Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

@ Leon1337Assasin: I'm getting 4*(1+4) + 22*(2+4) = 16 + 132 = 148, assuming you were using the correct power item. Assuming you then used ten Proteins, you should only have 248, and thus four more EVs to go. As for checking this, we can not tell based on Attack stat and Level because we do not know the Attack IV.

In that case, we must be looking at it the wrong way. Was the Ninjask holding anything like a lagging tail, or did it try to use a negative priority move?

The Ninjask I had used earlier was incorrectly EV'd/Natured, but it was holding Leftovers and was using Substitute (Baton Pass team). The Ninjask's speed was most likely around 400, I can't tell because I released it before we battled the second time (we started the first battle with the bad Ninjask, after it was outsped and killed shortly thereafter, I d/c'd and got a different one). The incident in question was during our second battle.

I am not sure if this is a simple question but I wish I had a simple answer.

Both Shoddy Battle and Pokelab are doing this to me
2eygrhh.jpg

I have searched the forums the only thing that seems close to my problem is this
http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80531
However their problem was caused due to their internet on campus.
My internet is perfectly fine, I have unblocked java on the fire wall and the latest update. Port 8446 is not blocked, and the other server in pokelab which you can see in the screen shot allows me to connect. I don't know why its doing this so I figured its about time I post.

Can anyone offer me advice or instructions on how I can connect with pokelab or shoddy? Thank you very much.

I think that without logs we may have to give up. We can't tell without knowing exactly what happened.

EDIT: @ neko-chan: Both Shoddy and Lab are no longer supported, so there is no server to connect to, which results in the connection timing out because it can not find anything to connect to.

So, you guys probably heard of the Transform-Mimic glitch? If so, where are the move tutors for this and can Copycat be an alternate to mimic?

The Move tutor for Mimic in Emerald is in Lavaridge City. Look here. Assuming that is what you are looking for. And yes, I believe Copycat works.

how do stats work in the battle tower?
are the stats set back to what they were at level 50?
if so, what about pokemon such as Dragonite or Tyranitar?
and what about EVs? if you fill your Evs after level 50 do they get added on?

The stats are set to whatever the Pokemon's stats would be if they had the same EVs, IVs and Nature but where at level 50. Check here.

How come Smogon's recommended nature for Wobbuffet changed from Careful/Impish in 3rd gen to Calm/Bold in 4th gen? In both generations, aren't Careful and Calm equally acceptable for +Sp. Def, and Impish and Bold equally acceptable for +Def? I can't see why they wouldn't be, unless the writers of the analyses wanted to go very deep and say they wanted a -Atk nature to slightly reduce self-damage in Confusion, or a nature that is neutral on Attack to slightly increase Struggle damage to the opponent...

To be honest, it is probably just whichever two natures occurred to the author first. They almost definitely had different authors. And Calm/Bold are probably better options just for confusion damage, which is why they are probably there now.

Gotcha. I did some damage calculations, and discovered that I do minimum confusion damage to myself if I have an Attack IV in the range of 0-5 (assuming a -Atk nature). Is the best choice to have the IV at 5, since (depending on the opponent) I can do more Struggle damage to my opponent than if my IV was 0, or is this totally unnecessary (consider that if either side has an Attack/Defense raise/drop, the calculations change)? The egg spread I picked out has an Attack IV of 0, and I'm wondering if I should pick a new one with an Attack IV of 5.

Consider two things:
1) If your Wobbuffet is using Struggle, it is completely useless. Consider that it only barely kills a standard level 25 Caterpie at level 100. I do not think, based on my experiences in Ubers, that level 24 Caterpies are common enough switch-ins to plan for when deciding on Wobbuffet's IVs. Obviously, should they see an upsurge in usage, it may be worth considering.

2) If your Wobbuffet is attacking itself, it is useless. Wobbuffet is used to come into something, and destroy it based on the first move it makes. Giving any Uber one extra turn will allow them to beat it anyway.

It really does not matter what your Attack IV is, or really your nature. Just use whatever you have which works elsewhere.

Haha yeah, I figured I was thinking too much into it. Thanks for clearing it all up.

I have a quick question in regards to my team i was posting earlier in this thread.

Draco Meteor. Strong move but it reduces the special attack stat by 2 stages. That kind of scares me but I was wondering something. If I use the move then switch my poke out and bring it out later in the fight, will its Special attack stat be returned to normal or would it still be at minus 2? I've never really played competitvely before just in game so I generally never had moves that reduced my own stats.

The Special Attack stat will go back to normal.
