How good would Tentacruel be as a lead?
It can lay Toxic Spikes and it can spin hazards away. It scares off Heatran and Infernape leads. It can Surf then Rapid Spin to beat Aerodactyl, it can run HP Grass for Swampert. It will have problems taking EQ from Metagross, but it can hit it hard with Surf and spin rocks away. It isn't outclassed by Roserade since it lays TSPikes and Spins for your team.

it gets KO'd by most leads carrying a ground attack, and can be taunted by everything. If you want a t-spikes lead, use roserade, or set them up later. Starmie spins better as an anti lead, too. Really, why cant you use tentacruel in a later spot in your party?

Tentacruel vs Top Ten Leads

Azelf - Can Psychic you for the 2HKO and get rocks up anyway, also Taunts you to stop T-Spikes
Machamp - Beats you down with Dynamicpunch hax and Payback anyway
Aerodactyl - Earthquake is a 2HKO
Metagross - Kills you with Earthquake + Bullet Punch, Surf does like 30% max
Swampert - You beat it if you run HP Grass I guess
Jirachi - Tricks Scarf onto you and cripples you
Infernape - You can scare it off
Roserade - Sleeps you
Heatran - You can scare it off
Ninjask - Sets up in your face

Seems really iffy, I wouldn't use it. I would say Roserade's still better just because of Sleep Powder.

I don't know how many Aerodactyl would EQ right of the bat though so if you start to Surf right away I guess it can win. And when I ran calcs I realized Metagross shits all over this. Are most Azelf still running Fire Blast over Psychic, or is Psychic being used for all the Machamps?
And Ninjask is still top 10...really?

I'm going to ask this again, when can I start making a team from scratch (EV training / breeding)? I just beat E4, is it a good time now or is there things I need to explore / find?

I'm planning to get a drifblim to baton pass stockpile and salac berry effect to my team. Would like to know what can it outspeed if I am using the ev spread in baton pass V1 (176 speed EP) before unburden/salac activates.

Yeah, once you have access to the Battle Frontier (after the E4) is a great time to begin making a competitive team. You can gather the Power Items now.

If you're playing HG/SS you might want to explore Kanto first, otherwise this is a pretty good time to start making a team from scratch.

On Shoddy I think my ranking (or rank, I forget the word...) is 1515. Is that decent? Average?

To get your ranking look at your CRE (Conservative Rating Estimate).
If your CRE is in fact 1515 then you're doing very well, much much above average. This CRE would get you onto the OU leaderboard.

Oh, well, my CRE is 1371 I think, how's that?

Edit: Also, for one of the options, I got 1479-1551 and that averaged to 1515, so is that ranking or something different?

Oh, well, that ranking is for my UU team, but thanks for showing me the leaderboard. At least NOW I can check the rankings.

That's still a great ranking for UU; you can check the UU leaderboard too at http://www.smogon.com/shoddybattle/leaderboard/uu.

can someone explain to me the simplest way to set up DS wifi

Go to the title screen of your pokemon game, select "Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection", and press a button that looks like "New" or says something about creating a new connection. WPA secured hotspots do not work with the DS. This page: http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/wfc/en_na/ds/index.jsp may help. You can also buy a USB cable that allows your DS to use your computer for Internet.

EDIT: Thanks for describing it more fully, NikLink. I recently lost my DS carts and thought that The_Rebel_Squadron was asking because they had trouble connecting when following the directions in the game manual.

You go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings, then choose either Connection 1, 2, or 3 (that's for being able to connect with more than 1 network), then choose Search for an Access Point, then choose the wireless Internet connection you want to use, put the WEP code if it's a secure network, then wait until it runs the connection test, and you're set.

If you don't know your WEP code then you're gonna need another set of instructions from me, otherwise you should be good.

Edit: Ninja'd!

Dang, I was pretty close on making it. My rating peaked at the 1460s but now it's about 1440. =/ Well I'm at least on the Uber leaderboard

Is there any way to run into people with high CRE easier?

If you have a high CRE, then you will be matched up with others of high CRE when clicking "Find Match". Alternatively, you could participate in tournaments or just challenge high-CRE accounts to battle players with high CRE.

Note: Challenging high CRE players or battling in tournaments won't actually increase your CRE, you'll just get to battle some good players. You still have to battle on the ladder to move up it.

Can anyone identify why my Firefox does this:

smogonprofileproblem.gif

It also does it when:
• When I try to open Visitor messages from the CP
• When I try to PM them from their username
• When I search for their name in the database

It's quite annoying.

I might sound like a bit of a newb saying this, but how do I use the stats on the main smogon site? I mean, are those the recommended stats the pokemon should have at lv. 100? lv. 50? I'm kind of confused. If it is for lvl 100 how should I know what to do when I hatch the pokemon at lv.1? Thanks in advance.
