I guess I got (un)lucky with ten armor fossils in a row. Thanks.

Actually, according to Serebii.net, the kind of D/P fossil you get depends of your ID. If the last digit is odd, you get one, and if it's even, you get the other. Seems you won't be getting your Skull Fossil anytime soon =(

I don't have platinum or diamond/pearl but if you wifi battle each other with platinum and diamond, what is hypnosis' accuracy? 70 or 60?

Toxic spikes VS spikes

Which one usually work for the best?

I was going for spikes as the one thing I find annoying about pokemon battles is... trainers changing pokemons all the time to the point it is hard to actually atack once. But then there is Toxic spikes which can end up dealing more dmg then spikes but kinda force the other player to switch.

Just a few questions about competitive play in Platinum

1. Do a lot of players who use Shoddy use exclusively Shoddy, and not Platinum (or Diamond or Pearl, obviously)? Or do a lot of players test teams on Shoddy and then breed and train in their pokemon game of choice? I have not extensively used Shoddy, but I have also never (to this point) gotten to a point where I didn't get halfway through breeding and EV training and then drafted and gotten hooked on another team. Now, the reason for this is that I often feel like the team I'm working on is underpowered (a kind of curse I have that doesn't allow me to ever finish, which is annoying.) But I also am constantly thinking about other pokemon/teams/strategies, so I just feel like the one I'm working on is boring.

2. Is sharking items/pokemon frowned upon if IVs and natures remain un-helped (I guess would be the proper term), if stats are unaltered also? I guess the main reason I'm asking isn't that I am too lazy to breed, I actually enjoy it usually, it's just that there are certain pokemon (Jirachi and Celebi jump to mind) that I have no real way of getting without cheating, and I would like to physically have them in Platinum. I think about as far as my "cheating" would go would be catching one in the wild with some cheat and just kind of running with whatever I ended up with, or maybe catching one over and over til I got one with favorable IVs and a Nature. (I feel like cheating undermines the game anyway, but I feel like I'm going too far if I shark IVs and natures.)

My friend and I were discussing, and on one hand we compared it to having the Shoddy experience, but actually having the pokemon in your DS cartridge, but on the other hand we kind of feel crappy even considering cheating because the way we both generally feel about it is cheats are fun, but only after you've beaten the game. And in a game like pokemon where there really isn't an end unless people stop playing (which is possible, but not at all probable at this point, obviously), it kind of goes against what we believe as far as cheating in videogames goes.

Anyone care enough to shed some light on either of these questions? Any help/insight/opinions would be greatly appreciated on either/or.

I need some help

I guys,

I want to go to the Video Games Championship 2009 but I live in Montreal, Canada. I would like to know if one of you knows how I could go to the Philadelphia's event on June 6th without paying too much with my friend.

Thank you

It should be 60.

I thought it depended on who was hosting the game.

It depends on the team. If you have a stall team, then Toxic Spikes is the better option. If you run an offensive team, then Spikes would be better (even though Stealth Rock is significantly better on an offensive team).

I've heard various rumors or mentions of something being screwed up with Platinum's RNG, and making shiney breeding easier.. can anyone tell me what this about?

There is a topic in the wifi forum about that which goes into more depth than you can probably handle.

Some people will call you lazy, but for the most part people will still battle you as long as the Pokemon have legal stats. On Smogon you simply have to mention that you are using "legal hacks" if you are requesting a battle. The term legal hacks refers to Pokemon created through a cheating device, but with perfectly legal stats/movepools.

It can go both ways. I, personally, only use Shoddy for battles because IV breeding and EV training within the game is obscenely tedious. Also because my DS is broken and being a broke college student I can't afford a new one so the diamond I actually play on occasion is nothing but an emulator (I have the bloody game so it's legal).

question:

Any suggestions for what to fit on my team? I currently have a NP Sweeper Togekiss as the start, and some I like from OU are: Dragonite (But seems to be no reason to play this over Salamance), Gengar, Jolteon, Starmie, Azelf, Blissey, Cressellia, Flygon, Skarmory. And some I like from UU or above: Gallade, Gardevoir, Milotic.

So, any tips on which of those would add onto my team? I know I'm going to have to use some I don't like so much, but oh well. =P

So...

I'm training for the Pokemon VGCs for the DS played on Platinum (wrong thread eh :/). The format will be double battles with 4 pokes, Item and Pokemon clauses, level cap at 50, and no Ubers really. I heard on the VGC thread that PBR had some kind of option that pretty much matched these settings.

My questions are...

1) Is this there an option to randomly play people with about these settings? The Item and Pokemon Clauses don't really matter to me, but the level cap would be nice, I don't really mind taking on ubers, or more than 4 pokes because my team is pretty good. I'm just looking for random double battles because that's pretty much what the VGCs will consist of. The rules would just be nice.

2) If there is such an option, is it available from the start so I can just rent this game and get straight to practicing? I don't really have 50$ free right now (dang car tires!!!), but a 9$ rent for a weekend isn't a problem.

3) How many pokes can you "dowload" or whatever onto PBR? My team uses 1 white herb and 1 chesto berry, and while I don't forsee using them every battle, I will go through them so I assume I'll need to transfer LOOOOOOOOTS of pokes holding these items (I have MAAAAANY) over to PBR and move them around so I can practice battling lots. (I've never wi-fi battled!)

Thank you soooooooooooooo much for your advice!!! ^.6

My question:

Where may I find Shoddy statistics? I'm talking about most used leads, which moves are most commonly used on which pokemon, etc.

Here you go, I believe that this may be of some assistance now and in the future. It's the most recent one as well.

My question: Obviously there has been a lot of talk about the G/S remakes. I was wondering, in the remakes will we have the ability to soft reset (save in front of, reset for good nature and IVs) for the legendary dogs? I am interested in a good Riakou, but tracking it all over the region is a pain in the Grass-type. Does anyone know?

Nobody knows, the games were just announced, and there are almost no details yet.

That said, if it's anything like G/S/C, the IVs will be determined when you meet them the first time (like everything else) and you'll just be SOL if they're bad...<_<

More than likely. It's not confirmed, but there should be no reason to remove it.
