Dude, I'm all with you! I THINK IT SHOULD HAVE TAILWIND! I just think it would have been better as mechanically identical, alternate flavor signature move! Or anything! I don't see how that makes all this a bunch of crap! I'm not saying that we should sacrifice mechanics in any way! I certainly did say that once, but I never said it again after you made this post back in the Support Moves poll.I'll rephrase "Flavor is bullshit" a little nicer and more to the point -- "We should not be discussing flavor so much."
I find it terribly disappointing that in the VAST NUMBER of posts that discuss Tailwind, almost NONE OF THEM actually talk about the impact of the move on the metagame. Almost none. That is utterly pathetic for a project that is supposedly comprised of learned metagame players. All we talk about is pre-evos, and wings, and Butterfree, and wind-powers on Suicune, and whether spinning hands can make the wind blow, how he can push other pokemon from behind, blah blah BLAH! What a fucking joke...
Here we have a move that can raise the entire teams speed, and we have paired it with an ability that adds two additional turns to that effect. How can that NOT be meaningful in the metagame?!? I'm not saying it's broken, nor am I saying it is underpowered. But, surely someone would think it might be mentioned when discussing the move. But, nooooo! Of all these people on the project that see fit to post discussion about Tailwind -- all everyone can think about is the FLAVOR in which the pokemon executes the move? That is incredibly disappointing to me.
Look, this is not about flavor vs. mechanics or any of that bullcrap. That's not even what I'm talking about. I'm not saying that we should put flavor in front of mechanics, or even on par with mechanics. But if going to have Tailwind anyway, then what is so wrong about asking for the flavor to be moderated in the slightest bit?! Christ on a crutch. This is not a disgrace. What would be a disgrace is if people didn't let this Pokémon be the best it can be, and the whole preevo thing isn't getting in the way of the mechanics at all. It's just making the flavor a little bit more manageable. It still has the move. It can still double your team's speed for five turns. Great. Okay? Whatever.
I sent Sunday a PM asking him if we could have a poll to see if people would rather have it be an alternate-flavor signature move so that we wouldn't have to be dealing with this preevo bullshit in the first place, but he never replied! I understand he's a busy man, but I'm sick of everybody rolling their eyes at this when I'm not even proposing anything that gets in the way of the mechanics at all! I used to be all like, "oh, how could it get U-Turn, everything else that gets U-Turn either flies or is really zippy," and I don't say shit like that anymore. I understand why this thing needs Tailwind. I'm just saying that anyone who says that the flavor isn't messed up here is just kidding themselves, and why the hell can't we take a couple of extra steps to patch up the flavor when the mechanics don't change one bit.
What's such a fucking joke is that we're still sitting here talking about this at all, when this all could have been done with a long time ago if we'd just compromised like I'd suggested and make an alternate-flavor signature move. Am I really such an anarchist to suggest that we get our heads out of our asses and meet each other halfway? Sorry for trying to save a sabotaged flavor in a way that still leaves the mechanics perfectly intact. Jeeze.
