Buying a Wii

Gunstar heroes has the best 2-player co-op mode EVER if you ask me. Also, Wii play does not come with the Wii. It does come with an extra controller though, for about 10$ more and it's worth it for that reason alone. As for where to buy the Wii... Wherever you can find one =)

Gunstar Heroes is amazing. I have Wii play and I do enjoy it when my friends are over. :D

As Ekans said, I found Wii play worth the 55 dollars I paid for it simply because the wii remote is like 40 dollars and the game is worth the 15 dollars imo.

Omigosh now I can't wait for school to end!~

I'll buy these things:
Wii + WiiSports - 250.00
Wii Controller + WiiPlay - 55.00
Twilight Princess + Gunstar Heroes - 100.00?
Total: 405.00!

So I'll end up with 2 controls, right?

The only thing was Wario Ware, it was fun but it seemed too short. The games get repetitive, and it really needs multiple players to be really enjoyable.

With Warioware you need to be able to just sit down and play it just for fun/challenge because the story mode, while great, is way too short. The minigames are fantastic though. Just wish it had better multiplayer.

Btw kristy, Gunstar Heroes costs about 8$, being a VC game. I think the minimum you can buy is 20$ worth of VC points though... that's fine IMO as there are a lot of other good classic games, eg. Mario Bros, Mario World, Mario 64, Zelda, Zelda LttP, Zelda OoT, Donkey Kong Country 1&2, Sonic, Castlevania, Starfox 64, Mariokart 64, etc.)

So that's:
~Wii w/Wii Sports: 250$
+Wii Play/Remote: 55$
+Twilight Princess: 50$
+Gunstar Heroes, etc. 20$
Total: 375$

I live in Canada so I'm not 100% sure what Twilight Princess and stuff cost, but yeah. All this for less than a 360.

Yay, I'll follow your list, ekans dilos!~

If I buy Gunstar Heroes, could I buy other games, too, like Zelda with the 20 dollars?

Will it cost less if I order it online?

This is my focus on things:

Wii: A must have game system that will bring past Nintendo games out of the Dark Ages.(Except for past Zelda games, cause...well, they were never there.) And it is the cheapest of the three at $250.

PS3: Well...The pic will explain everything.
eatsmoneyhp6.gif

Oh, and also it's the most expensive at $600 WTF?!?!

Bitchbox 3Shitty(a.k.a. Xbox 360): Horrible game system that only idiots like. This is the absolute worst system ever. Screw Bill Gates.
----------

Well you have to get the Wii. Pokémon Battle Revolution comes out on June 25th, so you will have a game to play in no time. Also they are off the shelves in no time at all. So I sugest getting it ASAP.

Wow. Thanks for this incredibly enlightening post. Your overwhelming logic (heh, Bitchbox 3Shitty IT MUST SUCK) has proven to me that the Wii is the only console I will purchase from this generation, and that Microsoft and Playstation obviously put no effort into their systems. Thank you, sir, for your guidance.

With whatever Wii Points you have leftover after your purchase, you can continue to shop and spend them on the Wii Shop Channel (Virtual Console or Wii Software).

Will it cost less if I order it online?

You can only get games such as Gunstar Heroes and The Legend of Zelda (NES one, right?) for the Wii by purchasing them via the Wii Shop Channel's Virtual Console. Browse through the Virtual Console and see how much a game/software costs. The price per game is based on its SYSTEM only.

If you're talking about buying Wii Points, people seem to complain about buying them at stores about paying sales tax. Paying $22 for $20 might set off a few people, no? However, buying Wii Points online has had issues or so I've heard. For example, I heard that people can't buy them period because of an issue that pops up.

Before you ask, if a download fails, you don't have to buy the game/software again. Same applies if you delete said game/software. You just download what you had bought again.

No I mean buying the Wii online. Will it cost less? I don't mind the wait since I am supposed to buy it in a week, anyway. :P

I would figure that it would end up being more pricey in the long run. Also, S&H charges, limited return options, etc. Buy it in a week I declare. Just make sure you're there on time to get it.

