Bummer's Art Shack

Lol should've made him barreling through the ground at high speeds
Smart though, but really similar to the magnemite one from forever ago?

Love your stuff, Bummer, as always!

I was just reading through your older comics. I'd love to see another exciting episode of "Wailord and Quagsire," but that might just be me ;)

Alright, made a new strip, and it's a rather wordy one. While it's technically finished to be posted onto the site, I figured I'd post it here to get some input, because if there are some details or sentences which could be corrected or improved then that would be a good time to notice now. What I want to know is this:

  • Is it easy to read through the arrengement of text boxes?
  • Did the point come through in the last panel?

I'm not expecting you to answer those questions, but it'd be nice to hear about it. Anyhow, here's the strip.

love the detail on the lunatone & yanma comic
Thanks!

That request has been made by others as well, I'm just not certain about how to go through with it. But I want to make one!

I think having something more out-of-the-ordinary than "bring it on" would be more humorous. That is, the kind of strange things some of the trainers say upon talking to them.

I think it works because it's like the man is thinking that asking for help is the same as a challenge. It makes for a slightly crazy and awkward moment.

That man is sort of in the same position as the player, where everyone approaching him is a trainer regardless of what they say. So if I were to make him say something strange, then the kid would need to challenge him to a battle. Which wouldn't work too well considering the earlier panels.

Although if you have something better for him to say besides "BRING IT ON", then I'm all ears. As long as it's made clear that he thinks he's being challenged to a battle.

That's the plan, yes.

Yeah, I think there is a lot of build up with a low amount of punch line but I can't think of anything better than "Bring it on!" so I guess I'm no help.

Add another couple of panels after the last one in which the older trainer sends out a Steelix (or some other giant, OP Pokemon) and had it fling the kid into the sky team rocket style. That would add the right amount of punch.

I think I'll be substituing the old trainer with Gold. I'm used to drawing completely unrelated people for this brand of topics, but since he's the position the player usually is, I might as well put an official protagonist there.

And by doing that, I just might change what the kid says as well, and maybe remove his map too.

Maybe as an actual punch, yes, but in what way is that battle related to the earlier panels?

How about that fisherman who says "I like feisty kids like you!"?

I do like the idea a lot though!

That quote is good enough to stand for a strip on its own. I'm focusing on how the introductions are random and ultimately pointless, while that one is plain creepy.

That one is also my favorite pre-battle quote. No lie.

okay so I fixed stuff

Posted to the site.

wow..lol'ed hard on all your strips there. good work! i'll put the page in my Favorites tab...
Coolios. Although I keep urging everyone who follow several webcomics and also dislikes RSS to use Piperka. It's essentialy a list of bookmarks which tracks all updates.

Marvelous.

Now with that out of the way, I figured I could start on my favorite type meme. Already have two down, but that's still 15 types left. Hoo boy. Seeing as I just LOVE to make thing complicated, I will draw them in manners I see fit, so the drawing style will differ between the pokes. So expect the usual setup but with more flare.

Wow, two really different styles on those two. Nice to see more of your art besides your comics, not that they aren't amazing it's just really pleasant for a change to see some more of your talent. Keep it up, I really enjoy your work

Thanks. It IS slightly different to draw them outside the strip frames, and since these are my favorites, it'd make for an opportunity to try out some stuff I usually don't bother to do in my comic. If tonight goes smoothly, I'll continue wíth my Drifblim (flying) and maybe Beedrill (poison) as well.

While it is admittedly difficult to say for certain, I beleive that there is a strong possibility that that Lanturn may, in fact, be The Most Adorable Thing Ever. Great use of the light source, and that expression is just.... :D
Loving the different styles, and looking forward to more! You know, I ought to indulge in the Favorite Type Meme myself someday...
Merry Christmas, all!

echoing what everyone above me's said about your fantastic skill with Lanturn, and drawing Heracross coming out of the box like sticking his head out of a window is a nice touch! you've only barely started and I'm already eager to see what it'll look like all put together :)
