Name: Break the Mold

Description:
An OU viable pokemon that goes completely against the stereotypes of its typing.

Type: Rock

Doug manages to phrase this way better than I've been able to:

The Stat Spread Submission thread is intentionally started very early in the process. Based on past pokemon, it's obvious there are a lot of people that enjoy discussing detailed stat spreads long before the actual stat spread poll. We do not want to police those early bird discussions in the normal threads, therefore we create a dedicated thread for all Stat Spread discussion. Does it matter that we don't know the style, build, or anything else about the pokemon? No. If people waste a bunch of time in this thread on submissions that turn out to be useless when the stat spread poll comes around -- so be it. This is the place for people to "prove themselves" to the TL, for purposes of being selected to submit a spread for the actual stat spread poll.

The final Stat Spreads submitted for the stat spread poll must conform to the numeric rating limits voted in the various bias and rating polls -- the Offensive/Defensive Balance (ODB), the Physical/Special Balance (PSB) and the overall Base Stats Rating (BSR). Any spread that does not conform to these limits will be disqualified by the TL. As the bias and rating polls unfold, the discussion in the Stat Spread Submission thread should adapt accordingly.
Factors that will influence the Base Stat Spread that are yet to be decided are:
Style Bias
Build Bias
Base Stat Rating

People do not need to be submitting anything to post in this thread. This is just for chucking ideas around. I'll start this thread off with an idea of my own: A spread with Decent HP, Low but usable Attack, Low Defense, Medium-High SpA, Decent SpD, and Fast.

Yeah I stole this from Sunday xD
Lets get this started!

Edit: Have a BSR Applet:

Lets throw this out there:
HP: 70
Quite but not very low, Rocks have decent HP on the whole.

Atk: 50
Its got to be low, and 50 is as low as I am comfortable with going.

Def: 50
See Attack.

SpA: 120
It has one STAB and its resisted by quite a lot, lets give it some power.

SpD: 85
mmm... 85 lets it have a chance of taking resisted Sp. Hits well enough (Togekiss's Air Slash).

Spe: 122
Just to piss of Syclant. Seriously though this could be moved to 115 or something.

This has a rating of 316 (Very Good), and a BST of 497. Its Special Sweepyness is "Amazing" and Special Tankyness is "Average" but the Phy. Stats are very poor.

HP: 115
Pretty high HP.

Atk: 60
Pretty low...

Def: 50
See Attack.

SpA: 126
Special sweeping rock ftw.

SpD: 70
Not bad, but not good.

Spe: 124
Just underspeeds the base 125's for some balence.

Just a ballparker cause no biases have been decided. Will make a more in depth submission later, Just looking for feedback.

hm....

HP : 75
Atk : 55
Defence : 55
SAtk : 120
SDef : 80
Speed : 120

Total : 505

Seems about right to me. Mainly just breaking the mold :3

Why is everyone so focused on giving it shit poor Physical stats? I personally think we should atleast give it some defense so it doesn't die instantly.

Rock: Slow, Hard to Break.

Typically very physically attack focused with low HP, Sp. Atk Speed, High Def.

So my spread:

90/65/50/120/85/120 = 530

Very against a usual Rock Typing.

I'm liking the 121+ speed.

Havak, that 102 speed is begging for more trouble personally. We just banned Garchomp, and people bitch about Syclant constantly.

My ideal spread would have Moderatly high (110-125) SpA, and Very High (125-140) Speed.

HP: 75
Atk: 65
Def: 60
SpA: 120
SpD: 80
Spe: 130
Total: 530

A pretty high BST but matches a lot of pokemon, and is the same as the starters. I think it's stats need to be it's selling point because as a special sweeper I can't see it doing much with rock stab only >_>
Oh beats syclant weavile and sky shaymin ftw

the fact remain, that this thing is a rock, so whilst by defence is Relatively low, its not tragic.

i mean seriously, even a crumbly rock is still solid.....

anyhoo
hp:78 - average
att:60 - not too low, not very high though
defence:70 - below average just about, makes sense...its still arock
sp.att:115 - nice, but not game breaking...means that it'll depend on the pokes move rather then stats
sp.def 80 - average
speed 122 - beats out base 120s, loses to weavile, jolt aero etc, so it can be countered decently. 122 as opposed to 121 to round the stat total out

total:525
yeah, high, but i dont think its too overpowered in any respect.

i would kinda suggest this pokemon needs to be quite....rounded, and smooth so that low attack makes more sense.

I've never actually contributed anything like this before but I guess it doesn't matter, anyway here's my idea for a new stat spread:

HP: 80
Atk:50
Def:95
Sp. Atk:110
Sp. Def:75
Spd:120

This BST comes to 530, I meant this to be a stat spread for a bulky/sweeper pure rock type and I think the stats are pretty even.

Hmmm....

Lets a go.

HP: 80
Atk: 70
Def: 65
SpA: 115
SpD: 95
Speed: 115
BST = 540.

