5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

There's always the option of searching farther into the future; I've had to go past 2020 for good shiny spreads before.

If you're going to keep trying to hit this one, I'd again suggest trying to use Chatot pitches. It'll save you a lot of headache if you can confirm whether you hit your seed before doing all the advances and know exactly what frame you're on.

Also, have you done other shiny RNGs on this cart before (I don't see any in your trade thread)? If not, it's possible that you entered your ID/SID incorrectly in Time Finder.

It is my first. I got the SID off of Pokecheck.

I was also using a Synchronizer if that says anything. I did indeed hit the frame it looks like. Weird.

I'm avoiding going into the future for now for sheer legality purposes. Trying to keep things so I don't get flagged in any way (though my luck even with the way I breed without RNG'ing normally I get flagged, had one already. :( )

-James

as it wasn't shiny, you didn't hit your frame. Follow Voodoo's advice and use Chatot's pitches, that or look for a lower frame on a future year.

If you're absolutely certain you hit your frame (for instance, if you checked the PID and it matches your target), then the only possibility is that you accidentally put the wrong ID/SID in Time Finder. Otherwise, it's more likely you hit a nearby Synchronized frame.

Hey guys, I'm having trouble hitting certain PIDRNG seeds. I'm searching for a shuckle on Route 14. The seed i hit from using sweet scent immediately seems to be around 71 (71-45=26 advances). That seed happens to give me a shuckle with a mild nature. The VERY next seed is supposed to be a shuckle with a synchronized nature (and male), but I just can not seem to hit it. I tried other times and at other locations, and I'm consistently having trouble hitting CERTAIN pidrng seeds.

I'm sure i'm hitting my IV frame (half of the time at least... damn you timer0). Is there something i'm missing? I'm able to assign a seed to each pokemon i catch... They are all relatively close to my target seed, but i can't HIT the target. I have tried using a higher seed and advancing with chatot, varying the # of advances, and i still can't get this damn shuckle.

I'm hoping i'm missing something. Thanks guys!

I think it has do something with the fact that Shuckle appears in dark grass. Also, did you check for moving NPCs?

Hmm!! well, i will try now in the tall grass. I'm forgetting if i read something about certain seeds appearing in tall grass only?

As for NPCs.. i kind of just accepted they were there since my seed seems to vary SO much. I just figured i'd eventually hit number 72 or whatever it is, since i've hit 71, 73, 74, etc. .... but nope!!

thanks!

Nitpick: the term you want is "frame." It's not a huge deal, but it's easier to understand when everyone uses consistent terminology.

Wild captures in areas with NPCs are always hard, because they can advance during the Sweet Scent differently depending on how many advances you've already done. If you find you can't hit your target at all, you might want to try re-saving, which will make the NPCs start from different positions.

Newbie here, quick question about this guide

Where it says "4. Enter the date and time from Step 3" when are you meant to record the time? I figured at time of capture but when exactly? When the ball closes or goes back to player control?

I have just completed a detailed Entralink PID Abuse guide for anyone who has been waiting for one. There's also a link in my sig. Please note, however, that this guide was somewhat rushed because I'm leaving on a 2 month vacation tomorrow (technically today, but w/e) so there is bound to be mistakes. Please VM if you find any typos, or think I should add/remove something. Thank you :)

All right OD, I concede. Princess of Johto is clearly the best poster in this thread.

omg, PoJ, great job! i'll be using this on june 21-ish when DW comes back. :)

I noticed when I was RNGing something that The reporter was adding in a non-existent frame, or at least non-existent in the listed spot.

I've tested these multiple times each. The results are consistent.

Far more likely, you have saved at a point when an NPC is just about to move, and if you're just a split-second off in your timing, it's gonna mess up your frames. If you try 13 Chatot calls a couple more times, you should eventually hit that Calm spread.

POJ, the guide is nice and everything, but my 31/31/31/31/31/31 frame is at Frame 182 (one 5 128 steps and 6 talks). How would I calibrate for that?

-James

1. Flawless spread in legal dates (unfortunately like the only frame that does it with my specs)
2. Being able to hit the PID regularly

-James

1. Increase your delay range. Guarantee there'll be a spread with a lower IV frame than that.
2. Guarantee you won't hit PID consistently. PoJ's guide addresses what to do regarding this anyways.

Edit: then again, I don't usually use RNG Reporter/tried out latest Eon Timer for Entralink abuse lately.

Just a quick question: Why can't I seem to ever use the same seed for breeding more than once?

I recently bred a flawless shiny adamant Tirtouga, but when I try breeding another on the same cart, I'm either getting the wrong seed very consistently, or the RNG is getting advanced quite a way ahead of where it should be. This can't be just down to the random teacher movements, so I was wondering if perhaps there was something in game that is forcing the seed to change or something?

There's no such mechanic; others have used the same seed repeatedly without trouble. Hitting the wrong seed is just Timer0 being a bitch, but I'm not sure why you're getting the extra advances when you do hit it. Are you doing anything differently from before?

Because the NPCs start at a different location/movement after saving. ._.
