CAP 8 CAP 8 - Art Submissions

So, I spent just over two minutes doing quite possibly the worst drawing so far, but I wanted to get some opinions about the idea more than this drawing, it's getting scrapped but I needed to get some thing down:
My idea is based on the interesting conductivity in crystals such as quartz. As such I'm trying to make a "somewhat crystal dragon". The picture provided will be scrapped as the body is too similar to wyverii's and it's just too menacing and cliche. So any advice on requests for limbs and body shape will be much appreciated. The other part of my design centers around Tesla. I mean really, when you think about electricity Nikola Tesla generally pops in to mind pretty quick. So I was thinking of a purple skin colour with light blue lightning veins across it kinda like this Tesla machine:

I also chose the crystal design because it provides a believable way to give a lot of the neglected abilities a proper poke. Abilities that instantly come to mind would be: Colour Change (As crystals can change and vary in colour), Iron Fist (A large crystal fist anyone?), Rockhead, Shield Dust (Would be really cool to have crystal dust surrounding this poke right?), Static, Tinted Lens, Skill link (Could create an electric crystal spike throwing move?), Marvel Scale, and Rough Skin.
I'd just like to promote this conductive crystal idea as I'm not a super great artist, but rather more of an ideas guy, and it would be awesome to atleast see my "idea" win. So, if anyone wants to use this idea, please do so!

Alright, so probably no one is going to comment on this until morning but I was about to fall asleep when I cam up with something new. I think I managed to answer the cry for cute pokemon without deviating too much from the design the everyone originally liked so much. This is very rough, done in PS with the pencil tool, but I will do my best to get this linearted and colored soon. Imagine the color scheme being similar to my first post.

Doug has the right idea. The type of design he's laid out (cool but not savage) is just what the doctor ordered. I don't know where the "cute" fascination came from but I don't like it. My only comment about Doug's is that it looks like something Clamperl would evolve into XD. Still pretty cool, can't wait to see the finished product.
Wyverii's design fits Doug's description, so it's currently got my support (Doug's isn't done, so I can't really judge it). I have some objections to it but I'll list them later most likely. I don't want something that looks like a stuffed animal or an amusement park mascot.
Somebody could technically draw a pinecone and we could vote it to win. Nothing dragon or electric related, and we'd have to deal with it. Art is purely flavor, it doesn't have to match anything. I see nothing bulky about Vaporeon.
I'm liking Wyverii, Taicho and Cartoons so far. Princess Power just misses out on my top three, and Doug's looks like it'll be interesting. Atyroki's just looks stupid. No offence, it just looks REALLY unintelligent. And for the record, there's already a fairly cute Dragon. It's called "Altaria".

The arms remind me of Metagross a bit, strangely...

But anyway, that's a really great design you got going there.
Well, defensive doesn't automatically mean it has to "look" big, many marine animals use counter-shading and camouflage to be "defensive", and Vaporeon uses its ability to turn into water to do the same.
Meh, I know it's not the best, so if someone wants to pretty it up/use it as a springboard/whatever, go ahead; just please gimme credit when and if you do. It's got enough cute to suit my needs, and it's supposed to be "fluffy" like tennisace wants (but you can't exactly do "fluffy" with Paint.NET). *shrug* I tried.
EDIT: I KNOW it looks like a pink Dragonite/Raichu fusion.
EDIT 2: I was looking on the ability list polls, and I tried to make a design that encompassed the most likely ones so it wouldn't have to be edited as much, if at all. Its "derp" face screams Simple, it's "chunky" enough for Thick Fat, and (to me) it seems to have some sort of Magical Guarding potential.
Even though Simple and Magic Guard are unallowed, right? :P
So this isn't a dry post, pkmn-taicho321's really has potential too (especially for avoiding the "cute" nonsense); I expect a good turnout and a high contender. Cartoons' reminds me of Windwaker, lol. It's cool and good artstically but not what I'm looking for, and it can't be sprited in the same style unfortunately. Princess Powers' looks like a Yu-Gi-Oh Card (like superhardcore); not even Rayquaza matches that level, so it's too extreme for me (and pokemon in general imo) (it's a really good picture though!).
EDIT: I can't wait to see what KoA comes up with. If he can dumb it down that is :P Though, it might be 'stereotype dragon,' rather than Kingdra/Flygon-ish, which Wyverii and Doug are up to.
Really? Aww; those were MY favorite ones, at least. Also, I seemed to hear those a lot, and I guess I didn't take a look at the chart well enough. Whoopsy. :P

