Anyone interested in making Gameboy sprites of new pokemon?

OK, enough of this remake business, how about a DEmake of new pokemon? You know, like from the Red Blue era. I'm not really good at making sprites so how about it? Anyone want to try?

Limits:
64x64 sprite

i've actually never really gotten into devamping before, but I made these, I couldn't tell which one I liked better...

did I make them look gross enough? I feel like i should do more than just recolor the sprite/outline :/

EDIT: and the exploud is made of win btw

This type of thing wont work
Pokemon have to fit within the 64x64 size limit, and need to be shaded and shaped as such so it actually looks like it was around in the GB/C era.

ah, gotcha, i figured it wasn't enough. back to the drawing board for me! XD

Decided to complete the Whismur line.

It's an interesting exercise because it forces you to convey a lot of information with little space and just a few colors.

It's also fun to imagine what these Pokemon might have looked like to the pixel artists before the anime came and standardized the look and proportions of all the characters. Get scratching, everyone!

here's an other (scratched) milotic. I don't believe i've got the colors/shading/outline/stye quite right so maybe you more experienced folks could give me some pointers?

Hegna, you squished a Porygon-Z sprite and recoloured it. The colour limit for RBY is black, white, and two other similar colours. I think that has six, or even more.

By the way, some of these sprites are just plain awesome. Keep it up, Cartoons and Wyverii!
 
Yeah, I kind of know what I did.
I just hoped it would work.
As I said it is pretty bad.
I did get all the colours (save one, just realized, but from what you're saying adding one's too much anyway) off different parts of a porygon sprite on serebii though, I assumed it was the proper one, but the image could have lost some colour as I copied it and stuff.
Anyway, I removed it, since it really is pretty horrid (I thought so myself, but I was bored, and I'm not that great at art in general, just felt like trying something).
 
Cool, BynineB, the Surskit and Kingdra are especially convincing. And that's some courage tackling Giratina, I don't think I'd have had the guts.

Aviator, don't be afraid to use some solid blacks to denote shade or perspective. Work out Milotic's form so she has some greater solidity to her and feel free to push the dynamism in the pose. It's probably worth finding a base colour that best represents the Pokemon and work off of that. In Milotic's case that may be beige or pink?

Oh yeah, and make it wonky and kind of grotesque!
 
I really like this idea, as cartoons implied, the rby sprites convey much more emotion. They really show the pokemon as having more individual personalities.
 
Thanks for the input, I used what you said and reworked the sprite. I added black shadows in, changed the color from Gyardos to Persian (the closest to Milotic's main color I could find), fixed some of her curves that were bothering me (mainly on the hair-like things) and added in the scaly design on the second half of her tail.

Wyverii, your Altaria is very well done, as you already know. =P