This is correct. There is one exception to the rule however and that's TMNT for NES which costs 600 points unlike the rest of the NES games which cost 500. Apparently due to liscencing fees or something. Doesn't matter though, just don't buy it ;) (it's not like its awesome sequels).

lol@ the Bitchbox 3Shitty... I kinda have to agree with his comment about the Wii ending Nintendo's "niche" years, which is awesome... Incidentally I'm thinking of getting a 360 just to satiate my hunger for next-gen graphics/games but not many games interest me (and PS3 isn't looking good right now...) :/ I don't give a crap about halo for instance. If they announce MGS4/FFXIII is being ported i'll buy it for sure, though. 'Til then, live by the Wii, die by the Wii (and DS...).

And Kristy; get up nice and early. =P

Edit: 100 Posts!

Wii60 is the best choice for money, gaming wise, and overall coolness of saying Wii60.

Wii=249.99 USD

DarthMew is a RPG fanboy and thus doesn't care what else the 360 offers in other genres, I was once anti-Microsoft/X-Box but when Sony decided to drop a $600 machine in my lap and say buy it, I decided Microsoft offered the NEAR exact experience for a much lower price, I'll go with Big N and M$ this gen.

And my sig is very funny and applies to this.
There's nothing wrong with being an RPG fanboy, and I'm kinda tired of it being talked about as if there were. The 360 outdates the PS3 by like a year or so and therefore would obviously have more games, but game availability and price are not factors to calculate capability and overall quality.

PS3 - I've hardly touched a PS3, there so elusive because of the quantities and price. Not much to say other than, wow it costs freaking $600.

Xbox360 - All you who hack at Xbox are crazy. It's not a bad system at all, and one of my favorite things is that just about every game has online capabilities, even the arcade games you can download online like Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighter (which all Xbox owners should have, especially if you like fighting games)

Wii - Wii is awesome too, mainly for it's unique first party titles. The wii sensing does play a role though, while the Wii is still new, you have to be careful of cash-ins that use the Wiimote in the most gimmicky ways. How Wii's games will function online still remains a mystery, but what online functions that have offered are really cool such as the internet browser, shopping, and weather.

It's very hard to come by... I call every day around stores but they don't have it. Best bet is to call like I do and hopefully you may get one. The games seem appealing to me like PBR, Mario Party 8, DBZ Tenkaichi 2, etc. etc.

As for the other two, PS3 costs dang way too much and I've heard that the 360 isn't so hott.

Some people get so heated over this console "war".. You guys dont realize that all of the makers of the consoles are making money they are all "winning". If Sony happens to lose this "war" because their product costs to much do you think they will suddenly die out or something? of course not, they still have their TV's and such, they aren't going anywhere. Oh and obviously because the 360 has only sold 248198million to the wii's 123841551 million microsoft is going to immediately end.

You can enjoy your system to a great extent but just because you like it more doesn't make it better than any other one. It's all opinion based anyhow.
Why did I write so much...

I've played the 360, I have the Wii. Graphics-wise, the Xbox owns the Wii anyday. But fun wise, my friends always ask me to get my Wii and don't even bother asking the dude who has the 260 so that gives a good idea doesn't it?

Its just sucky. Its the same as the original Xbox in terms of games and stuff. Sure, there will be a couple of new titles but it'll be the same games, just different stories. The Wii provides a different and much more fun experience.

The PS3 is still okay imo, if you have the cash and are willing to spend it. Atleast it has motion censor and stuff which is the new thing in games.

Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition is fantastic. It makes an already amazing modern classic better and it costs less than other games (29.99 i believe in the US). Must-buy for EVERYONE with a Wii (well, everyone who can handle extreme violence anyway), whether or not you've played the original RE4 before.

