Didn't you just make the point that Trump's fans are unwaveringly loyal? Hillary won the popular vote by 3 million votes, and lost the electoral college by 70k. Why don't we try courting those 70k moderates in swing states who didn't turn out instead of jumping straight to attracting bigots?
what's wrong with attracting as many "bigots" as we can? Instead of targeting the 70k moderates why not target the millions of conservatives? Seems far easier to me. Especially when we've got THE most liberal bunch of candidates in history. If they're voting blue, bring on the bigots!

Because you know what will really suppress the left wing vote? Making the party more conservative. Not to mention the moral implications of deliberately disenfranchising marginalized groups.
err? Don't we have the most leftwing bunch of candidates ever? I don't think that the left is in danger of protest voting when we're against trump lol

At this point, Myzozoa is the only one of you clowns with any legitimate claim to being progressive, or even mildly consistent.

At this point, Myzozoa is the only one of you with any credibility on social issues.
why do u believe this white elderly twitter lady who professes to be an "LGBTQ historian" despite a complete lack of credentials? if you so desperately want to push this narrative that sanders hates everyone who's not "the white male working class" despite all the evidence to the contrary you could at least bother finding a source who has at least the vaguest hint of credibility to them.

anyway here's a source on bernie sanders being supportive of the LGBTQ+ community well before it was the popular thing to do. i'd collect more sources for you but you're too deluded and not really worth the effort.

Believe... what, exactly? Her opinion?

GatoDelFuego's question was "What's wrong with trying to attract bigots? It's easier!"

I answered that question. Why did you deflect to Bernie's LGBT record? We weren't even talking about him.

Can some mod please clean up these stupid one-liners? Half of the comments in this thread are completely irrelevant to the topic.

cuz thats what ur "source" is about. if u wanted to make a general point about how """the left""" shouldnt court bigots u could have simply linked a source that talks about why this is a bad thing rather than a tweet that is clearly making this about sanders. or just phrase things in your own words, idk

MikeDawg if you want to actually win this argument you need to change your tone. Here let me join your side.

Ahem.

GatoDelFuego unfortunately it appears that on this website being a moderator does not equate to any sort of maturity, responsibility, or moral fiber, as consistently proven by your actions. Your ruthless bashing of Lisa Talmadge only highlights the horrifying lows the far left will resort to in a futile effort to argue their point. Did you know that Lisa Talmadge has been a proud bisexual for over five years? She has also gotten a Masters in Business at DeVry University and is one of the greatest LGBT businesswomen in Eastern Wyoming. For over two years she has been a tireless LGBT activist fighting for the freedom of the oppressed. No but you wouldnt know that, wouldnt you. You only care about ruthlessly tearing her apart. Of course, expected nothing less from a LIBTARD. Your closet racism becomes apparent when you identify with JOE ROGAN - a man who is openly a Satanist and has been caught engaging in numerous ISIS raids. Everyone who has politically incorrect opinions must be stopped. They have to be away from us normal, non racist people. Smh.
In addition i am also saying "i cant reason with u sweetie" and deflecting any counterargument you make.

rather than a tweet that is clearly making this about sanders.

It was about Sanders because it was regarding Sanders' Joe Rogan endorsement. The quote she responded to said the same thing Gato said, and her response effectively summed up my thoughts. I have no obligation to spend unnecessary effort convincing a self-described progressive that empowering straight white supremacy at the expense of minority voters is bad when the tweet already did that. You can ignore the last 3 words in the tweet if you want, and the point will be exactly the same. Why aren't you asking for a source for his opinion? His comment was low-effort.

If they're voting blue, bring on the bigots!

Except they aren't voting blue, hence the need to explicitly attract them. What exactly do you think that entails?

err? Don't we have the most leftwing bunch of candidates ever? I don't think that the left is in danger of protest voting when we're against trump lol

In other words: minority voters don't matter, because they will vote for Dems anyway. Classic progressive sentiment! /s

Black turnout dropped 7 points between 2012 and 2016. Since you all want to talk about Bernie so badly, I wonder how low it'll fall when the nominee starts actively courting and celebrating dudes who call black neighborhoods "planet of the apes" and love saying the n-word.

I'm not responding to any more comments on this subject, but I hope I never read another comment here complaining that the Dems are too far to the right, and especially not disparaging a candidate for being too moderate on social issues.

where exactly are you seeing people claiming that anyone should move to the right on social issues in order to court people who typically don't vote for dems? the little bit of the article that lady is quoting already clarifies that sanders shouldn't do that (and she doesn't even bother responding to the rest of the article lol!)

also you completely misunderstand what a joe rogan endorsement means. the people who might be convinced to vote sanders are not hardcore conservatives, theyre most likely gonna be part of the like 45% of the country that doesn't bother voting because your political system gives them the choice between hardcore right wing political evangelicalism on one hand and a bunch of spineless bastards with zero moral convictions on the other hand. the entire "ROGAN'S ENDORSEMENT MEANS SANDERS IS COURTING BIGOTS" argument is predicated on the idea that joe rogan exclusively attracts right wing shitheads which is simply not true. believe it or not but there's more to america than dedicated bigots and woke baes

So can we talk about the irony of a work meant to raise awareness about media manipulation wrt taking things out of context by bad faith actors - itself getting taken out of context by bad faith actors?

In the original description:
Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man. The real, "I Have a Dream" speech is amazing. No one should be ever be judged based on their race/ethnicity. The purpose of this video is to show people that media on the web and TV can be edited to really twist facts/reality.

The description has since been updated to include: This intention has been clearly stated in the Youtube description for 10 years. Nevertheless, bad actors set out to destroy me have disingenuously presented this work (10 yrs later) as a "racist video"

Dude this isn't hard to check either. Stop taking random twitter takes at face value. Stop being lazy.

Out of hundreds of millions of speeches and videos in the world, why did he choose that one? It's really telling that his edit wasn't even an apology, but rather a, "Why is everyone so mad that I desecrated one of the most important moments in American civil rights history? Dumb snowflakes!"

White supremacy is more than just hate crimes and tiki torch marches.

For the viewers at home: this is the dude Bernie had to fire because they found out he was incredibly racist.

What is wrong with all of you this week? One Joe Rogan endorsement and the "identity politics" euphamism turns into actual bigotry.

Only to radical thought police with no sense of humor and no sense that people can grow and mature...

Cenk belongs in Congress, Bernie should not have un-endorsed him. Rogan is one of the greatest podcasters and more influential than the vast majority of MSM. Matt is a true progressive, an admirer of king and the civil rights movement, and an amazing videographer-- Bernie should not have fired him.

well my take is that white supremacy is a white dude coming into a conversation and telling everyone what is and isn't offensive but i don't think you're ready to have that conversation yet

Out of all your terrible takes in the last 24 hours, this is by far the most tasteless. I've done my best not to engage, but dude... what is wrong with you? Your obsession with me is melting your brain.

On another note, let's talk policy:

https://www.mediaite.com/news/norah...mises-you-dont-know-how-much-your-plan-costs/

Bernie Sanders said:
You don't know, I don't know, nobody knows how much it will cost!"

How has he been running for 5 years and still be so dreadfully unprepared? He doesn't even try to give an answer. This is almost as bad as his NYDN interview from 2016.

Gotta commend him on being so great at failing upwards, though. Truly amazing.