All I can say about my design is that it goes against the mold set by the rest of the dragons of pokemon, but still manages to stay in the style (I hope).
Ugh, I didn't realize it'd be this hard. Most of the time when I doodle dragons, they are on a level beyond pokemon and kind of on par with YugiOh or something.
Here's an example of what I mean. Pic's a few years old, but that's my general style.

Rough sketch for you guys. My inspiration for this Pokemon was the mythical Ouroboros, the dragon biting its own tail, and also the idea of a complete circuit. Its head is based on crocodile clips.
Major props to Cartoons!'s design. That is an electric/dragon one could really get behind.

Initial Design - Flashdragon
Okay, here's my first attempt (WIP - lovingly colored in ms paint). The basic idea is a frilled-neck lizard/flashbulb (Oh my, an actual concept?). The tail is supposed to look like some electrical cords plugged together. I also have a couple of ideas that I can implement, depending on the ability chosen. On top of that I have plans to make him bulkier/thinner, depending on the style bias.

I really like Cartoons! Maybe some work on the beard, but I think idea overall is great. I'd be down for a cute design, but none of the cute submissions have done it for me so far.
Yeah, dragonbeard. If you're going to give the dragon arms, Solstice, I'd suggest giving him hands as well. The bolts coming out of his wrists don't sit well with me at the moment.
Some rather rough sketches for the dragon. Subject to change to reflect the trends in upcoming polls perhaps. He'll come to your village and take a thundershit unless you give him a lovely virgin he'll take up into the mountains with the Electabuzz and drink Pokemon booze with.
LOL the head pic just screams "GET IN MAI BELLAH!" for some reason. Totally awesome. "Im in ur village, sacrificin' ur virgins."
I like Wyverii's as well. I have no idea what the fascination with cute is other than the "lol cute Dragon lol." It's called Altaria people, look it up. And Latias/Palkia are pink already for cripes sake.
RE: Doug. I know yours is only in sketch mode, but I'm not sure if the single talons work for the feet. Maybe a thinner double or triple talon would make it look more balanced. Aside from the fairly silly looking Golbat, no pokemon seems to have only one extremity emanating from their paws/feet.

Anyways that one is definitely a keeper.
The single talons don't really bother me. I get why they are there. True, they may be a tad bit overdone, but I don't know if I would like a double or triple any better.
I really like this one, in fact I think this stole my vote away from Cartoons!. It's a perfect blend of Attributes from Electric (spikes, balls, stripes) and Dragon.
A bit of constructive criticism, remove the line from the neck, the belly and the tail. The line looks like a seam, and makes it look like a plushie instead of an animal. The effect you were going for is better achieved through shading imo.

Meh, too tired to scan it, so took a pic of it instead. These are 4 different designs I came up with so far. Design 1 is a Neon Light Wyvern. It's a dragon covered in neon lights. The bands on the long lights will probably be removed when I color it. Design 2 is based on the Chinese Lion from the lion dances performed during the Chinese New Year. It's my personal favorite, even if it does look quite like Bowser lol. Design 3 is a velociraptor, and I really really like it personally. Unfortunately, the way the Stat Bias is heading, it won't garner much support. Still, it's quite cool, imo. Finally, design 4 is a rather uncreative lightning dragon. Dunno where I was heading with this, but I'm probably not going to follow it up.
Suggestions on all designs are welcome, and I might come up with other designs later on, so keep your eyes sharp.
