I'm aware that to work out a SID a requirement (without resorting to cheat devices) is to catch a shiny Pokemon in game that wasn't obtained through chaining or breeding. However, does anyone know if the Red Gyarados in HG/SS works for getting your SID? I'm curious, as it could go either way (looking at this from the point of view of someone who's only just getting to grips with the RNG), and if it does work for getting your SID then it'd speed up the process significantly.

Seeing as you can use several chained pokemon to figure out your SID, I guess that you can catch the Red Gyarados multiple times (without saving), and take a note of its stats+nature/IVs each time you do so. I can't guarantee it'll work, but it's worth a try.

Does "Me First" work against Ghosts? And if you use a Mewtwo with Me First and the foe uses Flamethrower, your attack will be of fire type, normal or psychic?

For a doubles team, I'm planning on leading Kyogre to set up rain. Should I use a Kingdra alongside it with Swift Swim or a Swampert? I'm afraid that if RD is taken out, Kingdra is useless, but with it, it seems better to use that than a Swampert.

If two attacks/ switches/ w.e have different speed priority, will the higher priority ALWAYS go first? Or are there exceptions? I know Trick Room reverses the order, but that's only in the same speed bracket.

Move priority is explained here.

Go with Kingdra alongside with Kyogre. The only reason you probably want Swampert alongside Kyogre is for Stealth Rock support. Other than that, go with Kingdra.

If both Pokémon are at the top of their speed bracket, i.e activated Quick Claw and activated Custap (last turn) who goes first? Highest speed? Also, if bracket positions and speed are the same, how do you decide who goes first, is it just a coin flip?

Yes to all of your questions.

Double Battle questions:

1. If one of your foes (Foe A) uses Reflect or Light Screen, and then you use Brick Break on the opponent's other poke (Foe B), does it a) Break the screen completely b) Not break it because you didn't target the original user of the move or c) Only break it for the target you hit with Brick Break? I'm fairly sure it would be a)...

2. If you use Helping Hand + a move that hits both foes (eg. Eruption, Water Spout), is the damage output equivalent to using the move in a single battle? Because I know all spread-damage moves get reduced when targeting 2 enemies....

when you face byron in the survival area, all of his pokes give def evs right?

Aggron gives 3 Def. EVs, his Magnezone gives 3 Sp.Atk. EVs, and his Bastiodon, Steelix, and Skarmory each give two.

@ DrDimentio: Brick break will break the screens regardless of who you target. Multihit moves have their power decreased to 75%; Helping Hand will boost a partner's move by 50%. The power will be roughly 112% with Helping Hand in play.

I've looked arround for this just to make sure, but couldn't find it. Does the evolving a poke without trading trick found on the 4th Gen. Tips and Tricks article work for Platinum as well as DP? (e.g. using it to evolve Kadabra to an Alakazam) I assume yes but I got a little confused since there's a section in the article that says Platinum specific which it's not under.
