Jun Husabee's list and Jeremy Scharff-Kim's (Ignore the date in the article all the other sources say thats a 2007 deck) are the only ones from that year that had Psychic in it. The signature looks more like a Jeremy to me, especially since I think I can make out a dash at the end.

Another question... I know this is early, but what do you think is more likely...

1) VGC 2011 keeps the same rules as this year.
or
2) VGC 2011 implements triple battles from the fifth generation.
or
3) VGC 2011 implements something else

Simplest, less hectic, appears to be most balanced. Some minor rule adjustments, but other than that I would think it would stay the same.

4) VGC 2011 uses the 2008/2009 rules, with flat battle adjustments.

One can only hope...
I think it'll probably be triples of some kind though.

My prediction is that they will have 4X4 Doubles with similar rules to last year.

1) Reason being, many have said they were slow to implement doubles when R/S came out.
2) Ubers cut the length of most matches down (though not all, LOOKING AT YOU LEN AND DEAGLE!! >_>) , especially at qualifiers.

Players found to have Pokémon that have been tampered with will be disqualified from the event, regardless of whether the player tampered with his or her game or received a Pokémon or item that was tampered with by someone other than the player.

What would qualify as a "tampered item"? Does this include the Action Replay 999 of all items code or just PokeSav'd items?

My apologies if this is an all-too commonly asked question. If it is I can remove this.

I dunno what would qualify as a hacked item besides event-only stuff that hasn't been released yet or duplicates of something that is impossible to trade (Griseo... Gris... uh, the Giratina Orb).

At any rate, the rules are kind of specific in that they seem to only apply to the specific Pokemon/items on the team sheet. I doubt they'd sack you for having hacked stuff in your PC; otherwise, anyone who trades regularly on the GTS is boned.

What is bolded is true.

In any case, so what you're saying is that if I entered VGC 2011 I would be alright with 999 Griseous orbs in my bag, but not OK having Giratina and ditto (god knows why) holding one each on my team?

That makes sense.

... Then again, I don't know if I'll even HAVE 999 of all items for VGC 2011, what with Black and White coming out. I'll probably just transfer everything I own that's useful over to my White/Black with no item codes on it then leave my Platinum the way it is.

Ditto can't hold a Griseous Orb.

In response to the triple battles prediction...

That would obviously require people using their copy of Black/White, which is being released in the US during the Spring. Is that giving people enough time for people to get a copy and play through it? I'm not sure they would use B/W with such a close release date, but that's my opinion.

They released HGSS in the U.S. two months before the U.S. VGC tournaments, which were HGSS-only.

You didn't have to have a finished game to play in the tournaments, though. All you needed was to be far enough in the game to trade Pokemon to your cartridge and you were set.

Though with HGSS most people already had lots of trained Pokemon on Platinum\Diamond\Pearl carts that they could easily transfer over. With B\W, it'll probably be new enough that most players won't have built up a collection of 5th gen Pokemon, though. I imagine most people are going to be transferring Pokemon over from their 4th gen carts, which is probably going to require you complete your game first.

I have a feeling U.S. players will be scrambling to get teams together for this year. But we at least have the opportunity to see what Japanese VGC teams will be like before the tournaments get here.

From a sheer marketing perspective they'd have to be absolutely insane not to make us play on Black and White. The expense of these events has to be significant for them, I'd be stunned if it wasn't on 5th gen carts so that they can be promoting a new game for us to buy.

Makes me glad I'm importing, but if nothing else it'll make for a really fun month or so as everyone crams before the first regionals!

I should have Black by next month, so I might look at training some trades up if that helps at all. Get the training done early, yeah?
