Mine - surprisingly - was at a metal festival in Belgium. But we're both metal fans and we live quite far apart (and we met on the net) so it was the easiest thing to do...
was that this girl, altmer? :}

My first date was years ago hell, I still remember it tho. Pretty much, you want to take them to a movie, then treat them to dinner. During dinner, its easier to get conversations going and asking that person more about themselves. After the first date, things naturally progress ;)
Totally 100% wrong!
The best bit about a new relationship is finding things out about the person; if I may get a bit soppy and poetic, devouring them, exploring them.
As suspected.
So ... are you going to say that this won't be an awkward situation? Because even without the colourful vocabulary, it sounds like an awkward situation to me, and wanting an awkward situation makes as much sense as wanting to be raped.
Also, I thought you "got to know" the person when you were "just going out", or was that another predictable misconception on my part?
It's not awkward, it's exciting! Really, really exciting. It's fun, it's sexy, it's.. pff it's just lovely. Finding out exactly what this person you've (I'm assuming) got some feelings for is like! Everything about them.. favourite food, hopes for the future, 'that-one-time-they'. People's quirks, desires, fears; and that's before you even go into the physical side of it. Ceaseless flirting and being made to laugh, and knowing you make someone else laugh! And as to the first physical things, y'know; finding out what someone looks like with no clothes on, how they kiss, etc etc use your imagination (and yes this SO is first date material).
I honestly feel sorry for you at this point! ..or at least I did, until you brought the flippant and irrelevant rape reference into it. gj.

If it's awkward, you're on the wrong first date. Bail.
Last first date was walking on bloor and stopping if we found something interesting, smoking along the way and drinking wine discreetly hidden in an opaque water bottle. We only stopped when with each other![]()
I'm kind of hoping that this paragraph starts sincerely and gets more and more sarcastic towards the end with sarcasm levels peaking by the final bit in brackets.
Everything you described before the physical aspects sounds like ... well, a regular friendship. This in turn suggests that "girlfriend" basically means "female friend you kiss and fuck". No doubt you or someone else is gonna say "NO ITS NOT LIEK DAT AT ALL!!!!!" or words to that effect.
If you're not best/very good friends with your lover then you're in the wrong relationship.
I tend to find the physical attraction part comes after.
is also true. If you like, you can change it to "boyfriend" means "male friend you kiss and fuck"."girlfriend" basically means "female friend you kiss and fuck".
Not gonna argue with you there.
I'm not exactly seeing why there would have to be a physical attraction in the first place, unless my statement is also true. If you like, you can change it to "boyfriend" means "male friend you kiss and fuck".
EDIT: Given that my statement above is not true, the physical attraction part of a relationship is rather superfluous, isn't it?
hey dudes, don't knock the movie date!
first dates are pretty stressful, an excuse not to talk for a while is usually a relief, even if it's going really well. and it's not like you can't get to know each other there. there's more to knowing a person than hearing their life story - seeing how they react to a film can show you their sense of humour, whether they are sentimental or not, a lot of emotional reactions. and it will display your date as they really are, instead of how they are trying to represent themselves on a first date.
as long as you pair it with a dinner or some other conversation activity, you're fine.
it's also pretty clearly a "date" date, as opposed to something like a trip to the art gallery, which is easy to interpret (or pretend to interpret) as something less.
Soooo, I thought I would come here to brag about how awesome tomorrow's first "date" is going to be. My friend, his girlfriend, myself, and the girl I'm taking out are all going to my house, where my mom will be gone. We're getting an eigth of shrooms and a quarter of weed, and then we're going to grind up the shrooms and smoke it all. From there, we're going to see Avatar in 3D. Then, we're coming back to my house and..well...the couples will be splitting up.
Oh, and the girl I'm taking is my 24 year old boss who's engaged. This is going to be so hot.
also, objection, no offense, but until you have not just had sex, but been in a loving sexual relationship, your opinion on it is worthless. like falling in love, sex is one of the very few things in life that has to be experienced firsthand. it is extremely emotionally complex and varying, and utterly alien to all other human forms of interaction - i've never seen language come even close to expressing what sex is. don't judge it 'til you've tried it, basically
You know, someone else once wrote a longer version of that in response to one of my posts a long time ago, and I told them why I considered sex to be not that good despite having never tried it myself. It essentially comes down to me not liking any form of body contact beyond a high five (and that I have tried) and the fact that as far as I know, it is impossible to have sex without such body contact. Not saying that loving relationships are completely worthless, just wondering why they have to be sexual as well - that is, if they have to be sexual as well.