And actually MNL, Microsoft hasn't made a penny off the Xbox line since it started. In fact they've lost considerable sums. They plan on breaking even soon though! Say what you will about the Xbox/360, I'm not suggesting that they're bad consoles, but they were basically able to establish themselves because Microsoft has a lot of money to invest, and keep investing, and also because of the name. I can't say for sure, but had a lesser company come out with such a console, we might've seen another 3DO.

I keep thinking about the PS3, a lot of the exclusive games appeal to me more than 360's (well.. to be specific it's basically MGS4, FF13 and maybe Ninja Gaiden... I really don't give a rat's behind about Halo or anything else on 360 really.) but honestly it's a joke. 700$ (in canada)? Please. That might not be as big an issue IF it were not losing all of its exclusives as well. I'm waiting patiently for the day Squenix and Konami announce that they're bringing their games to 360 to make more money, effectively killing the PS3.

And Shiv, IMHO the PS3's motion sensor was thrown in at the last minute to say "hey, look mister Wii! We have it too! HAHA!" When really all it'll do will be replacing buttons like we're seeing on all too many Wii games (knifing with a swinging motion is awesome in RE4 IMO, and actually does make it better). I think it'll become even worse though on PS3, since it will mostly be 360 ports where "Now you can do this by moving the controller instead of pressing A! Wow!" More often than not it would probably detract from the experience... So overall I'm skeptical about the PS3 but I might actually cave in if Kojima and whoever SE's president is come out and say something like: "Know what? We're gonna keep em exclusives because Sony gave us a 50 million dollar subsidy each...i mean...! The uh, PS3 is a great and unique console and... ah fuck..." Because 360, while I do think it will become the leading next-gen system (i.e. not counting the Wii), has squat right now that interests me, except the non-exclusive Assasin's Creed, RE5, etc. and maybe Perfect Dark 0 because I love the original, and maybe Gears of War.

Wow... how did this turn into such a long rant? Anyway, thanks for reading my opinion and buy RE4!

I'm gonna be honest: I regret buying my Wii. I didn't really think it through at all. The first ~3 or so weeks after purchase, I didn't. But right after I beat Zelda, I realized that there's nothing out for it. I mean, I bought SPM, and that revitalized my interest in the system, but when I was done with that? Pshaw. Games like Wario Ware and Brain-Age don't really appeal to me -- they're fun for like 20 minutes, then you get bored. I mean, what happened to all those promised launch (or very early after launch) titles? Brawl? MP3? SMG? Until the big titles start hitting the Wii, I'm still gonna regret my purchase. And what's more annoying is that the first big title , MP3, is due out August 20, the week when I leave to go back to school.

As for the Virtual Console, it's nifty, very nifty. Unfortunately for them and their "cash in on classics" mentality, I kept all of my shit in good condition. If I wanna play Gunstar Heroes, I'll take my Sega out from its hiding place, plug it in, break in the controllers and get right to it. I don't need to spend $20 buying Wii Points, only to spend $8 of those dollars on the game and be left with $12 for nothing. Although I can't do the same with NES games -- my 2nd NES broke down last summer after intense Contra-ige.

I bought a Wii about a month ago but I haven't played it yet. I tried it out on the very first day and played around with the features, Wii Sports and Zelda a bit but I haven't touched it since. It's not that I don't want, I simply haven't had the time seeing Pokémon and a few other things eating up my time.

Still, I definitely don't regret buying one. I know there are some sweet games in the making but I'm not really stressed to get my hands on them. It just feels good to know that I will be able to play them when they do arrive.

I have a Wii and have enjoyed it very much, although not as much as I was hoping. I presume this will swiftly change with the advent of Brawl/Galaxy/Metroid etc however.

The 360 is a very good purchase though, going by what I have played on my friend's consoles. I'm hoping to pick one up later this year as it has some real gems in its library.

The PS3 I could never justify a purchase to myself though. Ignoring the stupid price ($800 over here), there just aren't any exclusive games I really want, which is the main deciding point for me.
