No no no, don't get me wrong, you did a much better job answering the question than I did. I was just warning people not to treat that guide as the final word on team building (no guide ever could be).

As for the flinching question, be careful not to assume the Gambler's Fallacy. You can't go "Oh, it flinched Kingdra four times, it means it's not going to flinch Salamence next" because the odds of each individual flinch are entirely independent of each other. Before the fact you can judge how likely this situation is to occur, but once the first three flinches have happened the fourth one isn't any less likely than before.

Heracross is also an effective Uber Restalker, especially as a Dark Rai counter (the best in the game).

Rest activates Guts, giving a 50% attack boost for free.

I don't know if this is the right place but meh. What does HP Ice or Grass mean? I don't get what people mean when they talk about it.

What is the definition of "hax", and what is considered "hax'?

For example:

Say someone has a Scarfed Heatran out against a Standard CBScizor. This is both battler's last Pokemon.

The Heatran uses Fire Blast, and it misses. The Scizor uses SuperPower, and is KOs the Heatran. Is this hax?

Another example:

There is a paralyzed CBScizor out against a CBTar who has, for example, 10 hp left.

The Scizor uses Bullet Punch, for the obvious KO, but gets parayzed. The CBTar uses Stone Edge, and wins. Is this hax?

I know a crit is considered "hax" by most people. But what about moves like Stone Edge that have a higher crit chance?

Just looking for clarification here.

(does anyone think this could be a topic in the Stark Mountain forum? or has it been discussed already?)

Hax is something that happens that is usually based on a % to happen, usually with low % of happening (crits, paralyzes, misses from high hit % moves).

Hax is on various levels, so each of your things would be on a smaller level of hax. Massive amounts of flinch lock or paralyzing would be considered to be major hax. Often, warstories point out little/no hax in their good parts when there's like 1 crit or 1 paralyzing in there.

Oh, I thought it had to do with it's health.
it makes it possible for pokemon that can't learn a certain type of move to have that type of move.

for instance, if a Mismagius has HP Fight, it can hit Normal, Steel and Rock type pokemon for supereffective damamge, that it otherwise would not be able to do.

What is the easiest/fastest way to find Lati@s for the first time in Emerald?
As far as I know, there isn't one, you just have to be lucky enough to find him/her.

My question: I'm going to battle a guy who has pretty good pokes(from serebii, so they're probably hacks) but doesn't know anything from clauses. I'm planning to abuse this, but now my question to smogon is; how can I best do this? This is not a build my team question, just what would you do if there wouldn't be any clauses? I'm planning on using a Walrein in tandem with Abomasnow. His set would be Fissure/Sheer Cold/Rest/Sleep Talk. Probably a Breloom with spore, but I'm running out of inspiration. Ooh yeah, we can't use any "legendary pokemon" His defenition of this is all pokemon that you could only meet once in a game. He freaked out when I used an Azelf... Thanks

You need help to beat someone like that? Oh well.

Pass an agility to a Breloom with Spore/Substitute/Focus Punch/Stone Edge@Toxic Orb. It becomes really hard to beat.

What is the easiest/fastest way to find Lati@s for the first time in Emerald?

This is probably just luck/coincidence, but everytime I wanted to find Latias/os in Emerald, I would fly to Mossdeep and Surf down between two routes there. I used this method in several games and found Lati within 10 minutes each time.

@Cipher: You can try pairing Froslass with Abomasnow in a hail team, with Milotic acting as the much needed fire resist. I don't want to just suggest an entire team. You should try to think about it yourself too.

My question: Suppose sleep clause has already been activated on my opponent's side (but not on mine). The opponent tries to sleep one of my pokemon but my pokemon used Magic Coat. Assuming this is Shoddy (so sleep clause can be enforced), would MC just fail and my pokemon falls asleep, or would it "work" but opponent doesn't fall asleep, or opponent actually falls asleep anyway?
