Why did Endeavor fail?
IWhyte's Donphan used Ice Shard!

How much HP was his Donphan at?
Roughly 55%. And why would his Ice Shard do so little? It doesn't make sense. Also, earlier my Frolass outsped his Venusaur in the Sun!
There are several variable here which are unknown to myself and th others in the thread. The most important one is the number of hit points Cottonee had at the time it used Endeavor. If its HP number was higher than Donphan's then Endeavor would fail to lower the opponents HP for obvious reasons. Also, Ice Shard may not have done that much damage if A.) The opponent did not invest in Attack EVs B.) Cottonee had max def and HP EVs in addition to Eviolite. I hope this helps.

In RBY, Hyper Beam did not need to recharge if the target was KOed. What would happen if Hyper Beam had this effect nowadays? Alias, what would happen if it's variations (Giga Impact, Blast Burn, Rock Wrecker, etc) had the same effect?
Pretty sure Cottonee can't have that much HP at level 1, so my guess is you forgot to change its level.
Supposing it isn't at level one, why doesn't it die if it has five defense and 11HP? Even if it was at level 100, cottonee would still take at least 75%
Level 100 Cottonee has 221 HP, and 120 is about 54% of that. An uninvested Ice Shard does 51-61% to 0/0 positive-natured Cottonee, which seems the most likely mistake.
You can't use anything above that tier.
If it's in the Uber list, you can't use it in anything below Uber. If it's in the OU list, you can't use it in anything below OU. And so on. You should probably read this article: http://www.smogon.com/bw/articles/bw_tiers

Cottonee only has base 66 Speed, so a Donphan with Speed investment could be faster than it. Edit: oh yeah, and it's priority.
Regardless, going by Ice Shard's damage alone, either you're mistaken or there's a significant bug in PO.
No it wouldn't. Even if Donphan was slower than Cottonee, Ice Shard has +1 Priority and Endeavor (since it is classified as a physical attack and thus is not affected by Prankster) has +0 Priority. Whether you were level one or level one hundred Donphan would always strike first.
getting on board with the question of origin, endeavor only works on hp as its number, not percentage, making pokemon like blissey in a horrible situation if someone managed to get endeavour on lets say a shedinja
with the ice shard and living, i have 3 reasons why it didnt kill
1) miscalculation on your part
2) hacks to your hp/defenses
3) you lied. its a lvl1 cottonee vs a lvl100 donphan i dont care what you say thats not survivable
