You can't change the the name of the Pokemon if you aren't the OT.

when using ev reducing berries and you have more than 100 evs in one stat, lets say 255, if you use one berry, does it reduce the EVs to 100 in that stat or does it reduce it by 10?

I believe it reduces it to 100, and then each one after that does the regular 10.

You breeding with Ditto? That might be the problem.
And soft reset when you get a Timid/whatever ability you want so you don't have to go through that again.
