Prepare for trouble
And make it double
I dont know this verse goes on
but you sure got me turned on
I suck at making poems, and if you thought the coolest NPC were team rocket grunts, no. But really, prepare to what is going to be full-on rant:
- Red (HG/SS): the backstory and the fact that you actually played as him back in the Kanto adventure makes him easily one of my all-time favorites, i always wanted to know what was he doing at Mt. Silver for 3 years bar training, and that is actually something Gamefreak could exploit in future games. Pikachu is one of my favorite pokemon, and its Red's signature, so that gives him even more to like him for. Also, did i mention the badassery?
aw shit
- Lance: the first time i went up against him in Fire Red i thought i was done for when his dragonite came in to destroy my whole team, in HG/SS i raged so hard because i literally lost 6 times in a row, i couldnt get past even 1 dragonite, hes the only champion to this day to force me into using an uber-status legendary, namely Ho-Oh. His entire design is extremely cool, and the concetration on dragon-types makes him automatically likeable, at least to me.
- Green: am i the oly one who feels a rival isnt a rival without pushing you further each time? the firs ttime i played through Fire Red, i took my rival seriously, specially after he beat me at the second-to-last battle before Victory Road, and when i saw he was the Champion, perfect ending for his character imo, as well a magnificent end to the main storyline. Best rival, and second best champion.
- Blaine: hes just so chill and likeable at HG/SS, he gives 2 **** that his gym got destroyed by a volcano, relaxing at Seafoam Islands.
- Giovanni: while not the best villain, i liked his cold attitude towards pokemon, not hating them or plain out ignoring them, but using them as tools, also, at the end of Fire Red, he accepts his inferiority to Red and goes on solo training, which i think is a great ending for his character as of that part of the franchise.
- Lt. Surge: i want to kill this guy for his puzzle, did he want to start World War III after living through II? hes a pimp tho, a war soldier that used his pokemon to power up his planes and weapons, god. damn.
- Silver: best developed rival, while not the best, but even with game mechanics you get to see the influence Lance and Gold had on him, from being an arrogant douche 10000x worse than Green (and far less skill at teambuilding) to more of an awkward guy that ends up respecting his pokemon.
- Whitney: i hate that milktank, so much. But when she went to cry and refused to give you the badge, i just liked it, it just shows the inmaturity and comedy Gamefreak tends to put in their games, im sure they did that on purpose lmao.
- Clair: well shes a douche, granted, but again, dragon trainer, plus the fact that she claims only Elite Four trainers can stand up to her gives me the sensation i like in a final Gym leader: powerful and arrogant.
- Koga: ninjas, and hes the only Gym leader to get a boostto the Elite Four, i find that awesome :]
- Watson: i just lol with him
- Norman: the only father to actually appear in the pokemon games, and i think GF did a good job with him, he is, imo legitemately difficult for that stage in the game, and tests you to see if you have what you need to go on with your journey, something a parent should always do, at least in pokemon.
- Steven: not really R/S, but in Emerald, he helps you quite a bit at fighting off the bad guys and your journey in general, something the champion is supposed to do, but i guess Wallace just is too faboulus to get along with you until everything seems lost. After-game, he tells you hes at Meteor Falls and fights you Red-style, but w/o as much badassery. I like him as a Champion and i think, given he is the son of Devon corp CEO, he had potential for development.
- Cyrus: hands down best villain in the series, he just wants to create a new, perfect world to his image, and actually almost suceeds at it, The fact that he evolved his Golbat to Crobat still gives me the creeps and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but a in general great character imo.
- Volkner: he just looks like Minato, i swear i confused them both the first time i went p agains thim in Platinum. Just like Clair, this guy gives the sense of power and arrogance, but in a more chill way, rather than plain out refusing giving you the badge.
- Cynthia: best champion in the series, nothing else to say. A lot of room for development, but her calm demeanor and help she brings during the entire storyline, plus she respecting you after everything youve done around Sinnoh, makes her the most likeable character in Gen 4 as well. Her team is awesome, in Platinum covering 11 of the 12 maximum possible types, variety, and, above all, Garchomp.
- N: best ritten character in the series, and best rival along with Green if we count him as one. N showed a much deeper personality than any other villain in the series as well as a completely different goal, he was isolated as a kid and was manipulated by Ghetsis. Overall, an awesome character that shows off the franchise's potential when they take it seriously.
- Ghetsis: most EVIL villain in the series. What he did to N is the pinacle of assholeness, in lack of a better word. The change between BW and BW2 is also notable and excelent for his character, from a calm mysterious villain to a mad man that destroys everything in his way.
- Alder: weak, piss weak champion, but i liked the fact that he was in fact trying to convince and talk with the Trainers to stop N's goal, interacting with the people of Unova, as well as the protagonist, whom he has contact much more than most other champions.
