just to be sure i understood it right, did cersei admit that it was joffrey and not her that tried to have Tyrion killed? Also I started rewatching the first few episodes and it's pretty amazing how much more I'm understanding the second time around, I was really confused/overwhelmed with the amount going on at the same time to begin with.

Another cool episode, agreed that LittleFinger was great.

I have no clue of who he really is. I just started reading A Dance With Dragons where from what I've been told who he is when you find out his identity. Though HBO has been dropping hints towards that conclusion.

Yes it was Joffrey who tried to have Tyrion killed.

Anyone else confused as to why Joffrey killed Ros? It can't just be because he's sadistic, I feel like there is more to it then that. Any clarification?

It's just that. He's sadistic. Remember the scene in S2 where he made Ros hit the other whore repeatedly?

edit: well, the wiki says that littlefinger gave her to joffrey because he found out ros was spying on him
 
Yeah, the impression I got from the last scene between Varys and Littlefinger was that Littlefinger had realized Varys was using Ros to spy on him. I assumed her death was a result of that.
 
yeah littlefingers speech towards the end included bits about ros being a "bad investment" after leaking information to varys. as for Joffrey killing her I guess its because he's completely sick, littlefinger also talked about his client wanting a "fresh experience" iirc?
 
I see. I noticed that Littlefinger mentioned a "bad investment" during his chaos speech but I just didn't put 2 and 2 together. Thanks for that.

Also I just watched the episode again and I noticed the parallel between Arya shooting the straw dummy and how Joffrey killed Ros. Thought that was pretty interesting.

holy fuck, speaking about that, i just realized that the direwolves have barely any cameos in this season
 
^ it does seem as though that will be the episode where it all goes down.

The character list for that episode includes all the main pieces..the episode after doesn't list any of them, Frey etc. oh..it's definitely on.


I wiki'd the hell out of GoT last night for hours. I now know about each character for the most part and what happens in their life or their conclusion.

The torture kid is fucking loony, but man... He gets so much worse.

After seeing Phadunk's post, I meant to post to say not to go read wiki and spoil things for yourself but damn too late.
 
If you've read about the Red Wedding you just spoiled yourself for a good part of book 3 and early parts of book 4.
 
That was the point of reading about it. Didn't plan on actually reading these books.

That's like telling everyone who read the books to not watch the show, as everything is already 'spoiled'.

In any case, amazing episode. Love all the parts they added that aren't in the books. Really flesh out Tyrell vs Lannister and Littlefinger vs Varys.
 
I've heard from the book readers on Reddit that the scene with Melisandre was something new that the TV series brought to the table. Thoughts?
 
Yeah, it was new and usually that would be something that would irritate me as a book reader. I really think that all the changes though have been really well done this season and have been both necessary and successful in adapting the series for television. To be fair this is probably because George R. R. Martin writes the scripts for the TV show. This particular change really brought a few story arcs together and foreshadowed a lot of Melisandre's and Arya's future actions.

I imagine the Hound will pick up Arya in the next episode...travel for a bit and then get to the twins for episode 9
What I want to know is how Melisandre got from Dragonstone to the Riverlands a) so quickly and b) without running into anyone who would want to kill her (Lannisters or anyone loyal to Joffrey in particular). She didn't seem to be travelling with a huge party so anyone they ran into could have been problematic.
 
Well He's inserting the implications right now with those extra new scenes because you can only have so much screen time in a budget heavy TV show with a limited run-time.

That helps him cut out 6-7 chapters in a stroke.
Quite ingenuous I must say.
 
Good episode, but was cutting off Theon's dick really necessary?

The dragons were great, the bear part was awesome. Too much sex and lovey dovey things that weren't really necessary, but overall, good episode. The preview for the next three are intense, especially
