I have a question about the mechanics of Torment.

If, for example, an opposing Jellicent uses Scald, while I use substitute with my (faster) Heatran, will I be able to 'lock' Scald with Torment next turn (probvided that the opponent actually uses Scald again)? Or can the opponent freely use Scald that second turn, but is prohibited in the third turn?

In other words, does Torment only 'count' while in effect, or can it used to lock moves used before Torment went in effect, like a pseudo-Disable?

Thanks in advance!

Only while it's in effect.

I have a question: can yawn hit throungh a sub?
Ex: Let's say my opponent's Gliscor uses Substitute against my Hippowdon, and Hippowdon uses Yawn. Would Gliscor be affected by Yawn?

Yawn can not hit through a substitute(according to Smogon's page on it and Bulbapedia), but if you use Yawn and than Substitute is used, the Pokemon will fall asleep.

Go to tiers, select Challenge Cup and than press the Find Battle Button. If you mean against someone in particular(like for tournaments), check off the Challenge Cup box when you challenge them. Hopefully this helps!

I did that and it says "your team is not valid, cannot find battle". My team is made up of Missingno.'s (aka no pokemon), mabye that has somthing to do with it?

Edit: Thanks for clearing that up

Is the Unity Tower unlocked by trading with a different-regioned game, or just a game whose Geonet location is registered to a different country? Also, is unlocked via a GTS trade, a friend code Wi-Fi trade, or either?

Hey i've got a question about the dream world... if you start a new game (on the ds, not something on the DW), but you still use the same game-card thingy, does it delete everything you did in the dream world, or do you continue with the same points, same furniture etc?

Your DW account isn't deleted, but you can't access it anymore.

so i'm kinda blocked, you say? so if i start a new White game on my gamecard, i can't use my DW anymore? that kinda sucks

You can Still access DW if you make a Save file on your Pokemon White, you would just need to create a new Global Link account.

I know we're not supposed to discuss "illegal" things here (ROMs, Action Replay, etc.), but I don't know where else to ask this: When cloning pokemon for trade threads and having an IV checker handy, what is the best type of Action Replay to use? I've looked at a few versions (regular, max, one exclusively for pokemon games), and read reviews on Gamestop's site and other sites. There are a lot of mixed reviews, but they're very vague. I assume the bad reviews are from people who hacked their games to the max and broke everything. I only need one for Pokemon White so I can clone my best RNGed mons for trade and so that I can check the IVs of level 1's I hatch from eggs, nothing else.

EDIT: Okay now I'm reading more reviews - whether they're good or bad, most people say that it freezes games if you move around too much, it has a tendencty to ruin some games, etc. Then there are some that say nothing's wrong. Sooo...how risky are these devices, if at all? I mean, I haven't used AR since Ruby version back in the day, so I'm not sure what the newer ARs are really like.

Thinking of an Abomasnow like this:

Dark Snow
Timid
252 hp / 252 spe
Leech seed
Toxic
Blizzard
Protect

Would this set work as a weather setup and status spreader while weathering down pokes with residual dmg.

Yes.... but you would only have time against things that don't have SE Moves. Speed EV's should go to bulk if you want a Wall.

I Just got a standard one, the IV Check only freezes if you view the Summary page of the pokemon without holding L, that applies to opening and closing it, otherwise you should be good.

How does sleep work in gen5? I hear that the counter resets every time the 'mon switches in. Has anyone figured out the percentage likelihood of waking up each turn after being slept? What is the min or max # of sleep turns?

Also, is there a specific definition of banlist in the clear skies meta? Is it just "current smogon OU minus weather inducers and excadrill and thundurus"? Did someone just pull it out of their ass?

When a Pokemon is being put to sleep, it may sleep for two turns, up to four.
I couldn't find out how the probability of a long or a short sleep is ditributed, but you may want to have that additional info:
"Turn" is not the exact term if you want to define sleep; the counter rises each time you make a move. For example, when a Pokemon switch in a sleep inducing move, he won't wake up the next turn because the counter remains on 0. If it is put to sleep by a faster sleep inducer while you stay in (making a move), it might be possible that it wakes up next turn because the counter will be set to 1, although only half of a turn has passed.

Clear Skies should only have the standart uber banlist with the legendaries. There are quite a lot of Garchomps running around.

Ok, before I joined Smogon, I read that the HP of each Pokemon should be made to an odd number, even if the HP isn't maxed out. I read recently that HP should be maxed out on walls.

My question is: is maxing out HP more important because if increased bulk, or is it more important to get a "Stealth Rock" number that allows more switches?

Its really only important on Rocks-weak pokes. Blissey, for example, should always run max HP, same with Ferrothorn and others.

EDIT: unless you want your wall to be switching in/out 10 times without Leftovers recovery XD

:( Sad Face ):

-I do not feel like playing on PO. Anyway thanks for the info I was worried that maybe we got kicked off of PO for w/e reason
