2012/2013 Soccer/Football thread

Lol 2nd........Mourinho's too good. This guy bested fucking Alex Ferguson for two years in a row in his own backyard and you predict Pellegrini to outsmart him.

Well in fairness City this year have had long-term injuries to Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Kompany and probably some more that I've forgotten; and they sold Balotelli and basically threw money down the drain in the transfer market. They were really unlucky to lose all their best players at the same time, and they've only really come back from injury towards the end of the season. I'd expect City to be much better next year.

Chelsea on the other hand have had Terry injured and that's mostly about it. I think Chelsea could be amazing if they bought a top striker to go with the midfield, but then you could say that about a lot of clubs. So Mourinho will have to get a lot more from the squad than whoever is at City. It might be quite a close contest next season. Of course they might also flop, there's really no guarantees in football so we'll wait and see.

I can't imagine Utd dropping down much, so they'll be challenging. My only hope is that Wenger pulls his finger out and stop trying to troll everyone with Giroud and Gervinho and actually buy a top striker. The team has done unbelievably with basically no good striker (a bit like Chelsea I guess) and if we still had RVP banging in goals every game we might have been much closer to City and Utd... >:(

Also...

Arsenal will pocket about £2M thanks to Cesc Fabregas’s first league title triumph with Barcelona.
Arsenal will pocket about £1M thanks to Alex Song’s first league title triumph with Barcelona.
Arsenal will receive £500,000 from Hull City after their successful promotion to the Premier League, thanks to a similar clause in striker Jay Simpson’s contract after he swapped the Emirates for the KC Stadium in 2010.
Arsenal received £1.5M bonus due to a clause inserted in Van Persie’s contract when he signed last summer. The clause was activated when United won the title.

Couldn’t find a similar clause in Nicklas Bendtner’s contract though he won Serie A title with Juventus.

This might be a bit early, but what are all your thoughts for how the table will look next season? Personally I think that if City get Pellegrini and Chelsea get Mourinho, we could be looking at a Top 5 like this:

1 Man City
2 Chelsea
3 Man United
4 Arsenal
5 Tottenham
That's horrible.

1-Chelsea
2-Man United
3-Man City
4-Tottenham/Liverpool
5-Arsenal

PS. Today super important crucial amazing game, Wigan vs Arsenal. My thoughts 2-2.

Also i do seem like anti-arsenal but I swear im not. I used to like them but i completely gave up on them. They never improve.. what happened to the arsenal i once saw amazing potential in? I don't think they will challenge for top 4 next year at all with their current squad. As for the reason i think they will draw today, Wigan just came off a win in the FA cup their morale is high, and they want to stay in the premier league desperately. Arsenal are also desperate to secure a win, that's why it'll be a game with goals but i think it'll be 2-1 wigan with arsenal scoring a late equalizer to make it 2-2.

Again, my decision over next years top four is just theory because of rumours of management and transfers. If chelsea get mourinho and he brings in a world class striker and a top right back or centre back, i wouldn't bet against him winning the premier league. Now I'm putting city behind United purely because from what im hearing Pelligrini is comming in, i honestly think he's a great coach but he needs a season imo to adjust to the premier league. as for fourth, I see big improvements in Liverpool, they play attractive football and Coutinho and Sturridge have shown they're destined stars with undeniable talent. 2-3 Top Signings will make Liverpool a formidable force and hopefully return to the liverpool we remember. As for Spurs, I think if they reach Champions league this season they will spend this summer to strengthen their squad, they are heavily linked with Leandro Damiao, and an underrated Joao Moutinho which is what spurs have been lacking, a top striker, and a world class playmaker. It also depends if they keep Bale.

Sorry if i offended any Arsenal fans, but this is just my opinion :/.

Lol yeah we're used to ppl writing Arsenal off. You wanna see the pre-season discussion for every season since Henry left, I think ppl have kinda stopped cos they get tired of saying Arsenal will be mid-table I think it's just assumed now. Wenger still be trollin.

I will stop following football if Fabregas goes to Man U. No joke I will fuck off and try to find something better to do with my life cos that's how depressed I would be. In other words, let's all hope Cesc goes to Man U.

I'm an Inter fan, so I also heard rumous that he will come to inter :). But it is said he prefers a move to England.

Also I know it sounds unrealistic that Inter can buy him, but Handanovic is wanted by barca and he's valued at 30m, I think a Cash + Player deal can be made.

correct me if I'm wrong but I think Handanovic is still coowned by Udinese and so Inter would only get half of that and can't exchange him

Oh hot damn. I'm loving this match. Love when both teams have to go for it. We usually get the better of them, as long as its not United lol.

Game over Wigan, it was nice knowing ya. We'll hopefully see ya the season after the next.

stopped watching for a few minutes to walk back from my class, all of a sudden arsenal up by 3. christmas came early i guess. kind of interesting because the result makes newcastle safe meaning they might not fight as hard for our last game.

villa stayed up!! called them down after losing to bradford in the fa cup, have played really well the past month or so, deserve to.
