So....I'm guessing Liverpool are idiots? Try not to double post with the same topic, or double post at all. :)
Whilst Liverpool played poor in terms of transfers on deadline day, they have still made some significant deals. The young and fresh Sterling is a great addition to the squad, along with Joe Allen, both playing magnificently against City. Borini still needs to prove himself, but can be used as a backup main striker if Suarez is injured. Perhaps that will boost his performance? As for Liverpool easily getting a CL position if they tried, I doubt that's possible. Once decline kicks in, it's hard scraping back to the top. Look at Leeds, Blackburn, Inter, etc. The best they can hope for is a Europa League place, and I believe that will only happen with a cup win.
Now before you rant that I'm just a biased Liverpool supporter, I'm not. I support Chelsea. I just look at both points of view before deciding on a statement. I think that the deadline day idiots weren't Liverpool this time around, but Fulham. Losing Dembele and Dempsey really hinders the squad. Whilst they bought people of their own, none match up to those two players, and are potentially a waste of money. Berbatov looked sluggish and lackluster against West Ham, along with Keiran Richardson who kept on misplacing passes. Their only good player so far this season is Duff, but that's my opinion.
Sahin was signed to be Liverpool's new attacking midfielder. He looks like he needs a couple more weeks on the training ground to get his fitness to a decent level, then we'll see if he's good enough to be the answer. Liverpool unfortunately does not have a right sided winger at all (apart from Downing). It really does look like Rogers is taking the bill from Dalglish's spending. At least you can say Liverpool's new owners are astute and will not risk driving the club into massive debt by throwing money at every manager that comes their way. It looks like Rogers will have to work within his means to build his team.
After that showing from Arsenal I think I have a much better idea what the best starting XI could be this season:
Cazorla is still best as a wide player imo, and when Rosicky and Wilshere come back I think that's where he will play. He linked up so well with Podolski today, and where Poldi did the most damage was when he went through the middle with Cazorla supporting him. I'd really like to see Podolski going through the middle again even though it didn't work in the first game. We can see that Giroud has yet to adjust and he couldn't really do the 'big man' job at all today. Giroud as a backup option sounds good enough to me. The other interesting player to see was Diaby, he looked really sluggish in his last few games but today he was immense. He has the footwork of a small tricky player but he's huge. If he can perform like that every week then he is a nailed on starter.
As long as Chambo keeps fit to force Walcott and Gervinho to up their game then I think the wing situation is fine as it is. We just need the defence to keep fit because my god Jenkinson is an own goal waiting to happen and I don't want to see Djourou on the pitch at all!
No offense No Luck Involved, but have you ever watched Sahin play? He's no attacking mid.
He's more of a deep lying playmaker (similar to Alonso with his range of passing) that will fit in nicely next Allen/Lucas.
Gerrard is our AM but his form has been absolutely dreadful. This is why I wanted Dempsey as he could play in a lot of problematic positions and would bring goals to the team.
