Damp rock does that...?
I suspect Porky meant that Rain Dance eliminates the Fire weakness.
If 2 pokemon (for example Hippo and Aboma) have weather inducing effects, is there any way to tell which will be the weather that remains if they are both leads?
The faster Pokémon's weather will be activated first, then the slower one, which means that the slower one will be the one that takes effect. This is why people sometimes EV Abomasnow leads to be slower than TTar.

Whats a good lead for a rain dance team?(OU)
Could you also please list the moves and EVs please?

Edit~ And I would also prefer if it had stealth rock

Azelf is quite a good choice if you want a fast suicide lead?
Access to both Explosion and Steath rock make it pretty good.

Uxie is also suitable if you want a bit more bulk, but with memento replacing Explosion.

Here's something I wouldn't be surprised regardless of the answer to:

Would you recommend one of the Hyper Beams on a Pokemon I would use in the Battle Hall? It packs that big power, and the recharge turn shouldn't matter because they only have one Pokemon, and I would only use it on stuff that:
1. I wouldn't be able to OHKO with any of my other moves, and
2. (i'm most certain) i'll OHKO with it.
The only thing I really have to worry about with Hyper Beam in the Battle Hall is if, god forbid, it doesn't OHKO the foe. And if I knew it wouldn't OHKO, i'd just use another move and do more damage within the two turns. Or maybe i'm missing something here.

In short: Is Hyper Beam usable in the Battle Hall where the foe only has one Pokemon?

Yeah it's usable in Battle Hall for sure, especially for Togekiss / Porygon-Z. For pokemon that do not get STAB from it though... there may be better options.

I'd say PorygonZ is the only viable user of it due to its massive SpA and beneficial ability.

Why is Cresselia not uber? I have been wondering this for awhile now. It is basically a modified deoxys without the sp. atk or speed stat of it. I suggest that if Cresselia is OU than Giratina of both forms be moved to the same tier. It would just make more sense to me.

Noobish question: does U-Turn have prioity? Will it move first before getting hit by a faster pokemon?

No, it doesn't. U-turn has a 0 priority which is the standard.

Correct, she lacks the sp.atk and the speed to be considered uber under the offensive characteristic, the moveset and the the speed to be considered uber under the support characteristic, and, despite having high defences, the psychic type make her vulnerable to common threats like Scizor and TTar (which she can barely scratch). Nonetheless, her only "recovery" move, out of rest, is the unreliable (low pp and only 25% healing under sandstorm) moonlight. That's why she's OU and will problably stay in that tier.

It doesn't wall a significant part of the metagame, it is easier to counter.
when you use metronome with a choice item, do you get locked into metronome or the move it does?
You get locked into metronome.

It doesn't have to be on a fast pokemon. Basically, if your opponent switches, you get to see what they switch to before making your decision of what to switch in. Creating favorable match-ups like this is how u-turn 'scouts'.

Do you need to have the National Pokedex in order to receive non-Sinnoh Pokemon in a trade on Platinum? (As in, can I trade with a friend via Wi-Fi to get a Charmander without the National Dex, or will it deny me the trade?)

Need advice on the following moveset for Gyarados:

-Gyarados @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
Nature:
EV's:
-Waterfall
-Roar
-Rest
-Sleep Talk

So, I need help with the EV's and nature. I don't want it to be offensive, just for taking fighting hits. Currently I have Bold- 252 HP/80 Atk/68 Def/24 Spe/86 SDef.

Hey guys.

I have been playing pokemon since the RBY days, and I have always had an appreciation for the strategy of these games. I've been wandering around these forums for a while, learning the basic strategies for competitive battling, and I have decided to finally try it out for myself.

So my question is, should I attepmt to fabricate my own team, or should I just find an OU "standard" team? I'm still a bit confused on team building, with EVs and items and stuff, and what pokemon to choose over other pokemon. Or should I just continue to read through articles until I have enough understanding to make my own team? I just figure once I get experience battling in some unrated games, I'll gain more understanding with competitive battling.

Also, I'm curious at to how well ShoddyBattle works with dail up internet? I usually run at around 20.0KB/S, which is rediculously slow for most things =P

Thanks alot guys.

The best way to earn experience is by battling, in my opinion. Build a team and get on Shoddy. If you need some ideas, then take a look at the RMT section about the team building, and at the analysis about the pokemons' movesets.

I'm not sure about the connection issue, but I believe that you can play on Shoddy even with your dial-up.
