thought i might post some teams that i built with poke

:tyranitar: Sand + Milotic Offense :Milotic:

basic sand milotic is for sand rotom's speed is made to creep jolly ttar and will o it safely so milotic can safely deal with the other 2.

:Togekiss: Semi TR feat Follow Me Toge :Rhyperior:

cool semi tr that deals with most weather e.g rain+sun and sand quite fun actually after testing yawn is extremely potent and allows mons like hydreigon to deal with the other threats.

:Charizard: Sun Feat Solar Power Zard :Whimsicott:

basic sun team the zard evs live a Brave Bird from Braviary and Scrafty Fake Out support beats opposing Dragapult which cause trouble otherwise and handles + Dragapult for rain.

As this is the playing phase of a viability project, I'd like to add the final note that I quite like this underused format they call "gen 8". I don't know how I'll be thinking about it a few months or years down the road, but for now it's pretty fun to try out an environment without some of the regular champion-mon.

Won 3-2 against kaif
G1 (Kaif double crits me to win)
G2 (I’m dumb)
G3 (Kaif misses rock slide which didn’t even matter)
G4 (I hit an 80% accurate attack)
G5 (I hit a 90% accurate attack)

Also Kaif: Bro I lost after that Hax

Ladder is finally up! The 2nd playing phase is over, so we're going on to the 3rd, which will be run a little bit differently, as a Ladder tour!

Thanks to DEG for post idea and other stuff

Qualifications:

1. I'm the host of the tournament, any question should be directed to me.

2. The qualifications will run for the duration of the month with pauses in-between, for #3. After each cycle, the top 2 accounts that appear on leaderboard will qualify (Using ELO).

3. These two players will bo7 in order to win that semiphases' prize (50 Kyubits)

3. In order to sign up, follow the Sign-Up format below and register your account on PS!

Forum name: Pokesartoolcay
Cycle # Alts: 2v2PP1 Pokesart
Do my alts for Cycle # contain my forum name or a very similar variation/abbreviation of it as required by the rules?: Yes!
YOU MUST SIGN UP WITH YOUR FRESHLY MADE ALT BEFORE STARTING BATTLES WITH IT. Your alt must be registered on the day of sign-ups or onwards to prevent people from registering an account beforehand and laddering with it to gain and unfair advantage. It's very easy to check when an account was registered and we will be checking to make sure people comply. You will be allowed to include 2 to 3 alts in your sign-up for each cycle. You will not be allowed to edit these alts after you include them in your initial sign-up for any given cycle. By the way, make sure to register your LT alt on Pokemon ShowDown!. It is advised that you once you sign up here, you immediately register the accounts on PS afterwards.

4. Once you make the top 2 and qualify you’re qualified. You are free to ladder any other week you wish.

5. Given that this is a ladder tournament, many of you are likely thinking there are ways people can cheat the system. Any person found cheating will likely be subject to punishments.

DEADLINE: SUNDAY 5th OF JANUARY 4 PM GMT -5

Have fun!

Hello! I'm not really much of an OM guy but I do kinda play DOU, I laddered for a bit and got #1! Anyways I'm sharing my team cuz I'm prob not gonna play with this team much again, and sharing this kinda stuff is good for the game probably

Darmanitan-Galar @ Choice Band
Ability: Gorilla Tactics
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Icicle Crash
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake

Mew @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Imprison
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Transform

Whimsicott @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Energy Ball
- Tailwind
- Protect

Dracovish @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Crunch
- Psychic Fangs
- Ice Fang

The core idea of this team was CB Darmantian + Whimsicott, with Prankster Tailwind enabling Darm to delete 1 or 2 Pokemon at once pretty much. This is essentially the "default" play of the build if there's nothing that obviously stops this concept, which is pretty invalidating to a lot of strategies just off of pure power alone. The back two are picked for specific match-up beating; Mew is there in order to stop Trick Room as well as anything slow and passive, being able to pretty much render moot anything that can't overwhelm it in two turns, while Dracovish is there as another hitter for the things that Darmanitan doesn't do as well against, with the additional Speed and different coverage being quite handle while still retaining the idea of overwhelming force. I have double Ice move on Darm purely as a ladder option, just so I become more consistent in winning games I'm already supposed to win; another coverage move is supposed to be better but for the context of the ladder I prefer it. Icicle Crash in particular is necessary for opposing Dracovish.

