Hey guys!
So, nearly three months ago already, an event was planned that I had been so excited about that I could hardly believe it was happening when it began. Because late December/early January is fraught with breaks from school, two certain smogoners agreed to take a little road trip for a week to my neck of the woods.
You've probably heard about them before. They're kind of a big deal.
First, there's Dubulous.
Just a random picture I snagged from facebook. He's a hot-to-trot Little Cup enthusiast, and will also be appearing at this summer's 2011 VGC event, another thing I am extremely excited for, my fingers eager to snap even more pictures of everyone who plans on attending!
Secondly, there's Jabba the frig--I mean, JabbaTheGriffin.
Resident badass? More like resident goofball. And doesn't he just look adorable. He and I not only share an affinity for the amazing TV show Dexter, but we're especially concerned with being cool. Smooth. Suave. Any and every other synonyms that you can think of.
SO, the adventure of us three began after Dubs had let me know that he and Jabba had reached their hotel, a place that was like ~20 minutes from my house, not too shabby. I started driving there when they said they were close, so they wouldn't have to wait too long for my arrival. I arrived at the hotel and entered, trying to follow the directions Dubs was giving me over the phone and my own methods by looking at signs and numbers to find his room. The place they chose to stay at was the probably the definition of a one-star hotel, but it proved itself worthy to house our fun and games later, so no complaints. (and you got used to the awful cigarette and chlorine smell from the pool mixed together........eventually) :cloud:
Most days were chill and we did a number of things:
nbd
There were other nights, of course, where we had plans. Big plans. Plans we had also been planning since before the trip began, and plans we certainly intended to document for your viewing pleasure!
First, but certainly not least, there was Wednesday. Good ol' hump day. I just had to take Dubs and Jabba to steak and shake, a strictly Mid-western restaurant chain, apparently. My friend Chris joined us as well, as he and Dubs became facebook friends a few weeks prior (as a joke at first, then Dubs bit off more than he could chew!) and he wanted to meet/hang out with everyone as well.
kickin' on the LEFT side
sittin' on the RIGHT side
gotta make my mind up
which drink should I taste???
Dubs was more concerned with trying to fit an entire slider into his mouth. Jury's out, he couldn't do it. xD
"Check it out guys, I'm gonna win big."
ok here i go
POOH BEAR IS MINE. (it wasn't. fuck crane games, even though they're one of my addictions. next time!!!!)
So yeah, food was good, naturally, and then we decided to go out for the REAL fun. This wasn't just any Wednesday...
You bet your sweet ass.
UNFORTUNATELY, because bowling is so popular on dollar bowling night, we had to pay for our two games, shoes, and then wait until a lane was ready for us. To pass the time, we delved into some DDR.
Which Jabba also managed to turn into a drinking activity. :happybrain:
Dubs played a few games with Chris, a seasoned DDR player, and was actually able to keep up! Pretty impressive. Whenever I played I couldn't manage to get past a D, which was really frustrating. Oh well! I was too busy doing what I do best to care TOO much.
OOF hey jabba and fishy!!! peanut gallery for the prof dancers in the house
Namely Dubulous. Nigga broke a sweat dancin' to all them phat beats.
Eventually our ticket stub number was called, and we made it to our bowling lanes! Things were pretty silly and fun at this point, from being tired after all the DDR, and Jabba progressively getting tipsier and continually talking about this girl he jokingly made plans to marry if she and him didn't find anyone else by the time they were [x] years old. Didn't I tell you he was smooth?
So, incoming photo dump of random pictures, sometimes we're bowling, other times not so much:
jabba was not very pleased with his bowling that night. HMMM I wonder what was impairing his mad skill?
SO PISSED ABOUT BOWLING.
p much just gonna tear all my hair out because i probably sucked
hahahahaha
dofuckn't give a, okay
Dubs turned out to be the night's best bowler, a fact that will be supported later on in pictures.
I also tried to capture the fact that the alley was black-lit, and disco balls were shooting lights and colors everywhere. Seriously, even if you're not an avid or even semi-interested bowling fan, this night was so much fun! And with an arcade, pizza, and cheap beer, you're bound to find something to immerse yourself into and enjoy.

ugh
Dubs reigned as victorious, what a fuggin' jerk. J for Jabba, who placed third. F for Fishy, but not for first. :( and then Chris, aka 'Lust' who was last because he was ESPECIALLY terrible. huahuahua
That was all good and fun, but the one thing I looked forward to more than anything during this week was one night. One special night in particular...
Suit night.
Suit night.
For this week, and this week only, suit night was the meaning of our existence. We went out to Khol's to ensure that everyone had whatever they needed to look their best, and we also wanted to kind of coordinate our outfits to show how much serious business we meant. And boy, did we mean it. We eventually bought everything we thought we needed, and the boys returned to their hotel to get ready whilst I went back home to prepare for the night out. Jabba and Dubs called me to let me know when they were on their way back over to my house, and once I had finished curling my hair and setting my scarf just right, we drove to dinner.
oh my
After parking and checking out the state of us, we crossed the street to our destination:
And I sooo wish that more smogoners could have been!
We sat down, situated ourselves, and let the awesomeness of the evening start to soak in. You're probably wondering why we would get all dressed up to eat at a wing's place, a dangerously hot and messy situation, but that just added to the ridiculous fun we were all having that night!
oh-so candid. I know we're all pretty pretty, but let the fucking feast begin.
NOW LISTEN: This story wouldn't be complete without an honorable mentioning of LonelyNess, the person who was supposed to complete our squad of awesomeness for the week. Due to problems at work that revealed themselves too late, LN was unable to make it. He was surely missed, and certainly not forgotten.
So after tearing through mozzarella sticks, wings and the DELICIOUS juice concoctions that our waiter so eagerly offered to us, I had a little dessert, also because of our waiter's prompting. He was too good at his job.
It was very good cheesecake, but no-where near the level of excellence that DM and I shared at TGI Friday's in Indy. (also something I can't wait to do again!!!)
Up to this point, we've been pretty tame. We got dolled up, glutton'd up, and we're feeling pretty fresh, pretty fly. We've only just begun the night, however. After a pit-stop to walmart,
for the dire necessities (including various alcohol), were we ready to return to the hotel room and thoroughly enjoy the theme of suit night.
Literally, fools! Gahaha.
But seriously, we totes had alcohol as well.
Surely we hadn't forgotten to prepare.
We also took the liberty of making a group bathroom party picture. Oh, and what a party it was!
Basically, there were some shots (SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS),
some dancing,
and just some general tom-foolery
we all definitely felt the events of this night the next morning. I'm pretty sure we missed every minute of daylight, keeping our blinds shut and not even leaving the hotel again until dusk. WRECKED.
This wasn't the end of the trip, however, and I believe it was Friday or Saturday that we all went to Chicago. We also met up with Tangerine and Six One Six, and the events/pictures from that day have already been recorded in the album thread, where the rest of the trip's events are adequately described!
thank you for reading, and I definitely had to make a thread for all of this so I wouldn't jack up my post/picture count in the album thread any more than necessary... I'm so happy I was able to recover these pictures last night, and going through them again makes me nostalgic for that trip, and even more excited for the coming VGC, when this crowd and looaaads more smogoners will be reuniting for an awesome time!
