I doubt that Marth would be out just because Ike is in. Marth started the whole entire FE series. Adding other characters from FE without Marth would be like adding characters from Mario without Mario.

Not really.... Marth isn't necessary to the series FE series like Mario is to his.... Mario is in every non-spin off game of his series. The games pretty much revolve around Mario's adventures, and any game where Mario isn't the main character is a game about Mario's nemesis Wario or Mario's brother Luigi (and that was only one, spin-offy game). Mario didn't just start the Mario series; he is the Mario series. Marth is hardly to Fire Emblem what Mario is to his own series.

That being said, Marth is definitely an important character to FE and he could very well be included. But I suspect that Ike and any other more recent Fire Emblem characters will completely replace Marth and Roy.

I'm hoping for Black Knight. Or maybe they'll just use 1 FE character and then to make up for the loss of 2 FE characters just add a swordsman from a different series(Takamaru? Do golden sun characters have swords?)

Also Marth and Ike are both about the same height, both have swords, and both have blue hair...don't you think that might get a little confusing for some people on the battle field?? all the more reason to give Marth the big smelly sailor's boot...

Marth and Ike to do look alike, but if you seen their offical art or how they played in each of there respective games they're different as well. I mean Mario and Luigi look very similar should Luigi get the cut because he looks a bit like Mario? Kirby and Jigglypuff look alike also ( my cousins have confused the two when playing SSBM ) should Kirby or Jigglypuff get booted because they look similar too?

I'm not saying you have this opinion but I've seen alot of people in other forums say that Ike and Marth could not be in the same game because they have blue hair and would confuse people.

I don't agree. I think Ike and Marth are both unique enough to be in SSBB without being clones of each other.

Uhh...Link and Young Link look like the exact same damn thing and that didn't stop them.

Also Marth is pretty feminine lol

that said, either just Roy will be replaced, or both of them will be. Roy staying with Marth leaving makes very little sense.

i think the guy said something about "trying his best" but i also read somewhere that there would be no leaderboards or anything of the sort...i'm guessing it will be a bit disappointing =(

I like Ike. He looks cool. I cannot wait for this game to come out; is it set to be the 2nd Wi-Fi game for the Wii?

No Wi-Fi is confirmed as of yet. It won't be the 2nd game by the way. Mario Strikers Charged is Wi-Fi compatible. We can't forget the Japanese Wi-Fi titles.

Edit: Screwed up what I meant to say.

Well whoever said FE stage (did someone say that?) was right.... Well... more breaking floors :/.... The fall to the underground looks like a brief mid-air falling battle, which would be pretty cool.

I really like this stage update: Castle Siege. It also proves that Ike will not be the only Fire Emblem rep ( not that I had any doubts that there would not be more ) because they would of just put a stage based on Ike's game if their wasn't.

This stage looks like a alot of fun to play on; it kinda reminds me of the Ice Climbers stage except your going down. >_> nice cliff hanger of what could be underground though.

I know I'm pushing my luck by hoping for this, but perhaps Sakurai will release a sample of the music from this stage, if he did it could perhaps give us a clue of what other Fire Emblem characters could be in.

It doesn't really prove that there are more FE reps, but it makes it more likely.

I would still like to see Black Knight, though the ambiguity Sakurai kept in the stage makes it seem like he'll take a character from a different FE game and put him/her in.

The Ike addition is interesting. Like a few of you have said, Marth and Roy may get the boot. I hope you guys are wrong. So many fans will be disappointed if marth is gone. (screw roy)

Good call on the update, Sonius.

I was actually playing with the idea of freefall in my mind, and now that i see they'll use it, i think it's going to be a great stage--or 3 stages.

I don't think Ike will replace them seeing as his fighting style is a tad different (2h sword in one hand). And leave Roy alone I thik he's cool!

Two Earthbound stages in Melee, only one Earthbound representative. Only one Ice Climbers Stage in Melee, only one Ice Climbers representative. Two F-Zero stages in Melee, only one F-Zero representative. "Representative" in this case does not include trophies. If you're trying to push character representation (Again, not trophies) in correlation to stage count, don't push your luck. Like CasMat said, it doesn't prove anything. It proves shit diddly-squat. This isn't the NSider forums, so don't act like members on that forum. If you want to melt your mind, then by all means watch their activity.

Past that, I'm surprised my theory is starting to become reality. Let's see if it becomes truth tomorrow. I won't be sad though if it's wrong.

The stage looks awesome, and seems to like the theme of things breaking. Castle Siege's falling down part has me worried due to Meteor Smashes. Will characters get KO'd if they get Meteor Smashed? We don't know how long or far the drop is. This means that a character could get low enough to KO. That's an obvious problem with Skyworld which we will have to live with.