Ratings:

Physical Sweepiness: 110, 1 Above Average
Physical Tankiness: 90, -1 Below Average
Special Sweepiness: 182, 6 Amazing
Special Tankiness: 123, 2 Moderately Good
Offense Defense: 21.8 Bias to Offense
Physical/Special: -44.9 Extreme bias to special.
Overall Rank: 393, Very Good.

Faster than Gengar, good SA, will be an awesome special well (well, as awesome as anything with Water, Grass, and Fite weak can be) in Sandstorm, and I suppose if you wanted lol you could do Head Smash with Rock Head >_>

I'll put some more thought in. I can't imagine this not getting Rock Polish, so really, we don't need to go overkill on the speed. Hmmm....

New idea. Rock/Steel is horrible because of the 4x Fite weak, but maybe:

ROCK ON Special Wall:

HP: 105
Atk: 60
Def: 80
SpA: 120
SpD: 100
Speed: 75
BST: 540

Physical Sweepiness: 82, -2: Moderately Bad
Physical Tankiness: 124, 2: Moderately Good
Special Sweepiness: 150, Rank 4: Very Good
Special Tankiness: 149, Rank 4: Very Good.
ODB: 0.5 No Bias
PSS: -43.4 Extreme Bias to Special.
Overall Rating: 381, Very Good.

If you were to adjust SD for Sandstorm (Base adjusts to 159):

Special Tankiness jumps to 224, Rank 8: Amazing.

This keeps a good SA while having great special tanking. If you want a pure special tank you can move some stats around, but that probably provides a good balance.

And really, Rock's worst special weaknesses are Water and Grass. Aura Sphere is alright, but even Lucario wonuld have to opt for a physical attack here.

Of couse, some might just say "lol Regirock" or "lol Tyranitar" or whatever.

I'm not submitting this I'm just pointing this out to anyone who wants to go off of the reflecting the average stats over a certain number thing.

So I took chrono strike's averages, multiplied them by .45 to get a BST of 540, reflected them over 90, and got...

99 / 81 / 46 / 109 / 81 / 124

...ordered with speed last. Personally, I think this should have 120+ SpA so it doesn't just become a special Aerodactal.

ok taking a look at things, a bit and thinking do we need yet ANOTHER fast CaP, i come up with this.
95/50/77/120/110/107

I know no moves should be considered but we should look at realism here, rock types have rock polish so a speed of 120+ will make it extremely fast anyway, and having ran this thorugh BST calculator i get 544 which is a bit more around OU teriritory and about the best without going overboard on BST (getting 20+ hikes on minor boosts)
physical sweepness -2 (its not doing that so fine)
physical tankness 1 (will need a bit of bulk there to compensate for speed)
special sweepness 7 (erm yea it is a special sweeper, cant help but think what you guys with higher spa and speed are getting...)
special tankness 4 (again bulk to compensate for speed)
total score 544
nearest poke i can bring this to is togekiss, and anyway its breaking the mold with rock types most are physical attack/defenece heavy, this is the opposite.

bulk might help with syclant too, just give it prioity and it will be fine against it.
edited a bit more speed and tinkered with defences BST was abit low

90 HP: Rock has somewhat low HP generally, so I decided on considerably high HP
65 ATK: Fairly low, doubt this will do much to anything.
50 DEF: Rock has incredibly high defense, so this is incredibly low.
134 SpAtk: My friend ran a test and saw that a pokemon with 200 Spatk using Fire Blast would do more than a pokemon with 400 SpAtk using a move with 60 BP, so seeing as how BP has a huge influence, I gave this thing very high SpAtk (Not too massive as to break the more high powered moves though) to even out the low STAB BP (though if we make a move... :S, also, expecting technician here)
91 SpDef: Some rock types have massive special defense, but most have rather mediocre, so this is somewhat high, but not insanely.
125 Speed: Ties with Weavile, insanely fast, but not as much as some.

BST: 555 (Same as Arcanine)

Physical Sweepiness: 104 Average
Physical Tankiness: 79 Moderately Bad
Special Sweepiness: 222 Amazing
Special Tankiness: 126 Moderately good
Offense/Defense: Large Bias to Offense
Physical Special: Extreme Bias to Special
Overall Rating: 548 Excellent

Hp:80

Atk:30 (So no one mix sweeps with it)

Def: 80 (where not going for a glass cannon people)

SpAtk:115 (making it Modest so I can throw in a ridiculus speed stat)

SpDef:70 (Average)

Spd: 135 (Made its other stats modest so it wouldn't be unreasonable to do this)

Base stat total:510
I know it not very high compared to what ever one else is posting but still its high SpAtk/Spd compensate for its non-exsistant Atk. And its not bulky, but it certainly isn't a glass cannon.

@Atyroki: Yeah, your right. I guess I should say having any physical moves would keep it like other rock types.
