5th Gen PRNG Help / Info - Latest: RNG Reporter 9.96.5, PPRNG 1.15.0

I, as a new RNGer, was trying to set my parameters. I was able to fill everything out, but then, when i clicked search, a popup box appeared on the screen. It said that there was an unhandled exception found and that the input string was not in the correct format. This basically killed my Rnging dreams. Does anyone know why this is happening? Is it an RNG reporter problem or a PC problem (I have windows 7). Please help!!!

The only times I've seen error popups were when I accidentally left something important blank. Double-check that you entered everything correctly.

If you're sure it's right, then post a screenshot of the parameter finder and error message or else we won't be able to tell what might be causing it.

Is there a program that I can download to search for perfect shiny seeds for myself? For like all years, and months of those years at one time? Because Doing it on RNG reporter takes forever, and it only goes one month at a time.

The program that does that is Reporter. You have to be patient.

Alright hopefully these are my last two questions... For the day haha.

1. Do roamers advance the frame at all?
2. What is the difference between Gen5 PIDRNG, and Gen5 (Standard Seed)? Refering to the drop down box in the time finder for RNG.

Okay, so then why would I use PIDRNG then??

The PIDRNG handles nature\gender\shininess\encounter slots. Both PIDRNG and the IVRNG are necessary when going for your desired Pokemon.

When you do a Standard Seed (IVRNG) search and tick the "Search for Nearby Shinies" box, it is actually doing an IVRNG search in conjunction with a PIDRNG search.

I'm new to 5th Gen RNG, and I'm currently stuck on the Calibration phase. I'm using a DSi (as it's the only handheld I have currently). I'm having trouble syncing with my computer clock-When I press Save to set the time, the DSi time is off by a second or more. Any way I can fix this problem, like saving a second or 2 before the external clock becomes the next minute?
Thanks in advance.

Use EonTimer's Gen III tab. Change the seconds to which second you need to load up the game (A DSi load up the game by a second usually, so if you need to load the game at 20 seconds, load it at 19 seconds); also, change the frame to 0 because you do not need a second timer.

Sorry, but what do you mean by this? Doesn't checking the box mean it only comes up with seeds for pokemon that will be shiny? are you saying that the only way to control the nature/ability can only be controlled when you also aim for shininess?

Well, yeah.

are you saying that the only way to control the nature/ability can only be controlled when you also aim for shininess?

Not at all. You just don't NEED a special search if you're going for non-shininess. You can just take the seed, paste it into the main window, and find your desired nature\encounter slot\gender with no problem.

You could do the same thing for shiny spreads, but you'd have to test every single seed by hand to see if there was a nearby shiny. That's why RNG Reporter does it for you.

Ok, so when you paste the full seed in the main window, you can look for the correct nature/ability. Then you would have to advance to the required frame with steps AND advance the other type of frame (can't remember what it's called) with saves and chatot chatters?

There's no need to make things hard on yourself. Just search for IV spreads on frame 1 only, and you won't have to make any steps.

Also, taking steps does advances the PIDRNG every 18 steps or so, so you'd have to keep track of that too. Just don't walk around and you'll be fine.

Been using an alpha version of 9.94 (alpha 5) and noticed that entralink Pokemon is now select-able for Gen5 PIDRNG. Right now it still requires a full seed to use it properly but that be fixed in the finished version or will that still required people to do it manually?

BTW, minor thing but I do enjoy how the loading bar during searches actually look like it's loading. Hadn't compare alpha's fast searching speed with 9.93 yet.

It was there in 9.93, by the way.

You still need a full seed because turning on the C-Gear only changes the IV seed. The PIDRNG seed is unaffected.

Thanks for the help! And also for the little teaser too! =)

Ohhhhhh. So that's why I couldn't find the frame I hit :P

So. I'm assuming that Kaph's mini guide that he posted somewhere tells us how to find the full seed?

shouldn't you be able to select "Copy Full Seed" when your right clicking?

And I don't know why, but I think the Starting Frame that I'm getting when I click "Calculate Initial PIDRING Frame" for this Perfect Shiny Eevee I'm trying to breed is giving me a wrong Starting Frame, is there any actual way of telling when it's wrong?

The PID I'm trying it hit is the one I've highlighted.

No when getting a C-Gear seed you're only give the first half of the seed.

And the WNPCs are messing with you. They are advancing the frame so that is why it doesn't match up with what the Reporter says. You should be checking which PID Frame you hit and then adjust accordingly.