So, if my theory's true, then let's make a deal! What will the update be about, if the theory I made is correct?
  1. Special Moves Ike 1 (B & Up-B).
  2. Special Moves Ike 2 (Foward-B & Down-B).
  3. Final Smash Ike.
  4. A second stage.
  5. Music for Castle Seige.
  6. A new FE character (Not happening, I assure you).
Again, this holds only if my theory is correct. Don't get your hopes high. This is for fun purposes only.

Oh so true =( That board has been hell ever since E3 2006.

I'm going to say this my excitement about the update did delude my mind for a while and I shouldn't of said anything like that because it's not an absolute. Most likely there will be more than one Fire Emblem character ( Does that sounds reasonable because I think it does, I mean even though I used to much of an absolute during my reply I really do think that FE will have more than one character reprsenting it, disagree with me if you want.)

I've never been on Nsider so I really don't know what you meant by that comment. I don't want to start an uneeded conflict about this but I just wanted to get some things straighted out.

Next time I'm excited about an update I'll make sure my comments aren't so in the "absolute zone" because I really don't know what could be revealed in the future.

I'll make that deal. I'll bet on Special Moves, (i dont think it matters which two), or Music for Castle Siege. His final smash so early is a little hard to believe, #6 is off the table, and i doubt we'll see his second stage.

I will enjoy seeing, however, any pictures with Ike in them, as a clue to how he moves. I believe, unconditionally, that he will be different from Marth/Roy.

Screw that, Roy was the funnest character ever, even if he wasn't the best.

Also, in my earlier statement, i meant to say, Ike'll be the first lord in two INTERNATIONALLY released games, making him more accessible and popular to the rest of the world, not only diehard fans.

EDIT: I know we're not going to be Nsider, or think 'OMG WHITE BACKGROUND MEANS DR. MARIO'

But, a search of Smashboards shows this topic: (only first post included) http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=2445286&postcount=1

I think it's good discussion material.

From what it says, there are at least 18 icons, presumably representing 18 series.

(In no particular order)
1. Smash Bros Symbol, for Battlefield, and other original stages.
2. Mushroom Symbol, for Mario/Bowser.
3. Triforce Symbol, for Link/Zelda (Ganondorf, hopefully)
4. Warpstar Symbol, for Kirby.
5. Metaknight Symbol, can be found in photos, as an M with a sword through the middle, of course for Metaknight.
6. Pokeball Symbol, for Pikachu and friends.
7. Starfox Symbol, for Fox and friends.
8. Metroid Symbol, for Samus, Zamus, and friends.
9. DK Symbol, for DK and friends.
10. Egg Symbol, for Yoshi.
11. Bow and Arrow Symbol, for Pit.
12. 'W' Symbol, for Wario.
13. Sword Symbol, for Ike and friends.
14. Leaf Symbol, for the Animal Crossing world.
15. Falcon Symbol, for C. Falcon and his Goroh assist.
16. ??? Symbol, must represent Snake in some way.
17. ???
18. ???

So, we know at least 18 symbols exist, for representation of 18 series.

What could those last be? Note that this is NOT saying that there are only 18 series represented.

With at least two symbols, it's good to note that the only other symbols in existence are G+W's symbol, The IC's Eggplant, and the Earthbound symbol.

Discuss.

Looking at the symbols is pretty good idea. One of the remaining 2 has to be the earthbound symbol. Ness was an original character. I think the last symbol could be for another 3rd party symbol. Or they might just give all the 3rd party characters the same symbol. But where did this number 18 come from? Anyway when are they going to put snake on the website?

Edit: I reread the post and realized where the number 18 came from. Pit's image name was

I believe the Earthbound symbol will be there. It's been a solid series, and ever since Ness's first appearance in SSB, the series has just gained a lot of popularity in the other regions. So, I think we'll be having a Ness return. People keep mentioning Lucas (Mother 3/"Earthbound 2") will be there over Ness. From what I recently read off of IGN though, the developers don't plan on using region-only characters. I.E.: Marth and Roy were "Japan Only" on their Classic Trophies. So that means that Lucas wouldn't qualify, since "Earthbound 2" (Presumably) has been released in the US.

I don't know about Ice Climbers and Mr. G&W for icons 17 and 18, due to tossing around the rumor that Ice Climbers and Mr. G&W won't be back. A lot of times I should say. As much as I know also (and have seen), Metaknight doesn't have his own Icon.

Also, I heard that the Metal Gear symbol is supposed to look like a fox? We've seen it already, but I don't know what the symbol is supposed to look like. Unless it's just a general organization icon, then I don't know much.

hahaha NSider jesus christ that place is a shithole in general

Anyways, I think it's pretty safe to say that there will be more than 18 "franchises" or whatever represented in the game, so I think this point is kind of moot.
