Sigh, I don't know why but I'm not having any success with Drizzle whatsoever. I tried many different set-ups and I just can't make it work. On the other hand, I used a balanced-stallish team that utilized Hippo for a while. I didn't know what to put in the last slot, so I just slapped Excadrill because I felt like it, and my win ratio jumped dramatically.

Similarly, I have no problems beating said rain teams, while playing against a good SS team is always a challenge.

Now, I've been following the suspect thread religiously, and many people moan how rain is the most OP weather. So my question is - what people use that makes rain so good? For the record, my original rain team was:

Specs Politoad
LO Tornadus (with Tailwind)
Sniper Specs Kingdra
Offensive Rotom-W (with Rain Dance, "just in case")
Standard Subpunching Breloom
Sp.Def Jirachi (with Stealth Rock over Fire Punch and Thunder over Thunder Wave)

I lol'd

The best two sets for Kingdra are Swift Swim Special-Attacker, or any-ability Dragon Dancer. I think you should go with the DD'er there instead of the slow Special-Attacker

If you actually looked at that team, you would realize that it's legal. Scarf Sniper Kingdra is becoming increasingly popular, and using Specs is also an option but it honestly isn't quite as good in all likelihood

But if you don't know why Swift Swim and Drizzle is banned, it's probably because you never used it, because it's clearly broken, like DPP Garchomp

Do not insult me; I am fully aware of the ban, which is why I suggested the DD'er as it's good with either ability. Special Attacking Kingdra, unless it's Scarfed, sucks in my opinion.

I know this was addressed earlier in the thread, but I figured it would help more if I noted exactly what I plan to use on her. I like trying to use underused and overlooked Pokemon, and I want to try and go for a Gothitelle. However, the only analysis thread here is very old and assumes that it would have Shadow Tag.

Now, that isn't coming for a long while, and I think I can make due with Frisk.

I want to probably run Calm Mind on her, but I'm torn on whether I should go with a Modest or a Bold nature on her. Does anyone have any input? Perhaps an example EV spread or two to boot?

Well, the Gothitelle I use is Defensive (But I could make it a CM one easily, just teach it TM's and keep the same EV's but they might not be completely effective), with this set:

Gothitelle @ Leftovers
Bold
252Def/252HP/4SpDef
Tickle
Thunder Wave
Mirror Coat
Psyshock

The only bad thing about Gothitelle is lack of recovery, to be honest.

That's the EV spread I was thinking already, since I was leaning toward a Bold nature myself. What I was starting to conjure up was this:

Gothitelle @ Leftovers
Bold
252 HP/252 Def/6 SpD
Calm Mind
Psychic/Psyshock
Thunderbolt
Dark Pulse/Shadow Ball

The slashes are only there because I'm not 100% set on anything yet.

EDIT - Also, weighing the options between Thunderbolt and Thunder Wave since that was something else I considered, but I figured if I was going for Calm Mind anyway it would only make sense to make it Thunderbolt.

@Virizion - well, regarding Specs Kingdra, I was tempted by the whole "OHKOes 252/252 Calm Blissey with Sniper Rain-boosted Hydro Pump" thing, haha. Now that I think about it, my team really lacks physical sweepers (save for Breloom), so swapping Specs Kingdra for DD Kingdra might be a pretty good idea after all. Thanks for a suggestion.

Random Battle + Choice Scarf?

Are choice scarf mons generally used a lot in random battles singles of 3v3?
Obviously in 6v6 singles, Scarfers play huge roles. Say, are scarfChomps used a lot at all? Or are random battles like battle subway where SDChomp with sub (usually with lum) very dominant? I was thinking scarfers wouldn't be too dominant since in 3v3, switching shouldn't happen as often as it does in 6v6 (as well as the obv fact of limited team slot of 3v3).

After you play for a while, it's pretty easy to call them when you see them; They aren't THAT common. However, they can easily screw you over if you aren't prepared. Scarfchomps are fairly common among scarfers; Scarf Togekiss is also common. They aren't "dominant". However, be wary if you think that something is scarfed, since if it DOES kill something, that's 33% of your team

Out of curiosity... Is Drizzle and swift swim still illegal if it happens by chance and not on purpose.

I.E. a Trace user or a DW ditto when its released?

How do you spread Pokerus?
Take the Pokemon that is infected with Pokerus into battle, battling something, and the Pokemon adjacent to the infect Pokemon have a chance to contract Pokerus as well. The Pokemon with Pokerus does not have to be the one battling fyi.

How does PO's Ranking work on the Smogon server?

When I do it, I am at...

19:30:30) @HAL9000: Your rank in BW OU is 1621/22689.

But I was at 1402 earlier and I think I won more than I lost. Am I just remembering wrong or does PO's rating system not work the way I thought? And what is a "good" rating?

Just two quick questions ....
1) How can i post new threads?? I am new and i cant figure out where i have to click to post new threads and ask my own questions.

2)I trained a houndoom and i (for whatever reason i cant realize) confused with the nature and messed up some evs(bad distribution, wasted 8 evs) The questions are:

-If i modify JUST THE NATURE AND SOME OF THE EVS with the pokesav just to make it as i wanted him to be, will it be considered as "hacked" pokemon??
-If i transfer it to Pokemon Battle Revolution, will it be considered as a Bad Egg???

The pokemon itself is legit, caught in-game and trained in a legal way.

Let's say I'm running a defensive core of a SpD Nattorei, a Def Gliscor, and a mixed Evo-Stone Dusclops. What would be a good user of Toxic Spikes that could also function as a lead?

1: You don't create threads to ask questions. That's what this thread is for.

2: Yes, it will be hacked.

I had a friend tell me he wants to use a Sheer Force Nidoking with LO, and apparently according to him Sheer Force negates LO's recoil damage. Judging by Sheer Force's written effect, i thought it only negated moves' side effects, not items. Can anyone clarify this either way? I want to see if SF Nidoking if really viable.

It does negate LO recoil, but only when you use attacks that are boosted by SF.

ev trainng

yo everyone :P

1st question

if i catch lets say a dragonite on lv 55 in the wild with adamant nature and i train my own dratiny to dragonite with the same nature will there be a huge difference in stats if i train my pokemon myself instead of catching it on a higher level? (not talking about 3 or 4 in difference more like 15/20 ish)

2nd question

if i evolve staryu on lv 35 or i evolve a staryu on lv 1 will there be difference in stats if they are going to be on the same level? (same as with dragonite)

thanks in advance :)

For the first question, the Dragonite that is trained will have significantly higher stats, because it will have gained EVs as it levels up, which the wild Dragonite does not.

However, the level that Staryu evolves at does not influence what stats it gets. It will have the same number of EVs as the same staryu evolved at a different level, so the stats will be the same, unlike Dragonite.

So here is my situation: I have an American Ditto that I spent a long time on to get near perfect IVs in my Platinum version. I transfered (via PokeTransfer) this Ditto to an American White version. I then traded it from that White version to a Japanese Black version. My question is, will this Ditto still count as foreign and qualify for the Masuda Method? I can't imagine why it wouldn't, but I just want to be sure before I commit to hatching any shinies. I would be very grateful to anyone with a definitive answer.

Thanks!