While building this, I tried to take into account various matchups; as a newcomer, I had to resort to replays from past tournaments. This team is absolutely UNBEATABLE versus sand; Dracovish essentially wins regardless of what support mon you pick, while Darm can win with Whimsicott though that's less guaranteed. Trick Room options should fall to Mew, pretty much, as well as any strategies that are simply too passive, are defensive, or take two turns minimum. Rain should be doable, with CB Darm + Tailwind Cott being able to pull it out most of the time. The idea of overwhelming force to invalidate most Pokemon and strategies lends this team few "bad" matchups.

Still, the lack of Protect on both hitters means that Fake Out Pokemon are really bad to deal with; Fake Out + fast hitter is favored vs this team, while Fake Out + set-up / slow hitter would still have to contend with Mew but is otherwise still pretty tough. Another note to make with this build is that Dracovish is easily the most replaceable; something like Dragapult could be nifty in filling up this slot to fix the aforementioned weakness and then some, but I haven't really fleshed it out.

Mew @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Imprison
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Transform

Something that I feel that is really good in 2v2 and I want to highlight is JailMew, which is actually a set that exists in DOU as well. I think the nature of 2v2 makes this set really strong as it can essentially solo TR strategies, and it also threatens most slow threats with a really bad time. The idea is to Imprison and then Transform into a select threat on the field, essentially invalidating them as they die to Struggle; what this is, then, is essentially a way to invalidate pretty much any threat that cannot overwhelm it by turn 2, allowing it to cover a wide range of threats by itself. This Mew is definitely a really solid 3rd option when building purely for its utility; as an added bonus, Trick Room can be really handy even when you don't have a Trick Room team, if only as a way to beat much more reliably beat Sand and Tailwind strategies.

Leafeon is underrated
Not as a sun abuser per se, but as a counter to Torkoal (and Ninetales but I personally did not need it to do that) teams. The set I've been using is occa berry max speed+special bulk (128/126, if anybody was wondering), which has a chance to survive Torkoal's eruption if it is not holding a boosting item. Obviously it should hold a boosting item, but the only Torkoal matchup where this is potentially a problem is Torkoal/Shiftry, where Shiftry can fake out, which is a 50/50 on whether to protect or not.
Against any other sun build it can click rain dance turn 1, neutering the threat of a sun team and buffing the water type you ought to be running alongside it (my choice is specs Milotic, though mystic water or water gem might work better to let it use protect)

And that leads into the second pokemon I think is underrated: Milotic. I know somebody was memeing about it before, but it does have a lot of utility here. Specs surf hits pretty hard, and icy wind is a nice move to have available against Dracovish teams and also all the other kinds of teams. Speed control is useful. Its movepool isn't fantastic, as in it is very bad, especially without hidden power. I have been running Surf/Icy Wind/Ice Beam/Dragon Pulse, and I have never clicked Dragon Pulse. As of writing this, I think I'm going to switch that to muddy water, which I guess could help to luck through a losing matchup, scummy as that is. Anyway, nerfing opponent speed is nice for obvious reasons, and rain-boosted specs surfs are strong. Good mon. Also competitive so it beats intimidate teams.

Anyway, I think that Leafeon has niche utility as one of few ways to prevent Torkoal teams from keeping sun up (minimum Torkoal hits 40 speed. Max speed Starmie at level 10 has 40 speed. The best way to underspeed it I think is level 79 Gigalith, which is a rabbit hole I think that the metagame does not want to go down.). Milotic has real utility not just as a counter to sun but also against defensive intimidate teams, sand teams that take significant damage from water moves, and is just a solid pick overall to provide some speed control with icy wind. It's not necessarily the best mon at each of these roles, but it can fill all of them passably and frees up a team slot for something else.
