,he's mainly unhappy that he was on the bench for the final.I mean come on,he can't say he was surprised to find out.Drogba has an excellent record in finals,helped us win the FA cup and Torres has been horrible.He should be happy he was allowed to make a substitute appearance even.I really hope we get Falcao and/or Hazard.We are the most needy of the top four right now.
 
Surprised about Torres, he had a rough ride early on, but since Di Matteo he has done well, if he goes i cant see Chelsea progressing as they would need to make too many big name signings.
 
There are plenty of big name strikers on the radar though, so I think he's replaceable.

van Persie will be wanted by a lot of clubs. There's potentially Higuain from Real Madrid. They've always had relative interest in Hulk, the Napoli strikers will be looked at. Falcao is another one.. I can see a team potentially trying to pinch Huntelaar as well.

That's just off the top of my head, but if Chelsea want to meet the asking price I think they could get a big name striker. A lot of strikers would be inclined to go to the European Champions if they got rid of Drogba AND Torres. They'd be the new focal point of a big team's attack, surely.
 
I don't think Van Persie will go to Chelsea, he has no more reason to go to Chelsea than stay at Arsenal. If he leaves, he will be looking at clubs that are currently very good, Barca, Madrid, Munich (dont think they want him), Juventus, and AC Milan. I don't think he'll stay in England if he leaves Arsenal.

i do indeed, my support of chelsea is basically something from when i was like 5 that i haven't really shaken off, i've never actually been to stamford bridge and i do actually try and avoid referring to chelsea as we but they are probably still my favourite premier league team!

Hoilett's out of contract actually, so it's a bargain pickup.

He does remind me of Gervinho and Chamberlain though. Been played as a second striker lately too I hear, and has responded with a little goalscoring run.

There's guys that are better than him, but I don't have a huge problem with him being here.
 
a little late, but on a side note kalou is probably leaving chelsea as well. (article here)
if he and kuyt are to play for feyenoord that's great news for me though! i think that with kalou and kuyt we have a good shot at the title.
 
So, is tottenham going to have to move Bale, Assou-Ekkoto, and/or Modric.

Those were the rumors before if they didn't get a champions league spot.
 
Yeah the big four was ^ that and is a dead notion tbh. Now there are 6-7 teams who could make a case for champions league football, not four teams finishing 10-15 points above the rest.
 
Liverpool are no longer fitting to be a part of it and I would name Spurs over us if we hadn't won CL.We only finished below them because we were poor earlier in the season and they were the opposite.But since Di Matteo took over there has been a big change in the team's form and Tottenham looked weak towards the end of the season so we're better than them as of now IMO
 
Yep, there are a fair amount of teams in the Premier League now with top four credentials and while you could have certain teams as 'outside bets' they could still do it. That's why it's such an exciting league throughout all the positions. Next season I do fancy it to be City/United and Chelsea/Arsenal, though. Spurs would need to keep Bale, Modric, and Adebayor, as well as sign another striker. They might need to have a slight dabble in centrla midfield and defence even if they don't lose those players. Then they might have a chance at breaking into the top four again. I don't fancy Newcastle to do as well again but they'll be up there if they keep their team together. I can still see them pipping Liverpool though, and Everton would probably finish 6th this time. But this is all early guesswork until we see which teams keep their best players or improve their squad the most.

@Metal Bagon: I think that is the case for Tottenham. I think they were of the belief that they could finish the season and see if they made the Champions League. If they did, Modric, Bale, and Redknapp would have agreed to stay and they'd do their best to sign Adebayor from Manchester City. However, the FA might have expected this and decided to move for Roy Hodgson instead (obviously not a certainty but not an impossibility. They'd never admit this though of course). So, now Harry Redknapp is 'stuck' in the job, although I'm sure he's happy to be manager of a team that is capable of making the Champions League. But, he's probably going to have to re-build some parts of his team again. I am very convinced that Luka Modric will move to Man Utd, Man City, Chelsea, or abroad to somewhere like Real Madrid. They might be able to keep Gareth Bale, but if Manchester United beat Manchester City to the signing of Eden Hazard, I can see City taking Bale instead in maybe a money + swap deal with Adam Johnson. I don't even rate Assou-Ekkoto much, he'll be at Spurs next season. Man City might be more inclined to offload Adebayor to Spurs now that they're not in the Champions League and if they lose key players they won't be 'rivals' of them at all next season either.

That's my view on Tottenham. tl;dr is: They'll lose Modric surely, Bale might go, they might manage to get Adebayor back.
 
Tottenham looked weak towards the end of the season so we're better than them as of now IMO

i do believe there's another team you have to overtake before you start gunning for Spurs
 
good god, I just found out that man U want Leighton Baines; I will break down crying if that happens as he and Jelavic are really the only things carrying Everton to thier current positions in the leagues.
 
apparently, not only chelsea are interested in hulk, he's also interested in moving to blues. assuming this deal does get done, i can see chelsea wreaking havoc with an attacking line-up of mata + torres (who seems to be getting back in form) + hulk. and if they do get hazard, it'll be even better!

and on a side note, i heard rumours about manchester city being inclined to offer 40 mil £ AND tevez for thiago silva.
