Ask a simple question, get a simple answer - mark 24 (READ THE OP)

I might sound like a bit of a newb saying this, but how do I use the stats on the main smogon site? I mean, are those the recommended stats the pokemon should have at lv. 100? lv. 50? I'm kind of confused. If it is for lvl 100 how should I know what to do when I hatch the pokemon at lv.1? Thanks in advance.

They're all level 100 stats. Read this, if you don't feel like reading it all, read the "Stat Mechanics" section

How do Power Swap and Guard Swap work? Do they just switch stat boosts or do they switch the actual stats themselves?

And if it was just the boosts, wouldn't Psych Up always be better?

Just the Boosts. Its better than Psych Up in certain situations as it removes the opponents Boosts.

EDIT: @kd24 I think your thinking of Power Trick. :)

Two quick questions...

1. Does a Mild, max Special Attack Houndoom with a Choice Scarf stand a chance at OHKO'ing 0 Special Defense Heatran (non-Shuca variants) with Hidden Power Ground?

2. I'm having a really hard time justifying Charizard's usage in both OU and UU, for he is, in my opinion, totally outclassed by Infernape in OU, and pretty much outclassed by Moltres in UU. I'm thinking maybe a Mild MixZard with Brick Break, but honestly, that doesn't seem to really be worth splitting EVs over when I could just use Moltres...

Charizard has a few niches, one of the biggest being BellyZard (sub, belly drum, fire punch earthquake/other)

It carries salac for a speed boost and blaze boost fire punch's power. Belly drum maxes out its attack and sub give it a turn to survive.

Moltres cant do that.

HP Ground from a 252 SpA Mild Houndoom does 97.8% - 115.2% against 0 HP / 4 SpD Naive Heatran.
That's a OHKO after Stealth Rocks

Well, a set I've seen been used in pre-HGSS metagame, is BellyZard with three attacks, that actually uses Stealth Rock for it advantage (relying on it + BD to reach for Blaze and Salac Range), but then again there's still Sandstorm going everywhere. Not sure about BellyZard in UU, since I don't play that metagame (much).

Question about the Safari Zone in HGSS:

On Serebii, it says when you leave sections untouched in the safari Zone for certain periods of time, the objects inside them count for even more for changing the wild Pokemon (ex, in the meadow area, riolu requires 10 forest objects and 14 peak objects to appear, but if the meadow area has been on the map for 10-50 days, you only need 5 forest objects and 7 peak objects for it to appear).

My question is, can you time warp (change the DS' clock around) to make these changes immediate? I plan on going on a 100% catch rate catching spree if it does.

No. If you change the DS clock, the day counter resets completely.

Im new to the site so please dont be to harsh but I really want to get into competitive pokemon battling.. So could someone please help me get my Secret ID so I could RNG some strong pokemon. Thanks

I remember seeing a team on this site, probably in a RMT or a Warstory, that I believe focused on using special attackers with sets that help prevent them from getting walled by Blissey and such. I believe there was a SubSplit Gengar and a Fake Tears Jolteon. Would anybody by some bizarre chance have the link to this team?

I feel kind of nooby for asking this, but I can't seem to copy and paste a weaknesses/resistances chart when I'm posting an RMT. It ends up all weird looking. How do I resolve this?

Im thinking of making a team that leads with an Anti-lead starmie and has a Agility lucario on its team.

Can any come up with a battle partner or 2 for them for ou?

Save the chart onto your computer, upload it onto a free image hosting site like imageshack, then when you post your RMT click the 'Insert Image' button and paste in the link for the image.

Are we allowed to post warstories from Shoddy Battle on here?

Sorry if the question sounds dumb; I'm new to Smogon.

Warstories are allowed. But you should have a look at the warstories in the Warstories Archives to get an idea of the standard of warstories that we expect. Good formatting, good commentary and an exciting battle full of prediction makes for a good warstory. Logs of a 6-0 sweep that get posted get deleted very quickly.

A Lucario sweep appreciates entry hazards so something like Skarmory, Forretress or Swampert will be a nice fit. Zapdos can prove to be a pain to both Lucario and Starmie so Tyranitar will make a good partner to these two.

Pretty new to this site. When I check a Pokemon's page and it has the recommended moveset/items it also has the EVs is that how many EVs I should add, or how many it should have after training?
