2011 Music

the new psychic paramount album is nuts

pretty clear glenn branca influence, maybe a bit of boredoms as well

This is stupid. It's really stupid. I don't give a shit if you're a moderator or not. Annoyance, and a slight hint of immaturity, is spawning from both sides. Nobody stir the damn pot, all of you are doing it.

i dunno how we all missed this but

shut the fuck up

no, he's right. it was stupid of me to slander ck like that and i did kind of go off on him a bit afterwards. i certainly didn't need to refer to his musical tastes as hogwash either. i respect that newer users have the courage to stand up to us mods when we overstep our boundaries, as it helps us stay grounded.

NAAAAAAAAAHT

I didn't see whatever's going on here go down but let's leave it at the fact that we all have our opinions.

2011 has been a pretty good music year. Not great, not terrible. There's no new singers/bands that I'm crazy for but I'm not complaining.

I decided to get some new music so I just bought Emmure's Speaker of the Dead and Hollywood Undead's American Tragedy. They're both good but they have noticable changes in their style, probably just the progression of time, not so much difference in year

I enjoyed In the Middle of the Night and Why Not Me. I prefer Black Symphony to The Unforgiving though.

Not too sure about any "NEW" stuff that's set for 2011, but I have recently been listening to the following;

Obadiah Parker
illScarlet
Sister Hazel
The Wallflowers
Mariana's Trench
In This Life
We Came As Romans
Eyes Set To Kill
Escape The Fate
Echoes The Fall
DJ Tiesto
Carolina Liar
All Time Low

A few songs from the new Wombats album are alright I guess, namely Our Perfect Disease and Walking Disasters.
On the other hand, a band I recently discovered that are pretty excellent are Funeral Party. They're an american indie band that are on their way to becoming big, and their sound is similar to a blend between Bloc Party, Two Door Cinema Club, and perhaps British India (sorry, Im probably not the best source of similar artists). Worth checking out their debut album, "The Golden Age of Knowhere". Noteworthy songs include "Just Because", "Finale", and "Car Wars".

listening to goblin now, and id say dont get your hopes up. easy to get swept up in the hype, but yeeeah. it all sounds kinda the same and tyler is undeniably bad at rapping. just like..way clumsy. those creepy keyboard/synth tones and stuff are in every single song and get pretty tiresome.

not completely irredeemable, though. feels kinda rushed as a whole but it has it's moments. yonkers is pretty much as good as it gets, but the beat and xylophones in tron cat is nice.

one of the best new bands i would say have to be the Arka Teks. these are two guys from Canada with a huge amount of potential. they do dance and electro music.

second listen through goblin....(im enjoying it alot at least)

but anyways late music listens have been incredibly solid so far with new Sea and the Cake. waiting to get ahold of it. it's exciting too because I've been listening through the Biz and Fawn again so I got myself hyped up for the one of the most consistent bands out there so I'm not concerned about it.

next 13 and god is out there, and it's a good recommendation, I also got myself hyped for it again watching their youtube videos of them live at some german festival. hard to explain an album like theirs but as a whole it's more cohesive to me and overall well done compared to the last album.

next is some hip hop instrumental mixtape from some dude clam casino which is fairly enjoyable.

low's c'mon is fairly typical of an album from them, but still really strong. Also fuming because I missed a chance to seem them live.

was Twin Shadow out this year? I just started to listen to it and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Especially Tyrant Destroyed and Forget.

actually downloaded wiz's new album just because I go nuts about The Race, otherwise waiting to get hold of the new grouper album. This year is really strong so far with releases, I'm pretty happy.

Oh God I was so looking forward to Goblins...my disappointment is just....it's not a bad album at all, but I was expecting more. He has moments where it's just like "Wow, that's kinda fucking stupid."

New Washed Out single "Eyes be Closed" is amazing, really looking forward to his new album.

Twin Shadow was one of the few good things to come from 2010, Shooting Holes and Forget were really good.

picked up a few new albums. ulcerate's the destroyers of all which was a pretty fucking solid album (death metal / post-metal). finally got weedeater's jason... the dragon, which seemed like a fairly typical stoner doom album just with the weedeater twist on things. i also grabbed wo fat's noche del chupacabra, and that blew me away. they have some serious groove going on in that album, so i'd say that any stoner metal fan should have it.

the next release that i'm looking forward to is a storm of light's new album, which isn't out for another couple of weeks. :c

Browsing through GameFAQs' alternative music board, I didn't realize people actually used the term 'rape gaze'. lol

yeah wasn't that one of the alternative monickers for witch house, along with drag or wtv?

yeah, I just didn't think it was in common use and most people just used "witch house".

speaking of, I haven't even heard much of witch house this year compared to last year.
