If you have a substitute up and you use counter will it deal twice the hp of the substitute or twice the damage that would have actually been dealt if there had been no sub?

Competitor is the new battle simulator being developed by the Admins of this site. It will be completely superior to Wi-Fi battling, so no one will need to use that forum anymore.

Thanks. So it's similar to Shoddy like a battle simulator, where we can use any kind of Pokemon? So pretty much Wi-Fi battles will kinda be "old-fashioned," and trading won't matter as much as it does now?

if I can only fit one spikes move on my forretress, which should it be and why?

[SET]
name: Your Basic Set
move1: Spikes/Toxic Spikes
move2: Gyro Ball
move3: Rapid Spin
move4: Explosion
item: Leftovers / Shed Shell
nature: Relaxed
evs: 252HP / 162 ATK / 96 DEF

I would use regular spikes, because toxic spikes in just an invitation for Heracross to come in and rape your team in a lot cases. Also, toxic spikes prevents you from inflicting other status effects, including the ever useful paralysis and sleep.

I don't really like Toxic Spikes.

Since I don't know the rest of your team. I'll say spikes, because it's generic and forre sets it up well. There are cases where toxic spikes would be better though.

New question: What standard, effective movesets are there a lack of on the wifi boards for Gyarados? (I figure that the bulkydos sets make up the majority, but it has so many potential movesets, I need to figure out which is least seen yet usable)

well what i meant to say was on what pokemon does grass knot hit harder than energy ball?
(just a couple of pokemon will do)

Vaporeon's the only bulky water light enough to be happier. (Lanturn too if you care for that :) ) Milotic Suicune and Swampert are hit very very hard by knot, as are tyranitar rhyperior and a lot more

Can Togekiss learn tri attack? On the D/P Anaylses, the Choice Specs set did show Tri attack, but on serebii, togepi/togetic/togekiss can't learn it. Unless serebii is wrong, so...

I'm actually trying to make a BP team in D/P.
Am I just a dreamer, or is there hope?

Beyond Skarmory, I don't think many people run (p)hazers. But at the same time, choice scarfs and an increase in the number of priority attacks make things interesting. I'd say it's possible though.

Thanks, I'm not giving up yet then.

I imagine it would differ between Pokemon, but I checked on Pidgey and it required 76 EVs. As for IVs...um, you can't gain IVs so you'll have to rephrase.

Okay, thanks. For IVs, I mean how many IVs give you 1 extra point in a stat at level 5? Or would that differ between different pokes too?

I guess maybe DD/Sub/SE/Waterfall

@Imlostinthought

name: RestTalker
move 1: Waterfall
move 2: Stone Edge
move 3: Rest
move 4: Sleep Talk
item: Leftovers
nature: Adamant
evs: 212hp/56atk/136def/104spd

That's the rarest set...only problem is all Gyarados sets require the same nature and IV's to pull off, so it's difficult to breed for a unique one.

Lol everyone has told me that this idea is just plain old stupid, but some day I'd like to try a:

Gyrados @ Choice Specs
252 Sp. Atk, 252 Speed, 6 HP

Modest (if you pick one of the physical attacks for last move slot, change the nature to a not minus Attack nature)

- Thunder / ThunderBolt
- Blizzard / Ice Beam
- Fire Blast / Flamethrower
- EarthQuake / Surf / Giga Impact / Stone Edge / Hydro Pump / Waterfall

If you pick EarthQuake, Giga Impact, Stone Edge, or Waterfall, sacrifice some Sp. Atk EV's and put them in Atk.

Crazy, huh? People always tell me it will get screwed up fast
..but its a crazy, never before seen idea. Lol =D

Is this a good set for regice?

Sassy
??? EVs
Curse
Ice Punch
Hammer Arm
Explosion/Rest/Counter

Meant to be used in Trick Room. Curse up once and use Ice Punch and Hammer Arm to deal damage. Hammer Arm has the bonus of increasing your speed (in TR, remember?) XPlosion is there to finish foes off, but if you'd rather stay alive, there's rest. And counter to bounce back those Stone Edges (barring CHs).

And I need a suggestion for EVs.

Okay, this may seem like an odd question, but...what exactly qualifies a "standard" team? OU/BL? Uses standard sets? Do "gimmick" teams such as mono-type teams count? I mean, I'm just asking, because I don't think I've ever made one (all my teams are doubles teams or in some way a gimmick).

On Pokemon XD, it says I get Battle CD 14 from the Wobbufet on Agate Village and Battle CD 15 from the Castform on Phenac, but how do I get it?

I've already tried talking with them a thousand times, but they gave me nothing. What should I do?

Question. I want to add a picture from photobucket into my signature. I tried the HTML and

I want to makesure I;m doing this right. So... lets say a Pokemon has 252 EVs and you reduce it with the berries. It goes back to 100 EVs, right? Quick answer please.
